Morning all,

I have finally finished the RT Land Raider. It has taken a lot longer then I had hoped but I'm pretty pleased with it. I'm also happy that I took Augustus' advice regarding the heavy bolters on the top, I think they really finish it off and help with trying to update the model:

I also added some barbed wire around the dozer blade after seeing it on a google search. Overall I'm very happy with it:

I'm now planning on doing my second Tactical/CSM squad. I was going to paint the Rhino for the first unit but I think I'll wait until I have ordered the second so I can paint them at the same time. As always, let me know what you think :D

The land raider is superb! That fixer-upper is going to look great crushing its foes beneath its treads!

The heavy bolter on top does add a great touch that finishes it all off.

...now to scour Ebay for one of these classics.

It look reaaly cool Nemac ! The turret fits perfectly upthere. I think that maybe some adornement, trophy would look great too but it blend perfectly with the "neat/clean" look of the rest of your force so far so it doesn't bother me :)

Ave dominus nox brother !

Land Raider looks boss mate, you've done a great job breathing new life in to the old model - I think I can help with Malchy's suggestion of adding adornment's ... how about some 1st Legion issued LasCannon holes in the side of it!?

Thanks hushrong, I'm sure there are some Dark Angels around here somewhere :D

Looks great, a mini-sized land raider!

Thanks Traitor, It is a fair bit smaller then the newer kits but I don't think that will phase my regular opponents :)

Thanks Malchy, I'm sure I will be adding some trophies at some point, I just need to decide where I will put them :)

Thanks mate, I would prefer some First Legion issued heads or helmets haha

Thanks again for the comments folks!

Aw man! That RTB11 tank looks amazing! Well done on restoring it! I'm glad the Razorback turret idea worked so well on it, and this really looks like a cool tank!

Also, that squad is looking super spiffy too! You've got some impressive painting skills, dude!  :tu:

A question I have though - or perhaps a suggestion - with the squad's bases looking so dang cool and dusty - wouldn't it be cool to give the tank just a liiiitle bit of weathering on the tracks and lower armour panels? Even some cursory brushwork withlight arth weathering powder would tie in the tank with the squad, emthinks! :D

Thanks Augustus :D

I like the idea of adding weathering to the tracks and lower sections of the tank but it is something I seem to struggle with. I think I will have to practice on a different tank first or maybe watch some videos and see if I can manage to get it right. I think without the turret HB's the tank didn't look finished so I am very pleased with those, cheers!

Well seeing as your base is mostly sandy-like in appearance, how about a sponging with GW Zandri Dust? Just practice/apply some on the underside of the tank where noone can see. It's super easy and effective. I did the same on my Khornate Rhino's and it looks great. :)

Morning all,

I have a small update for today. Hobby mojo has been lacking since finishing the the Land Raider (minus weathering of course) and so I decided to build a new character model in an attempt to get things moving again. In 40k I will run him with the Claws of the Black Hunt:

gallery_74887_13568_167376.png

I wanted a more reactive pose for him and am also working on a display base with a few corpses to give him a more brutal appearance when on the shelf. I still need to source the right hand as it appears I have a large collection of left hands in various forms but not a single right hand which is a bit of a bummer. Now that this guy is built I will run the BaC chaplain conversion as a Sorcerer in 40k so I now have plenty of options.

I used Sevatars head for this conversion but I have plans to make a new bare head for Sevatar because I do not like the bare head he comes with. As always thoughts, comments and criticisms are very welcome :)

If he looks like a rabbit then...

"Well, that's no ordinary rabbit! ... That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you've ever set eyes on!" -Tim the Enchanter

I like the new character! That's a great use of bits and pose. I want to guess the skin cloak may have come from a Dark Eldar? What changes did you do to the groin plate under the chains? That definitely looks different.

That is a really menacing looking kit bash! Really liking the lightning claws, gonna have to try that out on a model someday!

Thanks Vairo :), the lightning claws are from the Tartaros kit. They are similar to the claw you get with the MKIV set but the cables are shorter so they fit on the arms of the standard marines a lot better. I also carved the bottom of the claws away to make they more pointed.

Really like this model, husrongs comment made me laugh. But he is right, he's one bunny you seriously dont want to mess with

Thanks Sagentus :), I am very pleased with this guy but can't paint him just yet. I promised myself I would at least finish my second CSM squad before I started him.

Morning all,

I have finished three more of my second CSM/Legion Tactical Squad. I sculpted the hair on the one guy and went with something a little different. This gave me the opportunity to take a leaf out of Malchy's book for some tribal tattoos or in this case, Nostraman gang tattoos:

gallery_74887_13568_214710.png

I also removed the bottom of the groin plate on the weapon specialist so that I could replace it with one from the Dark Imperium Death Guard with the skull and chainmail hanging from it. Individual shots:

med_gallery_74887_13568_132127.png

The hanging bolter on the last guy is from the Burning of Prospero Space Wolf Champion. I think I have also come up with a solution to my Chaos Cultists issue. I don't feel that the current cultist models will really fit in with my armies aesthetic and so I have thought about using Genestealer neophytes which then presents the problem of having to source a large amount of human heads, or using Cadians which then has the issue of having to source autoguns and close combat weapons.

My solution came from Necromunda with the release of the Orlock gang. They have skull motifs on their belts and if I paint the loincloth's red they should resemble the Night Lords legion symbol. They are also all human and have the added bonus of having autoguns, pistols, daggers and even a heavy stubber:

gallery_74887_13568_170308.png

although I have converted the Champion's weapon to hold the axe from the cultists box I will also be keeping these pretty standard so that I can use them in games of Necromunda. I will paint the shirts blue, the loincloths red and the jacket and trousers black which should tie them in nicely to my Night Lords army.

As always C&C is very welcome :)
