Yeah like I say. The old Subjugator was another reference for this. I really liked the old Slaanesh titans, I'd love to see someone build a 40k scale Subjugator, especially now we actually have Knights in 40k.

Aandvar the tendrils were pretty busted up, should be an easy enough fox but I really didn't want to use them on this. I had them on the old one so I could run it as either a Mauler or Forge but I have some Blood Slaughterers now that I Proxy as Maulers if I ever use them.

Funny you should say that I'm considering what to do when it comes to the prince of pleasure for the black ruin, need to finish the Khorn one first then probably an undivided paladin. but the epic models will definitely inspire. Mide that could be over a year away at the rate I'm going.

I'm sorry about the destruction of the models, that sounds really sucky.

Still, I look forward to seeing some Slaaneshi engines of destruction. I too am a fan of the old Slaanesh Knight/Subjugator models and I'd love to see you do 40K scaled versions of them. I'm not sure what parts you could use, but for the Subjugator's legs I'd suggest splicing together Wraithknight and Knight Titan legs (if that would work). Tyranid parts could be useful, but you'd need to do a lot of sculpting/splicing to avoid them just looking like, well, bits of Tyranid.

Now wraithknight legs that's not a bad shout and I may be getting a spare pair soon and have a spare Knight waist a while later, hmm now I'm pondering.

This subjugator on our very own B&C is an amazing one and well worth saving to look at later. Though no pressure Biohazard I'll stop digging around for inspiration and hyjaking your thread.

Wow cheers guys. Some really nice stuff there. I've seen a scratch build as well that was really nice looking.

I think if I was to tackle a build like this ( not saying I am but you guys have got me really thinking about this now) I would use Knight Titan legs in the dog leg configuration to keep the same kind of aesthetic as the Imperial and possibly look at adding some Tau parts like I have on my Defiler. You'll see some more of that tonight after my work ;)

Ok so had a lot going on in real life the last week or so and Ive completely failed to take any pics of the Defiler yet. I have a tournament coming up in a couple of weeks at one of my local clubs though so been working on bits and pieces for my list, part of it I'll show here and the rest will be over in my WE thread as that's where they'll be used more.

So I decided I'm going to use the Terminator Annihilation force as part of my list for this tournament and I really wanted to try out a Sorceror, perfect.

So I threw this guy together a couple of nights ago, I'll be using him unmarked at this even but he'll more than likely end up in with the Darkblades. I'll come up with some fluff for him later, to tie him in with my WE but I think he'll basically have been attached to Maleks Warband on Abbadons request as a way to keep tabs on the WE in an upcoming campaign as Abby has concerns over Maleks loyalties and thought the most insulting way of keeping an eye on him is to assign a Psyker. My thoughts on this guy is he's basically like 'The Watcher' from the Darksiders game. (Imagine Mark Hamills voice through a Vox grille) he'll be getting a little tidy up and painted this week so look out for that.

I will get more pics of the ForgeFiend and Defiler later tonight, I've also mocked up a version of Lord Akvald on a bike so will show that as well as his retinue of bikers. :tu:

That's an awesome looking sorcerer! I need to get myself a Chaos Knight kit someday, the parts look fantastic.

Also, thank you for reminding me about Darksiders- I do love that game. A Terminator Lord with a sword styled after Chaoseater would be awesome.

Squigsquasher, cheers buddy. It is indeed an awesome game, and I'm sure there's something in the citadel range that could be used to represent Chaoseater somewhere. A nice idea though :tu:

Mechanist, thanks and yeah he must have really rocked the boat to be given a babysitter, as I say I need to have a think on it a bit more.

Here's a look at a biker squad I built a few days ago and an early WIP of Lord Akvald on a bike as well. Akvalds bike still needs a lot of work and he still needs feet

Biker Champion,

And another early WIP of my Slaaneshi Defiler. I think I'll be giving this guy a vox grille similar to the ForgeFiend.

Here's the donor vehicle, a scrappy Piranha on and even scrappier eBay Defiler purchase.

Like I say this is still VERY early WIP, I plan to swap out the barrel for a leman Russ battlecannon a mate is being good enough to give me. Happy with what little progress there is so far though, here's the different stages of The DoomLord

And how it's looking now, as said above it'll need a LOT more work but I like where it's headed so far, it won't have every weapon equipped, these are all tacked at the moment so I can see where to place the magnets.

Cheers buddy, I'm not planning on adding the tail though, this guy is based on a conversion I'd seen years ago, I could never find the original builder so can't give credit but this is the one mine is based on.

Ive loved this conversion since I first found it but wanted to add my own spin on it, on my one where the skull is I'll be adding another dirge caster but magnetising it so I can switch between the flamer, my reaper auticannons will be underslung as the Piranha I bought was already fully built so it will be a lot more work to add them like the image. Again they'll be magnetised. I'm looking at adding havoc launchers along the rear somewhere. Plus I have a lot of small details to add.

That's a pretty neat Defiler conversion there. One thing I will say is it would be cool if you repositioned the limbs so the middle pair of legs were angled more forward, supporting the bulk of it, and the claws were raised up aggressively. That said I've never built a Defiler so I don't know how possible that is, and also I don't know how heavily glued that poor eBay specimen's leg sockets are.

It is indeed possible but this particular models a bit too heavily glued for that. :(

Ray Harry-Hausen lives!!!......ahem

The best workmen make use of the tools they already have to hand. I think you'll pull off something befitting a chaos beast machine bio...no doubt about it!

Cool that your not going for a tail..I just thought it would be something more like a higher mounted turret I suppose.

Edit: Wait...have you thought about dipping the rescue in some form of acetone? Or applying it to the joints of the beastie? Acetone essentially is a plastic softener...would that help?? Or may it have to be some other stripper that won't eat the plastic?

It's been plastic glued by the look of it so the plastics already melted. If it was superglued I'd use the freezer trick as that's worked well for me in the past.

Mechanist I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the intakes on the Piranha yet, I'd like to disguise them a bit more so may add some mesh over them and turn them into speakers like you suggest.

Shame about the plastic glue stuff...

Hey if we're going down the mesh grille speakers, get some large tube pipes that go into the back of the skull, or from the middle of the piranah, like some mad channelled chaos screaming is coming from somewhere!

Mind you, I've got a mental picture of the beast machines making the droning dirge sound from the war of the world's remake before people got atomised.

Totally missed this thread! Your kitbash/converting skills are second to none and you are really knocking these guys out of the park, they look great. A nice change of pace from the World Eaters I bet. I am thinking of some sort of fluffy hatred between your two armies and their respective Lords dating back to Skalathrax? :biggrin.:

  • 5 weeks later...

I don't know if you've got the Index Chaotica: Apocrypha book yet (and if not WHAT ARE YOU DOING GET IT NOW GO GO GO) but the section on the Epic-scale Chaos engines reminded me of the old Slaaneshi Knights, the Hell Knight, Hell Scourge and Hell Strider. Given we now have Knight-scale models in 40K, I'd love it if you could do a conversion of maybe the Hell Knight (IMO the best looking Slaaneshi Daemon Knight). They're canonically the size of an Imperial Knight, as opposed to the Warhound-sized Subjugator, so it would in theory be possible to make one fairly easily out of plastic components. I don't know if you've got any of the old models for reference but the Index Chaotica has some nice photos of the models for referencing. I'd suggest combining Wraithknight and Imperial Knight parts for the majority of the model- Tau battlesuits could be useful for some parts, and depending on how daemonic you wanted it to look, Tyranid monsters or even some WHFB/AoS monsters like the Slaughterbrute could provide some nifty bits.

Nemac, glad you've finally found it and thank you. :tu:

Squigsquasher, of course I have Apocrypha, I have the White Dwarf those engines first appeared in somewhere as well. :tu:

I do like those suggestions and I may get around to it at some point. I have a few ideas already rolling around in my head I just need to finish what I have so far and track down the elusive mistress of free time and then I'll look at adding a Knight class in a similar style to the Forge Fiend and Defiler I have here. ;)

I also have to second the recommendation to buy the Apocrypha book, it has a lot of elements from the old Slaves to Darkness books and it seems like a lot of stuff from the old Epic renegades supplement.
