Good work on the altered scheme, it's in a better place now for sure. Much closer to the Fecund Ones scheme now, actually - considered going them at all? They're definitely who I'd go for if I was going to pick a canon Vectorium.

I used to be proud of my conversions... now I feel really small

Awesome skills, you are an inspiration! I am still in need of some Doom Sirens, so I will look forward to some bits seen in your great thread!

Apologies for the delay in replying folks, real life hasn’t been the kindest over the last couple months and may continue to hinder me over the next couple of weeks as well. Thank you for all the comments though. :tu: I’d started painting a few more Plague Marines a few weeks ago but there’s not a whole lot to show as they’re only at the basecoat stage. One thing I did want to show was this, as it also answers SystemSyns question :)

I had the idea from the moment I saw this guy of him using the sword almost like a crutch/walking pole while he’s shuffling forward. I had ideas about using the one eyed face with the horns from this one as well but when I built him last night I decided this fitted better. Still have gaps to fill and the sword handle to straighten. I’ll probably bury the very tip of the sword into the base as well when I come to detail it. As for the rest of the army I still have a unit of 10 Plaguebearers and 3 Drones to build. Planning on painting them with washed mostly so it shouldn’t be to taxing. These will be used alongside my Khorne Daemons in a game in a few weeks against a friends Slaanesh and Tzeentch Daemon force. Should be interesting.

I love the idea with the sword. I think it looks better this way :tu:. Are you planning on the standard GW scheme for these or are you going to do something a little different like with the plague marines? I know you mentioned painting them with washes but was curious what sort of colour they would be. Look forward to seeing more of these :)

When I bought the big guy I ordered a tin of Army Painter Necrotic Flesh as well which actually looks to be fairly close to Nurgling Green so I think it’ll be along the lines of spray, wash with a mixture of colours and then a few highlights. Hopefully that will give you a better idea of the colours I have in my head.

The Death Guard look great! Their new damonic friends are also going to be a treat to see when painted. I like the idea of the sword as an impromptu walking stick. You can just imagine him thrusting the sword in the ground before him, his legs pushing his gut aside to step firther, and dragging the rest of his mass forward.

Thanks guys, I decided I actually wanted to finish off some units I started a long time ago before moving onto the new shiny things.

On that note I finished converting up my Bringers of Despair, these are actually paint in progress just now but I haven’t gotten updated pics yet.

That Combi melta has been replaced with a plasma as well.

To show the Black Legion most likely keep the best loot for themselves I’ve updates the Combi flamers on this squad a little

And who else could lead this motley crew? The Despoiler himself, I will add there is still a way to go with painting the brass especially. And

it wasn’t until I started I noticed the mouldines on the skulls so they will be addressed as well.

The purple on the claw and sword is a lot more subtle irl as well. The artificial light lends it an almost neon quality

The terminators look awesome dude, which heads are those? I don't think I've seen them before. I really like what you have done with the combi and heavy weapons, the faces wrapped around the barrels on the heavies is especially cool. As for Abaddon - Brilliant! The head you have made has much more character then the original model and the re-positioning of the claws on the Talon of Horus looks great.

I actually really like the bright purple on the Talon and on Drach'nyen so if it isn't that bright on the actual model, I would add an additional highlight. I think the glowing effect works really well, especially on the sword as it is a daemon weapon.

Thanks buddy. The heads are from the Primaris range, I think they’re from the Hellbastards. I have a few Aggressor heads as well that will be used on another older project. More on that once the Bringers of Despair are done.

Thanks for the comments on the claw/sword. I may see what I can do with that. I knew I didn’t want to go the same green as my WE so used the purple ink for a change, I think it works quite well against the black armour. I’ll hopefullt get his armour finished this evening. :tu:

Looking really good! The subtle conversions on the Terminators give them a lot of character. Are they going to be painted in full Black Legion colours? Or is there going to be some hints of Tzeentch in there too?

As for Abaddon, I really like the bright purple too! You've done a great paint job on the claws and sword blade. I agree with Nemac, keep them bright! I'm not sure if it's just the photo but they look slightly shiny too, which is really suits them. They've got a proper Daemonic look.

Looking forward to seeing how all this Terminatory goodness progresses!

Now that is a proper Abaddon. He looks way better than the tiny old model. Would you please tell us which bits you used? It looks like mostly the TDA Lord, a Bloodletter sword and a ork top knot. How did you do the Talon of Horus?

As the others said, leave the blades bright. Would you share your recipe for the blades, please?

Thanks guys

SystemSyn. They’ll be full Black Legion but the Icon will be removable so I can switch out their Mark. :tu:

Quixus, you’ve nailed pretty much everything. The Talon of Horus was made using a Terminator Lord lightning claw. I trimmed down the back and added the bolters from a Helbrute fist. The claws themselves are actually from Huron Blackheart. I found they were the closest I could find to the original model.

As for how I painted the claws, it was just as simple as my World Eater Weapons. Paint black, edge highlight white, then cover with the old school Citadel Purple Ink :tu:

Here he is pretty much done. I think I’ll highlight the brass up a bit more and I think I’ll add another trophy to his left rack just to balance out his trophies.

Yeah like I say I’ve been using the old Dark Green ink on my Khorne models for a while now. It gives a nice glossy finish that I like. I also have the yellow ink there as well, not sure how that would work. Might look cool for plasma?
