Thanks. Can you let us know if you remove posts - I've had several posts vanish across the board in recent days and I wanted to know if it was because i never hit 'post' or because they were removed.It's frustrating to spend time writing things to see them removed, especially when they are on-topic or point out why they are on topic. This is pretty typical in News & Rumor where big strings of posts go off topic. We do point out in the forum rules that off topic and rule breaking posts may be deleted without notice. Like an email that says your post was deleted with a link to the thread or a quote of the deleted post? It could be automatic so its not more work for the mod in question but would at least give us a heads up. I have been unaware in the past and almost continued the removed conversation without realizing it, so I agree that something informative would be nice. Petitioner's City Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share Posted October 25, 2016 Sorry for my late reply - some kind of notification would be wonderful - what I am puzzled by was that (I am sure eveyrone says this) my posts (if published) in the Magnus and Russ forums were not off-topic, but about either the model or text in discussion. Hence why it would be nice to know if they were removed, so as to discern what may have been wrong. When posts are removed do they 'go' somewhere? Dosjetka Posted October 26, 2016 Share Posted October 26, 2016 To take the specific cases you're on about (Russ and Magnus threads in the NR&A), in the past two weeks, you have only had two posts removed, both in the Russ thread, both hidden by me, both hidden because they were definitely off topic (the first asking to give a description of what two of the FW staff are like and the second was a long post talking about the comparison between Russ and Angron was, essentially, wrong which came shortly after an in-thread nudge to drop the whole Angron-Russ thing). I can understand that you don't like seeing long posts removed but if you were a little bit more aware of previous posts then you wouldn't have this problem. Dosjetka Posted October 26, 2016 Share Posted October 26, 2016 I suggest you implement a system that is a little different from what you're suggesting but infinitely more beneficial to all: write your posts and before you click the "post reply" button, re-read and determine whether or not what you have written might be edited or removed by the Moderating team (by cross-checking with the forum rules, for example: if you do this the first few times, it won't take long before you know them well enough to not need to check them every time). I'll also give you a little piece of advice to set you on the right track: if you yourself write "this is (probably) off-topic but [...]" then it most probably is and therefore will get removed without notice. I knew it would be, but that was different from the others and written in light of this discussion however, I wasn't sure where to post it - but it certainly was a nice bit of fun in light of what this week's release is. It was a fun burst! I was asking about things from Friday and the weekend! As for the former, I think certain areas of the board are more 'liberal' (in the sense of accepting) in side discussions - tangents are fundamentally creative, and lead to more interesting discussions - hence why AoD and BL threads could be classified by that word. But I understand the difference in the N&R section. However, I think your tone here is a little bit insulting - ok, 'infinitely more beneficial to all' is insulting. Tone it down please, I'm not attacking anything here, and certainly not you. I think there is an opacity that I want to understand, and putting the onus on me is shaming rather than making something clear. Last night's was completely that, but as an aside not useful for this discussion - my query is about last week - and really just having a page on my personal profile to 'see' what has been removed! Further, you may notice many of my posts are edited a certain amount of times, and this is because I do this, both before and after hitting post all - this is my attitude to all writing. Thank you, sorry for reading it as that! This has been helpful, and you are right, re-reading a post before publication is important Anyway, i want to thank you for explaining this. If there was one thing out of this, it is somehow being able to 'see' on a user's profile what was removed or hidden.
