Black Book - The First Solar War

Ok,

Freighters with psyker network

Giant artillery ships (like those used by the Tsons during the battle of the fang) to keep Murugata busy / bombarded

Massive landing on Delos to take the Wardens at their throat (right term?)

To achieve this, the EW are either gifted by the gods themselves or by their own means, they are entering the system much closer to its planets than it should normally be possible.

In terms of Simison's post about titan legions, the Abyssii have a Knight house and a titan legion under their command. The Spectris Lancea (Spectral Lances) are their Knight house, and the Legio Carnifex 'The Executioners' are their titan legion

Alright, then the campaign will focus on the Siege of Salim.

The other factions will be the Abyssi, a fluff chapter for Legio Tempestus, and (since I haven't heard a no) Xenos Militia. Speaking of which, the only two races I could come up with that Alex would allow anywhere near Delos is Eldrad's Eldar and some Kroot mercs. Can anybody think of any other xeno that I might have missed?

Possibly the Kinebrach (and the rest of the Interex I suppose), maybe the Demiurg too. There are other Xenos that would work as mercenaries, but most of the others I can see Alexandros keeping away from Salim and the 'heartland' as it were.

I thought they were extinct? And I thought the Demiurg were just a variant of humans? Reading up on Lexicanum, I guess not. Yes, those two would make good allies. I don't suppose we know what the Kinebrach look like?

Jokaeros would work.

What about the Slann?

I think the only description of the Kinebrach is "simian" not sure if there's more in the HH openiong trilogy. It's been a while since I read them. Jokaero sound good too.

As for slann I guess it's possible, though they are supposed to mostly gone by the M31. After all they are supposed to have taught the Eldar before their empire rose to greatness. So you might have a couple, they are also supposed to be powerful psychics, so that might make for interesting times on Delos with them there too.

I would like to point out we've been working under the assumption that the Demiurg are actually Squats based on Jes Goodwin's sketches and their descriptions where they're described as short humanoids that are talented smiths, have advanced tech, and mining capabilities. So our Demiurg are abhumans.

Thank you, Redd. Thought there was something I was missing about them.

And it might be better off if the Slann continue to die off, since we don't have a good reason for their return.

Still, with the additions of Jokaero and the Kinebrach, I think we have enough to round out the xenos allies.

Of course, we essentially have to invent the Kinebrach, given how little we have to work with in canon.

Its not too bad for the Kinebrach as they only really fight alongside the Interex, otherwise they aren't allowed to bear weapons. And we have a little bit of an idea of the Interex's military capabilities. So they have Sagittars as elite troops who can move swiftly and have 'bows' that can pierce Astartes armour. I remember the fact that they wear their military strength in a concealed manner was a thing.

My Provenance thoughts for them:

  • +1BS (I think lots of marines were getting shot through vital organs and eye slots)
  • Can't run (I think they were quite small... Eh maybe)
  • Flare Shield upgrade option for vehicles (relatively hidden military strength)
  • Banestrike upgrade option for troops (weapons capable of dealing with power armour reliably)
  • Tainted weapons option for all characters (The Anatheme)

As for fluff I guess you could mostly interact with their human counterparts. Their inability to carry arms except when at war might mean that they are in mixed units, with human leaders... That way you could treat them less as mercenaries and more as Imperial Army specialists.

Before going too far in the Xenos creation, ask a moderator if it's okay (like Slips' ;) ) I know we're in our own little corner, but it would be a shame if we suddenly lost all your important work because a moderator wandered over and thought, "Xenos? We don't want no filthy xenos here! Exterminatus!"

Do we reallly need xenos rules? Why not focus on the marine battle and the battles where the xenos take place are mentioned. nothing more. so we now why the insurrectionists are halted, but we won't lose focus on the marines

Yeah but the reason that Icarions push towards Terra was stopped was due to the Edict and the use of Xenos mercenaries/Allies. It would be like if Forgeworld had never written any rules for the Solar Auxilia, Imperial Militia, Knight Households or Mechanicum. Sure we would have been happy enough with just Legions. But we would be missing out on so much.

Fair point. I believe we did ask before, but Slips may have missed it as I don't believe we got an answer. In any case I believe that some discussion is allowed so long as the focus remains upon the Imperium and its human (or space marine) foes. And the Edict is, to my mind, most definitely about the Imperium and how it has to bend the rules of the Emperor nigh to breaking in order to hold back the Insurrectionists.

Mmmm… I'd been thinking about rail bows for Iron Bears' Ghost Walkers(Recon/Kill teams) I think they would be rather sexy, especially since we so many bow heavy cultures represented.

Yeah I think it'd be good for our setting to add in rules for famous militia and mercenary units; maybe even like the Dogs of War book. And I'd gladly give a hand with it as the Bears are done for now.

If we can't do Xenos units here maybe we could on Facebook.

As far as the Xenos/Abhuman units go I'd love some Demiurg units as well as a Ratling unit or two.

Well the Predators need to get their loyalist section in before they go traitor in book 5/6 (guessing)

Reviewing the outlines, yeah, they're definitely one of the top choices. The only other legion that might be warranted are the Fire Keepers since this is a siege we're talking about.

So, Predators or Fire Keepers, what do people think?

Speaking of the Fire Keepers and what book they go in...

I brought this up in the General thread the other day but nobody saw; how are we handling the Day of Revelation for them and the Warriors of Peace, book-wise? Because right now they are slated for different ones.
