Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i'm new here and i'll will show you my works on this topic.

It's a "little" force i'm working on, and i already have a few paint models.

But i'll not give you all the pics in this post, because i'm not a fast painter and i don't want to let you without news. :smile.:

So let's start with a little Castellax (three more coming soon):

Tell me, how do you like Valhallan Snow? I'm thinking of using them on my Death Guard to try and unify the army, but I hate working with bases (I just buy the Anvil Industry ones).

Grand Master Laertes:

Incaladion for the win, isn't it? :D

Loddfafnir113:

Thank you, hope you will like what's coming up next.

I never used Valhallan Snow, i just use a mix of artificial water and sodium bicarbonate.

I think it looks well so...

You can't go wrong with black flames on yellow plates :biggrin.:

It's nice to see some more love for this Forge World. And I second Dosjetka's question: how did you achieve that yellow tint? It is really great!

Dosjetka and Grand Master Laertes:

First of all thanks a lot. :)

Then the yellow is quiet easy to achieve.

first i paint the plate in Averland Sunset. Then i add some  Yriel Yellow. Finally the plate is in "pure"  Yriel Yellow.

Then, with a drawing pen, i draw the flames, and paint them.

Come weathering time!

Use some oil paint, Typhus Corrosion and pigments. And tadaaa!

Warsmith Krast:

Yes, the Thanatar is a real monster and his appearence has a huge impact on the table. :p

Black Cohort:

Thanks a lot dude!

We use the same formula for the yellow armour. Maybe it's the oil paints or the weathering that trick my eye in seeing your yellow with a richer orange-ish tint (that I like a lot), or maybe is the contrast with bigger black surfaces.

However, I am really intrigued by that teaser of your Tech-priest, and I am looking forward to se him in all his glory!

Charlo:

Thanks a lot! :)

Grand Master Laertes:

The oil did that i think. But it's possible that the bigger black surfaces help a lot.

So, no more spoiler, here are some pics of my Magos!

While I am not entirely sold on this modern idea of the Techpriests wearing the colours of their Forge World's army instead of the red of the Cult (man, I look old!), I really like your paintjob. More than that, however, I love your conversion. It's grim-dark, it's a frightful fusion of a necromancer with a cyborg-engineer, exactly what the Adeptus Mechanicus has always been. Also it nods subtly to a parte of the background of our belowed Forge World that I've loved since the release of the 3rd edition Codex: Necrons (those minuscule scarabs are a touch of genius)!

I recognize the body amd the shoulder guards of a Myrmidon, the powerfist of drakyvaak, a mechanic arm and the cortex from the archmagos dominus, the staff top of a necron, some necron scarabs. Not sure about his dataslate and his head, though. Edited by Grand Master Laertes
