++IV Legion: A Grimdark Horror++

Candleshoes

Well, well. Candleshoes. That's a name I haven't seen around the B&C for quite some time. Glad you're still around.

Beautiful conversion, really emotionally heart-wrenching. I dread to think what must have happened to the girl for her to be standing on a battlefield with warriors of the IV...

@Apologist
Thanks so much, it means a lot coming from someone who creates some of the strongest imagery on the board.

@IronDrake28

They just seem to have an industrial bulk about them...

@The Psycho

For something that is just so naturally out of character, it makes a moment of compassion some interesting ground the beginning of a story, and just as tragic, as they like all the other legions were heroes once.

@MagicMan

Such a cold, logical suggestion =)

@Marshal Rohr

Glad to be back! With so many incredibly dynamic poses in your models, I may or may not have stolen a few of your gob-smackingly good ideas for the project. Hope you don't mind.

Wow, absolutely love this. Great idea using Death Guard torso, I feel the Forge World IW torso aren't in keeping with the brutal utilitarian feel of the IV legion. Might borrow the idea for my own IW force!

Thank you! I think you may be the first to find my dudes dynamic :D ! I always struggle to find a way to make the legs work. Seriously though, our log owes a fair amount of inspiration to your Guardians of the Covenant and Dark Angels so that means a hell of a lot :) .

Thought it might be a good idea to put up my first early colour test for the army, before continuing with the log. It was painted several months ago, when inspired on seeing Apologist's work. The armour scheme is heavily influenced by his colour palette, with the rents and grime layered on, and very sparse on the colours save that single yellow stripe.

This chap was the test model that helped the project grow its legs and become more than just an idea, and the base was a learning experience in what a trench floor might look like. With the new GW mud texture paints recently come out, I think I might pick up some and see if they have a nice effect.

I have no doubt the first real painted mini for the log will vary from this test, but it will at least convey the mood and style I will be going for.
