There is a generation of people who idealize perfection as the existence of only one of these wings every time. But I see that a bird with one wing is imperfect. An angel with one wing is imperfect. A butterfly with one wing is dead. So this generation of people strive to always cut off the other wing in the hopes of embodying their ideal of perfection, and in doing so, have created a crippled race.

Welcome one and all to the latest project of mine, the crazed painter we refer to as Kurama; after much planning And procrastinating have decided to finally plunge into the depths of excess and perfection balancing the beauty and darkness that are reflective of the emperor's children legion.

This project has already proven to be a difficult undertaking, from compiling information trailing paint schemes and messing about with concepts and existing fluff and lore. Finally I decided upon a direction and followed it with the utmost enthusiasm I could muster, so what is the idea behind this project? Well I feel that out of all the 3rd legion projects around the interwebz there hasn't truly been a project that excites me with the speed, fury and hedonistic tendencies that I feel post istvaan the 3rd legion tried to embody.

So with that in mind I decided to focus on 3 aspects;
•Speed - this will be the main focus utilising Outriders as the main component of my force.
•Noise - from outriders with their engines blaring through to the kakophoni tearing their victims out with sonic booms, utilising the 3rd company RoW I can fulfill my troop choices with Kakophoni.
•Stratergy - the biggest hurdle will be synergy and utilising units correctly, the core of my force will be based around two ten man outrider squads and a attack bike squadron focusing on high AP weaponry to deal with priority targets.

So how will I go about this you may wonder; well I have been spitballing some character ideas and so far have come up with two characters;
•Khalor Ikaenade - My praetor character who can fulfill the role of eidolon if need be, I have the first rendition nearly finished but will most likely need to do a jump pack version and a bike version.
•Maleius Vatue - My primus apothecary who over looks the wellbeing and transformation of the 3rd company under tutelage from Fabius Bile, a rendition of this character on foot has been achieved but I will be looking at a bike mounted version down the road.

So before we go further I have settled on a paint scheme which follows as the following;
Armour
•Basecoat with Vallejo German Grey
•Airbrush Vallejo Squid Pink
•Wash with a diluted Druchii violet
•Highlight edges with Vallejo Alien Purple
Gold Trim
•Vallejo old gold
•Washed with nuln oil
•Drybrushed with Vallejo Gold brass

So first official update;

 

Now I'm currently in the process of my first outrider, why is this big news? Well replicating the scheme was a big worry for me, trying to replicate the colour over a larger surface made me worry I'd be saturated with far too much pink.

 

I've also settled on a simple astrogranite base scheme from the citadel range and should be able to tie in the army to a very simple yet effective basing scheme.

So I've still dot work to do but I'm happy that this scheme will transfer to the outriders without any qualm.

-BCK: I know I'm horrible but in saying that I've found a project I think I'm happy with finally

 

-BrotherDallo: thanks mate, yeah I'm pretty happy with the feedback so far I'm hoping I'll be able to feature these guys alongside the boys at the eye of Horus podcast sometime next year.

 

-Atia: Thanks brosis I'm happy and think I nailed it, as for the art I think it's definitely an improvement. I will be attempting to turn a whitescars head into this piece of art.

So update time- pics incoming

 

So I've been stockpiling as much pewter and finecast noise marine bits as I can get my hands on, I've started getting 100 casts of the sonic backpacks in production.

I've moved everything back into my old place 300km away and am in the process of setting everything up again, luckily I've got 20 outriders and 5 outrider honour guard and the start of my multimelta attack bike squad all ready for assembly.

 

I've also got my kakophoni here and a betrayal at Calth and prospero box for additional units. I'm hoping this week I can make some progress and start to produce high quality turnover, ohh and I got fulgrim so there's another project

Just hoping for some feedback on the blending concept, utilising 40k sonic weapons with kakophoni attempting to get a blend of predecessor and future evolution of the noise marine.

So long story short my mate who runs the Townsville GW helped my old man find the perfect gift and even enclosed a wonderfully beautiful message into my gift.

So I will be reinforcing with some 10 man tac squads in mk3 and prepping for some ETL vows.

 

Now I know that most people don't run landraider squadrons due to the points sink but I'm thinking I'd rather that then rhinos for transportation so the plan is to get 2 mkiib land raiders eventually.

 

I also have a massive update with outriders kakophoni etc after Christmas

Not going to lie had a bit of a schoolgirl moment after seeing ADB comment but I've pulled myself together and composed myself, now back on to the project. I'm finding that my motivation for the project is staying at a constant level and I'm not drifting too much off course, now with the outriders as I still have another 15 to paint and 5 to build for the honour guard and a conversion for a bike mounted praetor (using garro eidolon and the abbadon v loken kits) I'm getting a bit bike stupid. So I'm planning on purchasing 3 Baal predators and a betrayal at calth box to give me some generic troops. This will allow for a change from just the 3rd company elite row I'm focusing on.

 

Now I've finished 5 outriders but I'm considering adding some more decals and maybe washing back the metallics and adding some oils.
