Codex: Imperial Agents

So we know Codex Imperial Agents is going to be a thing.

So what are the odds this is where the Sisters of Battle will end up?

I can just see plastic battle sisters being released as the Sororitas cease to be a stand alone army. It seems par for the course.

The post from Atia said that Grey Knight and Deathwatch were going to be among the factions included in Codex: Imperial Agents.  Given that they are also existing standalone factions with their own Codexs, I don't think you can assume that means a Codex: Sisters of Battle won't be coming.

From what I've noticed, a lot of codices  fluff themselves out to be over 200 pages. The regular sisters codex is about 70 pages if you remove all the quotes and full sized images that make it 204 or so pages. The Space Wolf codex I have is about 200 as well. I believe my roomates' Orkz are the same.

So if the book looks thicker than a normal codex, it very well could be 2-3 in one. I just hope it's that and not 2 codices and all their art and crap together making it 400 pages.

On a side note, I wouldn't particularly care if sisters got mashed in with other things as long as they received updated rules to make them more competitive like they did with GSC. After looking over what GSC can do now, it's seriously scary. Having Sisters pushed back into some sort of Imperial book could benefit them as long as they don't drastically change what sisters are. Just think of the AoS books. A lot of factions are in one book, but they are still their own thing by every right. You just get more options to play with.

I am hoping that the Sisters get their time in the light for this.  I am thinking this and the Chaos one are going to be the new format moving along for the Codexes.  Would make sense if the rumors saying 8th ed is going to be a lot like Age of Puke.  I mean Sigmar.  Where those books have a lot of factions all in one and you can pick from a huge giant list.

Were it not for the rumours of plastic Sisters in the (relatively) near future I would almost be willing to put money on this just providing a print version of the digital Codex.

I dearly want it to be more than that, but this feels like it could just be a compilation of digital-only material with some other factions to pad things out.

So a sort of return to the Witch Hunter days? I'm not sure about this yet, if the other armies they mention are in the book it'll be pretty big so if it had Sisters in it'd be a huge book. I'm mostly curious to see what they do with the Inquisition as they need some expanded rules/options.

My reading of that last paragraph is that we will be able to use the units from this Imperial Agents book alongside our existing armies. I think they use SoB and GK as examples in a ' both ends of the spectrum' or just throwing a bone to less popular factions kind of way.

I would be surprised if SoB are rolled into this...but they could use the 'new plastic kits slots' for this codex release...and if the rules are good and balanced then I would take that.

I quite enjoyed mixing =I= units back in third Edition.

I just don't understand why folks get so excited about playing Adeptus Arbites in 40k.

As long as they can be a full army on there own with all units they have now plus some brand new ones, i wouldnt mind a merging, heck i been asking for this for some years now, i would like to see all Marine chapters in 1 book as well. Chaos could also have just 1 big book again and have Traitor guard added and all Eldar could fit in 1 dex as well.

Heck GW could go wild and do what they did with 7nth ed rule book for these codexes, 1 softcover lore and picture book + seperate softcover faction mini dex(es) with statts and rules all in 1 shiny bundle. With a Hardcover version and a Collectors edition.

The regular sisters codex is about 70 pages if you remove all the quotes and full sized images that make it 204 or so pages.

Not even that. It's 40 pages (20 double sided sheets) plus any hobby pages, and many of those are only half full. That includes the cover image, index, reference page, etc in addition to all the fluff and a page for each unit.

It's only 11 pages of units plus shared and named units (cultists, rhinos).

I doubt Deathwatch though as they have only just released the stand alone book.

The book has the same cover art as the old Inquisition Dex. My guess is that Inquisitors and Assassins for sure will be in there. To me, "Agents" in the title doesnt point to standing army types being in it. So I wouldnt expect Gray Knights, Death Watch, or Sisters to be in it.

Would be a fantastic way to roll in Rogue Traders and the horde of Imperial characters you see in fluff but never in armies though.

Might be fun for those of a mind to be able to build a detachment of various sources built around their Inquisitor rather than just allying in the Inquisitor to an existing force. Bye bye troop tax anyone?

"IMPERIAL AGENTS Loyal sons and daughters of the Imperium take heart, as whilst the Ruinous Powers may seek to be in ascendance as the year wanes, the God-Emperor's most righteous agents stalk the stars ready to enact his will.

Codex: Imperial Agents contains nine subfactions of the Imperial war-machine, from agents of the Inquisition to Wyrdvane Psykers of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica to reinforce your armies of the Imperium. After all, Deathwatch Kill Teams and Imperial Assassins are just as likely to be found working alongside regiments of the Astra MIlitarum or Space Marine strike forces as they are working by themselves, giving the Armies of the Imperium increased tactical choice and scope to conquer any foe.
Within this volume you'll find background and rules for using nine smaller factions alongside your existing armies of the Imperium, from the Grey Knight Terminator squads to the Battle Sisters of the Adepta Sororitas."

This is apparently a quoted description of what is in the book. The way it's worded, in my opinion, seems to suggest that it includes allies you would take alongside existing armies of the Imperium. Such armies of the Imperium includes Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle. It could be argued that it means the allies in the book include Grey Knights and Sisters of battle..but Grey Knights already have a codex. Why would they have a codex, be a legitimate army already (unlike the Assassins), and then mash them ALSO into this book? And if the Grey Knights aren't going to be mashed in, that means the Sisters are being counted as their own army at the very least, and could end up with a newer codex at most.

Or this book is replacing the grey knights codex as the rumors about them going a route with 40k more inline with that of Age of sigmar, thus making compiled codex's that combine several factions that are similar into fewer books.   Either way, it is more proof that sisters are getting some updates, even if it is a combine book.  Since they are smaller factions, it doesn't limit you to fielding just one of those smaller Nine factions with this book, but is also allows for flexibility as well which gives Sisters access to some other units/vehicles that you could then from a hobby perspective customize.

It could just be a 'Taster' version of the existing factions, so just one or two units for SoB and GK to represent a small attached force.

It seems rather weird to do that if they're releasing a whole codex. That's normally supplement territory. Plus there's already a ton of armies they could put into this book. They already mentioned it contains nine sub-factions such as Inquisition, Astra Telepathica, Assassins, and Deathwatch. You could easily assume Custodes and Sisters of Silence are being thrown into this as well. That's already six factions right there.

Edit: I wanna say people are thinking Arbites are being tossed in as well..so that's seven.

Hopefully they'll announce more this week, I've just been converting an Inquisition Kill Team and I really hope they don't change acolytes too much, or at least add more options instead of removing the existing ones.

'from the Grey Knight Terminator squads'

That's the line that makes me think its just a small selection from each army.

Well, just got my DW Codex so if this ends up having DW as well as SoB and something else I play with in it for a reasonable price... meh. I do find it rather unlikely that it'd be 9 "smaller factions" that have no codex at all yet though, so... But we shall see, I suppose.

Wyrdvane Psykers

Priests

Assassins

Inquisitors

Acolytes/ Conclaves (DCA, Crusaders, Arcoflagellants, Acolytes)

Sisters of Silence

Custodes

Storm Troopers

Legion of the Damned

????

This is my guess based off units that can be added to other units with decent effect but don't really make whole armies themselves.

I honestly just think it's poor wording on their part. I believe they're just using examples of Imperium armies that the agents will be allied with. Just like in the middle where they mention Imperial Guard and Space Marines.

This seems a way for them to give a bunch of sub-factions and supplements a true codex. Sisters of Silence and Custodes for example. Even Arbites...which would only have like 5 different units.
