Here's a trial for you, just text, from the quick-reply box, just like the other one it happened to.

It happened before the Forge post, in Amicus too, again, from the QR box.

If it leaves a blank post here, I'll copy it, and add it in quotes from the full reply option.

Always, so far, just text.  I haven't needed to post pictures yet.  Plus, I usually do those from my phone, with the mobile friendly settings enabled, and never get a scrap-code issue.

Below is always present when using the full editor...  Could that relate to the scrap-code at all?

Anyways, this is a post from the full editor in reply to your question.

Looks like it's putting that <script> tag in, which would be removed by the system - in this case your entire post as it would be encased within the tag. The BBCode WYSIWYG editor should never be inserting this tag and not anything in HTML formatting either. It could be related but without any other reports of this it would be best to rule out other possibilities.

Did you make the above blank post purely from the quick-replay box and is there anything else you can elaborate on? For example any plugins/extensions on your browser that might be assisting data entry etc? I'm presuming you're entering the text normally, without pasting in from elsewhere.

I've got a pop-up blocker  - Pop up blocker for Chrome 4.0.5.91 and Ad filter - AdRemover for Chrome 1.1.1.0 - plugins running, but that has never caused QR usage to vanish after hitting the submit or whatever it says button.

Everything has been typed in as I would usually use the site when I use the laptop.  Grammarly is active for the text-entry, but, again, it has never caused vanishing text and only highlights spelling or grammatical error, it never automatically fixes things, you have to actively hover the mouse then click to make suggested changes.

The <script> tags have appeared by default each time I have used the full text-editor page, so I can't comment if others are seeing them and just deleting them, or ignoring them or what.  Not sure if they appear for you?

That blank post was totally from the QR box, and, just used to demonstrate the issue, hence quoting what was supposed to be in it in the following post, as I know replication helps lead to solutions.

This is the first time in a week or so of using the laptop to post, as, again, I generally use my phone, I just happened to have the laptop out today.

Thanks for the detailed response Damo, your blockers shouldn't be causing any issues here. I've never seen the <script> tags appear and without anyone else reporting the same problem is sounds like it might be local. If you use BBCode mode to check and remove the tags then you'll be able to post normally as a temporary measure. If you use the mobile skin on your mobile you could try that on your laptop to see if it still happens, if it does I'd advice scanning your laptop to be on the safe side.

Sorry for the delay...  Been busy, then had a game.

Somethign interesting happened earlier today, I replied to a topic in the Raven Guard forums earlier, where I pasted a link.  I had kind of forgotten about the vanishing post issue, and used the QR box.  I'd typed a reply, then inserted the link, and hit the submit button.

The usual Scrap-code came up, but, on refreshing, the post was there.

Victory?

Unfortunately not.  I just replied to a different thread in the RG forum, and the post vanished when I used the QR box.  Luckily, I had copied the post, just in case.  I then went in, edited it with the full editor, and the post went fine.

Virus Scan came back clean, it did the same when I used MS Edge, or whatever the built in browser with Windows 10 is called, and Caches etc have all been cleared out today too.

So, pasting a link in somehow prevent the post from vanishing, however, it didn't fix the vanishing post issue that seems related to the scrap-code.

I hope that helps a little more.

That's no problem, forums don't require instant replies for a reason ;) The scrap code is a separate issue so will still be there for any quick reply post, but the addition of the <script> tag seems to be a trickier beast. I'm afraid without any way to replicate this I'm running out of options. Can you add the mongotruck domain to your blocker's list (wildcard/full domain block is best)? There's a chance it's poking its nose into your posts, or causing this indirectly.

Ok, we've gotten somewhere, and a new issue has appeared.  Hopefully, this post will show up...

I've installed Domain Blocker for Chrome, and blocked the mongotruck domain by using the *momgotruck.com method, so whildcard/full domain, correct?

However, Chrome now crashes if I try to use the "More Reply Options" buttion, which I found out when I was trying to reply to this.  Therefore, I am using the QR box to try this.

So, with any luck, the vanishing post issue could be solved, and I just have an odd spot where I can't access the full input editor.

EDIT:

So, vanishing post appears to be stopped, but, then again I am quoting, so, I'll post below from the QR box with just test, if it's empty, I still have it, if it reads, that post can be deleted, if you don't mind, and the scrap code is just back to being there smile.png

EDIT 2:

Nope, empty post issue is still here too.... as you can see below...

Sorry about this...

It shouldn't be causing an issue as mongo isn't necessary for the site to work (presuming that's a typo in your rule there). I'm not familiar with this plugin but assuming that rule is correctly implemented it should just block it. How does it crash? Does it load until timeout? Before you added the plugin and rule did the full reply page take a little while to load sometimes?

Sorry, should read *mongotruck.com is blocked.

Before blocking mongotruck the full reply page loaded as usual, now it says there is an error with a script on the page and if I refresh, it goes back to the B&C homepage.

So, it sounds like mongotruck is inserting itself somewhere if that happens when I've blocked it?

Sounds like it could be the plugin, can you try disabling it and blocking the domain through your adblocker instead? A "softer" block might be what you need.

I'll have a look later on. I've not yet found how to block sites or domains on just the ad blocker, it just offers me exception fields for where to allow ads.

Depends on the blocker, I use Adblock Plus for example and that has plenty of functionality such as this.

Can you provide the link you tried to visit on the galleries? Was it member gallery pages or a particular gallery (or both/more)? When you say a redirect do you mean a proper redirect as in it sends you to another website or is it just trying to access it? Any information you can provide will be helpful.

As Kurgan mentioned you can do something to help locally with your browser, that may also help with this:

Just as a quick temporary measure, if you have some form of blocking capability then you can block this from your browser and speed things up. The URL is:

http://mongotruck.com/google_stat.php
Though I would recommend blocking the entire mongotruck domain while you're there. Please note that this won't do anything for the response problems (in topic posts, likes etc - the scrap code) but it will prevent it from slowing down page loads smile.png

Everyone has an ad-blocker right? msn-wink.gif As mentioned it would be best to put a blanket block on anything with "mongotruck.com" in, to catch any and all variations.

A redirect, as in it sends you directly to the other site, and blocking the domain means that the browser simply freezes up when you use those buttons and you can't do anything because it has prevented the redirect, but is no longer trying to access the B&C either.

Thanks BB, that's not good. I've been unable to replicate this, I'll see if I can dig something up.

Bryan: have you tried to post a new topic on another browser? I'm running one of the most recent versions of Firefox and cannot replicate this issue either.

It only happens for me in mobile mode. When I switch to normal browser mode it posts normally (which isn't really normal either, it has that scrap code from earlier)
