Some rough ideas for Primarch Kyknos

Small Introduction

Some may know me as a frequent commenter, who never posted any army himself.

(Some may even know my start of an IA, which I will revive hopefully somewhere in the nearer future).

The problem besides having not really much hobby euros, I could spend, is also that there is a myriad of ideas for army fluff and stories in my head, which further boosts my already great procastrination issues.

If I ever make this into a conversion or army project I cannot say at the moment. Nonetheless I´d be thankful for everyone kind enough to leave a reply! smile.png

Nonetheless I thought it wasn´t a bad idea to share some thoughts on a possible lost primarch (I have more ideas for him than for his troopers so I won´t say that much about them yet), because the concept seems quite functional in need for a better word (mind that, though I can speak and especially write in English quite fluently, it´s not my first language).

I will avoid any semi-literature writing or a lexicanum-like article for now, because the whole thing is not that fleshed out.

So BEHOLD (the humble beginnings of)...

Kyknos, the brilliant, the seafarer and blessed son of Athena!

Kyknos was a primarch, the Emperor set great hopes in, being as talented in diplomacy and as a politician as in war.

A visionary, eager to explore the galaxy as to expand the imperial power, his ambitions drove him far from the Emperor´s light.

Being scolded for conquering worlds to hastily as well as his use of manipulation and deceit, left him resentful and pursuinh his own agenda,

which would eventually lead to his downfall.

- Kyknos is the second primarch of the Emperors Astartes project, now purged from imperial records.

- Once favoured by his father, who only preferred Horus over him, he seemed perfect for the enormous galactic-wide armed enterprise

known as the great crusade.

- A brilliant strategist and a great statesman he was admired by many of his primarch peers, but also despised for his masterful use of

psychological tricks, manipulation and his ruthlessness.

- Living on an underdevelopped ocean world, he quickly rose to fame among the natives and united his planet under his role with a

mix of force, intimidation and political bargaining.

- Great charisma, even greater ambitions and tendencies to megalomania

- Erratic persona, master of pretense

about his cold, knowing eyes even as an infant and in his mind suspecting him of being the course of past and future misfortunes, he

gave in for the sake of his beloved spouse.

- Astonishing, unnatural beautiful child, said to be able to appear extremely fair to everyone even if it means to change his appear for

foreigners with completely other standards of beauty

vanished.

small contingent of his fathers troops, he expands greatly his fathers domain, power and wealth, while being as young as eleven.

quickly learns at and bests the greatest thinkers and philosophers of his time, his main interest being rethoric and politics.

- Famed in the city for his brilliance he becomes a general-for hire for the isle defeating several attacks of a feared militaristic rival.

- Granted a wish by the people of /name/ he wants them to consider an alliance with his home state.

- While hearing of his adopted sons great glory his king father back home visits the famed oracle of /nameofworld/ and asks him about

the fate of himself and his adopted son. Oracle answered "His father will live in joy of him, his glory will spread to the stars, but if his

plans unravel, men and gods will weep and he will be forgotten."

- With the new-forged alliance a great campaign for conquest is launched which ultimately swallows the whole world. In the name of his

father for whom he achieved many honours Kyknos achieves the unity of whole Athena.

- Equally using sheer and brutal force, effective diplomacy, treaties and shenanigans, the planet is united within ten years. Kyknos,

though beloved by most who follow him, doesn´ shy away to use lies, bribery or murder to reach the quests given him

the first of equals.

- Granted another favour by the alliance, he asks for the most gifted young men and ten scholars (from philosophers to shipwrights) to

help him on another quest, which he asks for the allowance to persue in secret.

- The council allows him this wish, in return he promises not to seek any power for another ten years or his quest is done.

- Embarking on his self-constructed ship, he and the now fully educated young men sail the world searching for famed artefacts known in

ancient myths.

- After having thought monsters and solving great enigmas, discovering the wonders and terrors of Athena, on their way the group is

attacked by a force of the former archenemies, which are in fact, hired by his adoptive father.

- His companions killed he escapes the scene on the wreck of his ship and is only rescued by a coming storm, which miracolously sends

him back to /bigislename/.

- Where he suprises the people with his discovery of his quest: The parts of an ancient machine, which, set together allow men to travel

the heavens and discover new worlds.

- The capital /bigislename celebrates the return of its hero with month of festivities. Kyknos is offered the position of ruler once more, but

refuses and only asks for help building the machine.

- Using all of his intelligence and the help of his fathers advisor and childhood teacher he manages to build the machine.

- With a new crew of companions he starts a journey to the stars.

- While being in the void, his adoptive father, who sees the prophecy fulfilled, lets rumours be spread of Kyknos, searching the skies for

power to enslave his fellow people

- After coming home from his journey, his name and statues (etc) bearing his likeness, he is declared a traitor to his people and

demanded to be killed.

- The only place to find shelter is his old home, where he is helped by the people of his childhood and his mother.
