I absolutely love the realism of your fluff. I am a veteran myself and this screams that the unit is a real tangible thing, props brother guardsmen!

Well update time again for me. It may be a while before I can do another. Real life has a nasty tendency to creep up on you when you least expect it.

 

Here is the converted Sergent is all painted up. He reminds me of the really old Storm troopers with the large back pack. He was a bugger to paint, I was thinning and thinning but the atmosphere is so dry here it was tough.

The eagle eyed among you may have noticed the Officio Prefectus bolt pistol in the previous post. Well that was for this lovely lady, Commissar Rayne.

I didn't like the gun she came with and normal bolt pistols looked far too big, the mini is from Wargame exclusive and it really is small! My eyes struggled a bit trying to paint her but I think she turned out ok. She will probably end up being a stand in as a squad leader as I am running out of ideas for Sergent's haha!

Thank you comrades for the kind comments. The Sentinel really was a spontaneous buy but it worked out well as I learnt a lot from painting it. It's the biggest thing I have painted so far and I really enjoyed it. (Apart from my cheap brush shedding hairs everywhere haha!) I need to try and resist buying any more until February but then I'm planning to get a Valkyrie! Of course I always have my eye on eBay as with Kasrkin that's pretty much my main source for them. If a bargain comes up I pretty much have to grab it!

Good evening all. Emperors blessings be with us all in these dark times. Cadia fallen...but still the 171st will fight on.

Update time from me. Its funny how much your life can change in such a small amount of time. Since my last update my partner of 8 years

 out of the blue left me. Its come as a shock to the system. Even more annoying is my unit was named after our anniversary...might have to

change the regimental fluff and number otherwise I will be eternally pissed off when I look at my men.

 

So what do you do when your partner of 8 years leaves you high and dry. You buy a Valkyrie of course.

Sounds to me like you've just had a lot of time and money freed up to spend on more important things: you 40k! :wink: I find quiet hobby time great for forgetting the rest of the World (except the B&C, of course) so what better way to busy yourself than something cool like a Valkyrie? :smile.: Keep us updated on your progress :D

Sorry to hear Ryu! Nothing like diving straight into the hobby to take your mind off things for a bit.

 

For an extra treat I'd buy the FW upgrade kit too and magnetise the wing mounts so it can be a vendetta or valk!

I am really enjoying putting this Valkyrie togeather. Commissar Rayne is over seeing the work with a stern eye! I bought some Tamiya cement and this stuff is amazing! I really recommend it, its very thin like painting on clear coat but bonds very fast with out leaving those stringy hairs and overflow. Smells pretty strong though.

That cockpit looks really cool,reminds me of the consoles on the bridge of the Enterprise anddd now I kinda want one!

Little update from me. I got a few supplies from games workshop on Saturday and Sunday was a bright and warm day, great for painting! Ive got the undercoat, base coat, base wash and a quick dry brush done so far. The model was nice to put together, the only issues i had was searching sprues for bits haha

 

Sad news is the Valkyrie transfer sheets from Forge world are out of stock, I called them and they said they don't know if they will be re-stocking :sad.: If anyone has any spare bits left from that transfer sheet Id happily take them off you hands. :smile.:

I really like the quality of the new GW brushes

The medium basing brush is a god sent too!

 

Yeah the basing brush working over a smooth sprayed on undercoat was lovely! I am certainly thinking of picking up a medium eventually too!

Update on my first Valkyrie. Shes coming along! Looking a little more battle worn and grimy now :smile.: I know its a very basic colour scheme but I'm a very basic painter ha! My potato phone camera doesn't show all the colours amazingly but you can get the idea :smile.:

Emperors blessing to all. I'm happy to present, Valkyrie 01 of the 52nd Naval tactical squadron. Piloted by Squadron leader Lt S.Kimura and her Gunner 2nd Lt A.Digger. I loved putting this together and painting it! I'm pleased with how it turned out, especially the weathering on the landing skids, it was the first time I have done any serious weathering like this. Thank you again Games workshop videos! I'm looking forward to adding more and getting everyone airborne. Also this marks the stage where I now have 500pts completed, they are unbound due to the Sentinel but if anyone is around Tokyo and wants to help me get back into the gaming side Id love a game!
