Question about collecting sisters

So I am starting to get the feeling that GW is releasing a box game then releases the forces in those boxes. This has been seen with Deathwatch, Thousand Sons and Harlequins. This could possibly mean that Sisters might be coming up in 2017.

I am thinking about saving up for their release to make sure I am ready financially to pick up around $1000 worth of models/books including the limited edition codex if released.

What I am wondering is. If this release does actually happen, what models on the current line should I pick up? From what I can tell the models that have been getting re-released have been getting re-idealized or flavored a bit and quite possibly increased in size which can be seen with the Deathwatch in comparison with the older marine models.  So the older models could look really out of place.

Regardless. Which models do you all think would been keepers from the old line?

If they are really going to remake SoB, probabilly only the Rhino (and tecnically that's incorect too, as for a true SoB's Rhino you need to use the Immolator/Exorcist kit).

I always like seeing new members of the sororitas collector's community :) welcome :)

Of currently produced sister models that are gorgeous and are likely to get an overhaul if the prophecy comes true, I'd buy (personal taste is a strong factor here ):

Celestine , because she may be very pretty when she'll be made anew but she is already great

The hospitaler sister , looks great too

A repentia , awesome style

And if you have money :

A penitent engine, they are a pain to assemble but they look great - it'll also distinguish you from the plastic pen engine owners of the distant future ;)

An exorcist , because an organ that fires missiles, that's why :)

If the sisters of silence are any indication, the new sisters of battle will be significantly taller than the current line.

If you are into nostalgia and want the old sculpts, then go ahead and pick them up. But my suspicion is that if you really wanted them, then the price would not have been a barrier all this time.

But ultimately I think you are asking the wrong question. You should be asking which ones you like best.

For me it has to be the hospitalior model. Because my backstory is that they are one of the hospital minor orders.

I really hope that when sisters come out that we will be able distinguish the minor orders, but the more realistic side of me is only expecting the major orders.

Regarding the OP's original question... Waiting for plastic sisters is kind of a crap shoot. They may come out, may not. Collecting Adepta Sororitas can be a labour of love at times.

If you're looking to pick up some models now though, the benefit to the Adepta Sororitas is the models from the current range are all metal. So no matter how bad the paint job is, little wash in some acetone, and they come out brand new.

Except for Celestine, I've bought most of my army used this way. Keep an eye out for bulk lots on craigslist, local wargaming trading groups, etc. just be patient. I'd recommend avoiding ebay as most of the prices are quite high (sometimes Buy It Now prices even higher than retail!).

Models I'd suggest to keep an eye out for are Celestine, any special/heavy weapon girls, penitent engines and the immolator/exorcist kit. Both of these kits come with a sisters vehicle upgrade sprue which is great to sister-fy space marine rhinos. Contrary to the advice above I would avoid the Hospitalier model. It's not a common model to use in many lists and the sculpt is quite small even compared to an existing battle sister.

Happy hunting! Cheers!

A significant portion (as in anything up to 2/3) of my army (4K once it's completely painted) is second hand. I have bought a lot of models from my local GW, but I used to scour ebay daily for the stuff you can't get in stores any more (I have 5 or6 Seraphim Superiors... laugh.png ) and I've been very fortunate to get most of it at very good prices smile.png

eBay is worth a look, if you're patient smile.png
