Ah! I forget you can share transports nowadays, good call on shooty/stabby combo. I have two squads of Terminators that will be dropping first turn with Abaddon, and plasma Havocs would certainly benefit from his aura :tu: then a choice of Berzerkers, Chosen or even Possessed? Can’t see a 1st turn charge likely unless ‘zerks with Icon.

EDIT - my heavy support will be a Deredeo, Rapier Laser Destroyers and a Dakka Sicaran

Sorry to double post my fellow Legionaries - but I am back now, so unlucky :P - I am thinking on a conversion for the great Falkus Kibre for my Legion to be used as a Champion or Chaos Lord.

Now I have heard for wargear he rolls with two Thunder Hammers in the current timeline and still wears Cataphactii plate?

There is not a lot of info on the Widowmaker out there, but there is a description in Talon of Horus though that is not set in the current timeline and he makes an appearance in the Nightlord Trilogy? (I haven’t read it)

Any mutations? Does he wear a helmet still? Daemonic Armour? Which of the Night Lord books does he appear in? Any help would be great.

Cheers!

Indeed, Falkus wields two thunder hammers and is still wearing his cataphractii armor in Talon of Horus. His chestplate features golden decoration and an Eye of Horus. He's wearing a helmet featuring the typical Justaerin plume aswell as a set of horns. The book describes him as being touched by the Eye's corrupting influence, mentioning bony protrusions on the elbow plates and knuckles.
Spoiler for Talon:

During the course of the book, Falkus and his Justaerin get possessed by daemons - could be a reason to really go all-out with armor corruption!

It’s been a while since I read Talon and wasn’t sure if he was affected by the whole

JUSTAERIN-DAEMONIC-POSSESSION-ONE-CONSCIOUSNESS-SHOCKER
and if he was affected then that would actually be really awesome, and greatly add a dynamic to his character.

EDIT - righto, re-read the applicable chapters of Talon :)

*delicious ideas form in brain*

*decide also to re-read whole book as I get sucked in*

:cuss yeah!! If the re-sculpts of the other chaos named characters are anything to go by, we are in for a treat. It is a question of when rather than if imho

As to the other rumours of him coming out with Obliterators or mutated Black Legion Terminators? I think it will more likely be the Oblits as I can’t see us getting Legion only toys, as in fairness we use everybody else’s :D

As for Bandwagon jumpers, the more the merrier - the Legion takes all who would follow the Warmaster -

from shame and shadow recast, in black and gold reborn.

Thirteenth Black Crusade.

Cadia has fallen.

A warp rift tears across reality.

And you want to jump on the bandwagon now? Good timing :smile.: More is always merrier!

I am pretty excited about these rumors. Dark Gods know we need new sculpts. I've been itching for our own Triumvirate box since the loyalist and elder got one with that gathering storm.

I've barely painted my guys up but I am going all black & gold. I really want them all to be uniformed personally and fluff wise my warband are all truly devoted to their new legion that they just donned the black without hesitation upon induction. Plus, many of them already had black armor. Though it is super tempting to paint my berzerkers in white armor and with one red shoulder and one Black Legion shoulder pad to bring in some old WE colors.

My fluff has been built around the First Black Crusade where three warbands of the Black Legion work in unison to reap and terrorize the Imperium. Not long after they will combine to form the Splintered warband led by Chieftain Sleipnir, the Pale King. Before that Sleipnir was formerly of the First Legion, left languishing on Caliban, and a supporter of Luther. He was lost to the warp vortex that followed in the wake of the destruction of the Lion's homeworld. Not much is known following that save he would be found in the eye at the head of his new warship raiding and marauding until coming across an emerging Black Legion.

Yarp my dudes all wear the Black too, I wouldn’t have it any other way as I love the black/gold scheme, and never really been into the more disjointed schemes. My Khorne guys do have red daemonic flesh on their armour it has to be said though.

My warband is called the Black Harbingers, and is led by Khargor Bane, an ex-Sons of Horus Reaver who goes by the moniker of ‘The Fell Reaver’. A mighty Khornate Warlord, I do have a constantly evolving TDA Lord to represent him (which I have never finished!) and a veritable mountain of equally evolving fluff for him and the Harbingers of which I have never published, just waiting for the day when I finally finish him lol I originally had as a Daemon Prince, but I find TDA Lords more interesting. He actually hears voices in his head which come from his shape shifting daemon weapon, and is on his way to ascension....or spawndom....:D

EDIT - it’s funny, I have actually been working on him this week -

There are more pictures in the link in my sig (shameless plug ;) )

Mine all wear the Black w/varying metals, but it's kinda cheating, since they're all Black Lions and the Dark Angels used to be black anyway. I use yellow trim and Eyes of Horus on certain eye-catching parts to make their new allegiance obvious. I also have them retain a fair amount of red and lots of pale tan robes, along with some defaced DA iconography.

My Chaos Lord is a Terminator and a former member of the Dreadwing who followed Vortigern when he joined Abaddon. Still working on the rest.

My Dreadreavers are wearing black and gold too, with cthonian gang runes spread over their armor and some minor variations to certain units like berzerkers and plague marines. That's because they are still largely organized like they were at their inception as the Sons of Horus' 55th company. The majority of their members are still of sixteenth legion gene-stock, but they've accepted any space marine that would live by their code over the course of the Long War. Their leader is Dyrath Kal, who also goes by the moniker of the Black Legate. He has been in charge of the 55th company since the Triumph at Ullanor. Ten thousand years later, they still resemble the old legion so much that Abaddon has grown suspicious of them, though he has never chastised the warband due to their unwavering loyalty. These doubts are not completely unfounded, though - rumor has it that certain elements of the warband still pay respect to their fallen gene-sire...

I started with a Sons of Horus 30k in sea green but only play 40k so recently bending towards a 1st company where all the reavers (zerkers) and tanks/contemptors etc are in essentially Black legion black and gold. As for using sea-green troops.... well after reading The Talon of Horus I like to think I'm playing out post-heresy early unification Black legion. (still doesn't explain away all the Eye of Horus...)

Just finished my Terminator Lord for my Black Lions. I paint in a rough "Frank Miller" style to accomodate my shaking hands and motor control disability. Sorry if that puts anyone off, but I think it came out well.

Any advice for a fledgling chaos lord? I've been waiting for new chaos marines, and now that they are on the way I want to play the best of all worlds, Black Legion. I know the cult troops aren't the best, but I rarely play. I just want to make a cool collection. I might start with some Rubrics or Plagues in Black, or convert up a chaos lord. Or continue my Noise Marine conversion plans. I kinda want to do a four horsemen of chaos thing, one lord for each god, their cult troops, and then abby at the top.

Cult troops are decent if you lean hard into a given cult's style of play. With regard to Troops, the BL is one of the few armies that can actually field a Power Armor horde and have it work, due to their morale control and special stratagem bonus for Troop CSM squads. There was recently mention on here of an army with Abby and over 100 marines winning a tournament. Multi-god can also work since Abaddon himself has multiple marks and you can get some interesting synergies if you build for lots of Sorcerers and Command Points as well.

Any posts written by TechSoldaten or Malisteen should help you. TechSoldaten in particular has vast experience playing the Legion in a horde/gunline style, often with multiple marks, if memory serves.

Finally....do you like Dark Angels? The "Black Legion Trilogy" of novels recently added a warband of Fallen Dark Angels to the Legion's canon, including one who is a member of Abaddon's inner circle. Therefore, it would be easy to buy a secondhand copy of Dark Vengeance, some of the new Marines (when they come out), and go nuts!

If you scroll up, you can see my own Black Lion Chaos Lord.

Everyone excited for possibilities for the second Black Legion character?

Name (as far as I could see) is Obsesdius Malleiax? or something like that?

Given his point cost I would imagine Lord stats + some unique gear maybe a unique rule?

I would imagine Black Legion trait required to use him. Neat option IMO just having another character.

He most likely has a thunder hammer, which is very cool but won’t necessarily make him much better than the power fist we currently have access to. Warlord trait or a special aura or something could make the difference. Having more legion-specific characters is nothing but a good thing!
