Terran born Raven Guard.

Claws and Effect

Recommended Posts

Okay, I haven't had a chance to read all the Raven Guard books, so this question could be a dumb one.

Has it been established that 100% of the Terran Raven Guard that Corax exiled were killed off? Or is there some ambiguity there?

I ask because I had the idea of creating a Chaos warband that started out as exiled Raven Guard who turned to Chaos because they felt their Primarch betrayed them. Like they were offered a chance to join Chaos instead of death and a few of them accepted the offer in order to get vengeance on Corax for his betrayal (in their eyes).

I was thinking of calling them the Carrion Crows and keeping them very close to a Heresy-era RG color scheme. And also making their true origin a mystery to the Imperium at large.

Plausible?

Nope, there were still some Terran RG present in the legion even after Istvaan V. Probably those legionaries who were dispersed in more Deliverance-born dominated companies and units.

As far as I know the Battle of Gate 42, where Corax utilised the Terran companies in the assault, was aimed at eradicating the warrior lodge culture (and loyalty to Horus) rather than the Terrans themselves. As such Terrans that were unaffiliated to the lodges were most likely left alone.

Commander Soukhounou, commander of the Hawks detachment, is Terran born.

You could even make fluff of a Terran RG dominated Chapter after the break up of the legion. Maybe somewhere along the way they lost faith?

Malal would be a great fit if he were still mainstream canon. Barring that Khorne because of their bloodthirsty Terran lineage could also be an alternative. If you chose to go Nurgle to fit the death and carrion theme, an interesting twist could be that even though they are devout followers of Nurgle, they aren't hideously bloated or mutated. Just normal looking CSM dudes but who have a powerful affinity for Nurgle is something I've never seen since Nurgle followers seem to be universally bloated and diseased.

Keep in mind there are one or two Nurgle warbands that are not bloated but kind of have a black "leaking" liquid look. Can't remember the names but they were in the old Chaos books as guys who are devoted to Nurgle. I like the carrion look idea.

I've of those is The Cleaved. Rotting inside their armor, like Nurgle rubricae or something.
