It's that time again...

My work and my limited data have prevented me from recognizing the date, but it is, indeed, the fifth anniversary of the Brotherhood of the Lost. Without a doubt, this last year has been the most volatile in the memory of BotL. New faces join, old members disappear, and we make some progress are the usual points that can be brought to bear.

Not so this last year.

We have seen the retirement of an entire universe and the birth of a brand new one. While some familiar faces remain, the Frater who now function as the pillars to the new project, Five Ruins, are as new as the AU is. It is with regret that these changes were not welcomed as a hearty new direction, but a reaction to a disaster of the collision of different philosophies.

Yet, BotL stands.

From this foundation of wreckage, we have proven the old adage that defeat is simply the opportunity to do better. Five Ruins may feature several of the Old Guard, but they stand with newer icons of loyalty, ambition, and corruption. We welcome additions such as Absalom, the newest Prince of Slaanesh; Alianaktuk, the Champion of Abhumans; and Araphel, the Colossus and Master of the First. New tales and connections come alive as personalities collide.

Because, ultimately, we are more than just purveyors of fandom and the path not taken. We are creators. We are engaged in one of the highest forms of humanity: the harnessing of the creative spark that separates us from all other lifeforms on our humble planet. As explorers of the infamous 'What if's, we forge through fresh paths of possibilities. Most importantly, we harness this spark not for its own sake, but as a means of connection between us as human beings. We share, we experience, and we give to each other through text, word, and art. We remind ourselves that each of us is a person who brings something unique to the table and are richer for it.

So, this year, I repeat the promises of years past. BotL will continue onward as we weave new stories and discover what lies beyond the veil of tomorrow. I invite all to watch and join in.

The Brotherhood of the Lost has added another year, reaching a respectful six years of life and work. This past year has seen significant change. We have danced around possibility, increased our ranks, and hit milestones.

This was the year that saw us lose a legion and gained a legion. A tempest has replaced a forge, and we are eager to see the possibilities that come from this significant change. This was also the year that saw the creation of the Succession Crisis. No longer do the Ruins come as an unexpected blow in a vacuum, but capitalize on a growing rift between warlords.

This is also the year we welcomed several new members to crew. Antus is our newest Legion Grandmaster. Pugboi takes up the cog as the Mechanicum Grandmaster. We welcome them and others who have joined the journey.

Finally, we celebrate the success of our wiki as it grows and grows, all thanks to the tireless efforts of Trajan. We celebrate as we have reached the First Ruin. And we continue to celebrate the uncountable minor victories that keep a project ever moving forward!

*Ad Astra!*
