He didn't even started? That is indeed annoying.

Well to be fair I highly doubt we're the only commission he has going on at the moment, there are probably commissions he got before ours that he still has to do plus given the size of our commission and the length of time it'd take to complete he probably wants to get the smaller, quicker work out of the way.

I've been sending e-mails every two weeks and keeping an eye on his Deviantart. He's active so I know he's not dead, but I'm not getting responses.

Also, given the overwhelming favor, I'm talking to Grifft about setting up the preview.

Well, I might just be spoiled AS none of my commissions took so long. I mean just a composition sketch would be already fine.

I'll poke him again tomorrow.

In other news, I'm feeling healthy enough to start posting regularly, and I managed to read the new rulebooks' entire fluff while I was down.

In the meantime, did my son (about 20 months old) start to reach for my copy of Wrath of Magnus, trying to say Magnus.

Seems like he's on the right way of becoming the next generation of the BotL. :P

@Simi: What do you think of the "new" stuff? I'm curious if all mentioned Warzones will be expanded upon. If so, I'd love to read more about the Bloodcrusade, the War in the Rift and the Stygius campaign. :)

Technically, yes. Practically, no. There is only two pages given to the four warzones, except Ultramar which received four. Out of that, half of it is actual description, while the other half are images and unit lists.

So, the warzones are 'expanded' upon, but it's really brief stuff.

My thoughts after reading everything is that this book is a goldmine for names and potential armies/factions to develop, like the new named Necron dynasties.

One thing I'm annoyed about is with Guilliman. Even though the Great Rift is supposed to prevent all Warp travel, Guilliman seems to be able to hop over it at will, and it feels like he's everywhere. He's at Terra. Now, he's at Macragge. Now, he's at Baal. And you have no idea how he's doing all of this or how much time is passing.

Abaddon after his victory seems to have outright disappeared, not in-universe but in the writing.

So far, only Guilliman, Magnus, and Mortarion have been mentioned, no hints of the remaining Primarchs.

Biel-Tan, the Craftworld, is officially dead and was apparently the necessary trigger to give Ynnead 'life'. They are now an Eldar fleet-based force.

Only the Death Guard and the Thousand Sons are given a page of fluff. The rest of the Traitor Legions only get a shout out in the pics with a one-sentence blurb beneath their images.

Feels like most factions received some kind of new fluff. The Eldar, the debut of the Ynnari. The T'au, the 5th Expansion. Nothing for Orks. Tyranids, new Hive Fleets, I think. Hydra is new, right? And the new Necron Dynasties.

And one really amusing bit. In the unit lists for the warzones, they have a name and then a description. Like, "Ultramar Auxillia.....9 Regiments" or "Septicus....Greater Daemon".

Whenever Khârn is listed, he is always described as "....Legend."

*gives firm handshake* congratulations sir, you must be very proud

EDIT: Inspiration struck and I wrote an ending for the book about the Siege of Terra:

The Emperor died in that blasted passageway, cut down by his once most favoured son. With him perished his dream of a united humanity, that brief bright torch that he had carried off of Terra into the galaxy. It's light now begins to flicker, growing ever weaker against the encroaching darkness of the universe. There is now no light left to the galaxy, no hope. There is only an endless war.

Indeed I am. ^^

Though I will start with Star Wars (you know, more of a fairytale ;)) WH40K will be definitely on my "what to show him" list. ^^

@Simi:

Sorry, I meant if you think that those Warzones will be treated in the future via separate campaign books.

Overall, I agree with you. RG being everywhere is quite over the top.

Some factions could have received more attention. Only the Black Legion, Thousand Sons and Death Guard are "covered" for the traitor side.

Khârn being legend is legendary. ^^ Well played, GW. :D

Only thing that bothers me is that we nearly know nothing about the Indomitus Crusade and so on.

What happened to the 13th Black Crusade? Did it just stopped in the neighboring systems of Cadia?

What happenend in the 112 year timelap? An attempt of a timeline including some crucial events would be great.

Though these gaps leave us great opportunities of creating our own stuff (stories, chapters, etc.), imho, it could've been a bit more detailed.

Hydra isn't new. Was previously mentioned (at least in the Deathwatch codex). Curious of why Hydra is absorbing other hive fleets. Uber Hive Fleet with supreme organism incoming? :O

I hope so. It's hard to tell since we've never seen rulebook with warzones before.

Sim, aside from Books 1 and 2 I'm not sure the rule for numbers of exemplary battles is that rigid. Do we still want to keep it for ourselves? I wonder if we should go more on the basis of what the Legion in question is and its history. So the Iron Bears don't change much from the Juggernauts, so a single battle is fine. The Void Eagles, meanwhile, change drastically, so at least a couple would be good for them.

Side note: got some stuff to add to Death of the Bear, mostly the aftermath but also detailing attacks on Legio Auris ships in the battle.

I'd actually been thinking about this myself, in terms of history of the Legions. And obviously the canon Legions have the benefit of fans knowing a good bit before hand; including heresy information.

What if we were to do an I:A style book to cover what we don't in the Insurrection books? Give a general jist of the Legions.

It appears to be that rigid for FW. Otherwise, you make a fair point.

Book 3 gives three battles to the Imperial Fists (which is peculiar for a Legion which seems to change so little).

Also, made some progress on the Schism, now I need to write up a few battles.

Maybe it also has to do with how many specialisms a legion has? So in the BotL 'verse the Lions could probably do with only one, two maximum exemplary battles whereas a more diverse legion(tactics wise) such as the Halcyon Wardens would need three
