Syn's Emperors Children

Hey guys, I've been lurking around on here for a while and have finally got around to starting my own log. I've been slowly building an Emperors Children army for a few years now and so far have about 2500 points worth all painted up. So I guess I'll kick things off with some pic's of my HQ's.

And my most recent unit, a Warpsmith.

He was originally meant to be a counts as Fabius Bile, but ever since the Traitor Hate formations were released Warpsmiths became a pretty big deal so I altered the conversion. I like the whole 'evil doctor' look for Warpsmiths, it emphasizes that they're working with Daemon Engins, not just machines. He has since been painted, but I'm playing around with neutral background photos so I'll get some photots of the finished mini when I post up some of the other finished units in the army.

And my current project. A unit of Chaos Space Marines. It just seems a bit weird that I've been collecting a Chaos Space Marines army for years now and still don't have any actual Chaos Space Marines in it (all my troops choices are Noise Marines). So here's some slightly flashy W.I.P. pics.

Really great to see you've got the topic & everything sorted out with the forum Syn's.  Also rememeber your new year goal to get to Warhammer World this year bring your warband with you.

Wait for the rest of this really great Emperor Children warband & future updates.

Syn's have you try out the Traitor Legion yet in any games & any plans for new models?

Thanks for all the responses! I'm flattered that so many of you like what I've got to offer.

Really nice! But dude, you really need to make a conversion of Fabius Bile based of the awesome cover of his new novel.

Thanks, that is some nice art work. Have you read it yet? How is the novel?

Thanks very much IP! In all honesty, I've still not had a single game since the legion rules came out due to work. But I should get my first one next Friday. How are you finding the new Iron Warriors legion rules? I'm a little jealous of some of your artifacts!

Very nice work indeed!

Cheers!

I remember these from Warseer! I don't know if you remember me but I'm glad to see you and your Emperor's Children on B&C!

Indeed I do remember you, I actually followed your log back on Warseer. Edited by SystemSyn

Yes I have, and I fully recommend it! Definitely my favorite book of 2016 (from Black Library)!

Fabius is amazing and all the supporting characters are fantastic and enjoyable.

Nice! It has been a long while and my stuff got a reboot. It got silly but I cannot say much has changed.:tongue.:

What kind of list were you going to run for your next game?

Well my army as it stands just now doesn't allow for too much flexability. It's still pretty small. But I'm loving the Hellforged Warpack formation. And the list will have a heart helping of Noise Marines.

Also, I like the sound of some of the Emperor's Children artifacts. I might have to try a few out in my next game.

Really dig the warpsmith conversion, nice work!

Thanks very much. I'll hopefully have some pic's of the painted model up soon.

Today I got some work done on the Campion for the Chaos Marines.

Nice GS work! What's on the other shoulder pad? I want to guess its the legion emblem.

Also, where is the top knot from? I would like a few for myself.

You'd be absolutely right, the left shoulder pad has the Emperor's Children emblem green stuffed onto it.

The top knot is off one of the Putrid Blightking heads.

Couple things:

I LOVE the black armor with the dark purple edging, and all the beautiful conversions are mind-numbingly awesome.

I dislike that there is now another amazing sculptor/converter that makes me look bad :P

Thanks very much! The purple armour is only on my Warlord, the rest of the army has the usual black and pink color scheme.

The Chaos Marines are assembled and ready for paint.

The problem is, I've run out of black spray paint. So they'll have to waity until pay day. But in the mean time I've got another conversion project to work on. I picked up the limited edition Forgeworld Legion Primus Medicea in Cataphractii Terminator Armour when he was out. At first I wasnt sure what to do with him, just really liked the model. I've decided to convert him into a Chaos Terminator Lord along similar lines as the Warpsmith in my first post, Sort of an evil doctor/ Hellraiser Acolyte type theme.

Sweet! Good to see some more marines ready for an awesome paintjob.

Definitely looking forward to the new soon to be lord. I do not believe I have seen anyone work on that medicae primus mini yet.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait a little longer to see the new Terminator Lord. Insperation struck today so I started working on my next project.

Here's how it's looking after about an hour. I've never done a face this big before, and it's not gone exactly to plan, but it's still very very very W.I.P. so I'm gonna keep working away once the first layer of putty has dried.

So I had my first game with the new Legion rules. I’m loving them! All the Feel No Pain makes all my infantry really tough. The only down side I’ve noticed so far is that I have to take the Mark of Slaanesh on Obliterators, which is a bit of a waste of points. I never used any of the artefacts, and to be honest, I don’t find any of them particularly amazing. Here’s some in-game photos I took.

Looking great SystemSyn.  Take it your against Ed & that a guess he was useing Daemonkin?

Yes the feel no pain been great, starting loss count how many times it has help me with say power weapon vs Nurgle Marines or past three games vs 2x Nids armies with the monster or Necrons with those rending Wraths.

I think the Mark of Slaanesh is definitely worth the 1pt on Obliterators, it makes them Fearless.

Although I don't use Obliterators myself, I've played against Nurgle Oblits plenty of times when they have run off the board or been run down.

And that's one sweet army Brother!

Indeed it was Ed's army. He was using the Word Bearer legion rules, but it didn't really go his way. All those extra roles on the Boon table caused him more bother than benefits. His Warpsmith turned into a Spawn on his first turn!

That's actually a very good point about making Obliterators fearless. It's never really been an issue for me, I usually just run them as single model units. It must be very handy for Mutalators to be fearless.

On that note, I've never used Mutalators before. Are they any good? I've been thinking about building some for a while now so that I can use the Cult of Destruction formation. I'm thinking of having a unit of three Obliterators with the Warpsmith so they can fire six weapons a turn, and running two Mutalators as single model units that I can just throw into combat or use as body guards for Lords/Sorcerers.

Obviously I'm wanting to make the most of the Obliterators, but would the Mutalators be effective by themselves? I usually play 1850 point games, so I'm a bit concerned that one man units may be a bit fragile.

Does anyone has any experience/advice with this sort of thing?

I'm going to lie and say yes, so we get to see what kind of amazing Slaanesh mutilator conversion you can produce :)

Oh, I've already got a few ideas for them!

I let myself be inspired by this army as well ok? it works nicely along WD 291 for inspiration.

Ah yes, John Thompson's army. That's one of my original inspirations too. I still have my original copy of WD 291. I actually revisited it recently when I made the Chaos Marines I started this plog with, I used his idea of gems bursting through the armour on them.

Also, it's funny you should mention that particular issue of White Dwarf because there happens to be another amazing Slaaneshi Chaos Marines army in it. The Castigators! Oddly enough, someone with the username Castigator, and a remarkably similar army to the Castigators can be found just a few posts up! I wonder...
