More cables wouldn't hurt for the mid region. Maybe even do some damaged and leaking?

I wonder if he would look good with the beer gut armor like the plague marines have. No exposed guts or anything but it would take up a lot of space.

The damaged and leaking cables is a nice idea. I was looking at using some of the 'fleshy' looking ones to help tie him in with the new Death Guard stuff. So I might have a play around with that sort of thing.

A belly plate could work, I like the 'tall and skinny' look, but it's worth a try!

Typhus is looking incredible so far man, I'd leave the mid section as is and maybe add a couple of the rotting heads you get with the Nurgle Daemon kits to his belt, it would break up the waist a little bit but not as far as having the exposed guts etc?

Thanks man, I've got some of those very heads waiting to be used to hide some nasty gaps!

That Typhus conversion is looking awesome! It's really great to see more people doing nurgle stuff now, especially when they're going above and beyond with the model like yours. Looking forward to seeing more!

Well thanks very much, I should have a bit more progress to show off tonight of tomorrow.

Got a bit more work on Typhus done, including the beginnings of his Manreaper. I've always loved the look of the circular saw blades set into the main blade of the weapon ever since that Nurgle Lord of Skulls conversion popped up on the internet a while back. Originally I was planning to do the three saw blades in an axe head, but since the 8th edition starter set has a Terminator Lord type model with that already (and I'm loving that particular model!) I've decided to stick with the classic scythe look, but incorporate a circular saw blade somehow.

The arms still need a whole bunch of gap filling and detail work, but that'll have to wait for another evening. In the mean time I'm unsure about how to pose him.

Brilliant work on Typhus! I prefer man reaper facing down as it seems a bit more natural to me. Will you be adding anything to his left hand (like a corpse maybe)? Definitely looking forward to seeing more work done on Typhus!

Thanks very much! I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with the left hand yet. I just stuck a spare hand on for the time being so I could play with his pose. But I'm actually quite liking the empty hand now. So I might keep it.

Typhus is looking sweet!

For some reason I like the manreaper up. Plus if you use him in games there is less chance of him snagging something.

Thanks, glad you like him. That is a very good point about the Manreaper that I hadn't actually considered! You've given me something else to think about!

Wow! I knew this was going to be good but the addition of the Blight King bits and that Manreaper have just ramped this up to awesome. That scythe is perfect.

On its position I do prefer it lower but it would make sense gameplay wise if it was more upright.

Would there be any way of having it held two handed a bit like the original model? Only problem with that would be it covering the really neat conversion work on his torso though.

I had a scythe-wielding termie chaplain who has since been rearmed. He did have a pose with the scythe forward and outstretched. And he would be damned if he was going to be only mini removed from the table when his time had come. It was like that barrel of monkey toy with that guy sometimes.

Looking good, I think that down is better too - you're likely to snag him on things regardless

I am leaning towards the 'Manreaper down' pose, it feels a bit more natural. And now that you don't need to be in base contact in 8th edition snagging shouldn't as much of an issue.

Now thats a terminator!

Glad you approve!

Well thanks very much!

I did try playing around with having the Manreaper held two handed, mostly to try and cover up is waist area so that I didn't have to do too much with it. But, because he's so chunky, I couldn't get it to look right. It kept looking like he was trying to hand the Manreaper to someone else!

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the Indomitus, but otherwise it's fantastic!

Cheers buddy!

I know exactly how that feels! In my last game (against my friend who uses Tyranids) I was up against a Toxicrine. I've never seen a more awkward model, it was impossible to get it around terrain and other models, and when it got into combat it got stuck on absolutely everything!

I've been playing around with head options for Typhus, and I think I've narrowed it down to two choices.

Option one. The really plain, smooth face plate look that GW are using for a lot of Nurgle stuff now.

Option two. Inspired by BioHazard's awesome Typhus conversion, I also wanted to try out the faceless hooded look.

I quite like the faceless hood :tu:

I like the manreaper 'up'. I see it as he's waving on his pox-riddled horde with it.

If you instead go with it 'down' then I'd suggest having the left hand up, either pointing forwards at the enemy or if you could model some form of pests/disease/psychic effect coming from it...?

To begin with I was planning to go with the face plate, but I'm quite liking the hooded head now too. I've not really thought the left hand through yet, but after blu-tacking the whole thingf together, I'm tempted to keep the 'at rest' pose.

I think both heads work, but the second seems to have a bit more character?

I quite agree :)

I had my last game of 7th edition last night, so I though I'd get some pics while I was at it. The lighting at my local club isn't great, but here's what I got.

I'm still wanting to use the Forge World Plague Marine conversion kit I have, but I want them to tie in with the new Plague Marines, so I got some Mk3 armour and have started dremeling the crap out of it.

And, like so many of you, I picked up this taday.

I've been playing around with the contents of Dark Imperium, and so far I've got a test Plague Marine painted up. It took a while to figure out the colour scheme but I'm pretty happy with how it shaped up. I fell in love with the Death Guard way back in 2003 when Codex Eye of Terror first came out. Since then I've had more Death Guard armies than I can remember. The problem was always that I couldn't quite figure out the right colour scheme, so I always got fed up and gave up on them. But I think I've cracked it this time! When I think of the Death Guard, I think of Ryan Powells Death Guard army. I always wanted to come up with a colour scheme similar to his one, and I think I've finally come up with a colour scheme that works pretty well for what I have in mind. So here's what I've come up with.

One thing I've found with this model is that paint doesn't sit too well on a white undercoat, it keeps rubbing off. So I still need to give this guy a coat of purity seal. The thing is, I've only ever used it the once, and it clouded up really badly. So I'm a bit wary about using it. If anybody has any advice on how to get a clear coat it would be much appreciated.

Here's how the rest of the unit is looking. No real conversions which is a bit odd for me, they don't need though, these models are really nice.

I also finally got the last two Noise Marines Painted up. Honestly I'm not too happy with the one on the right, the head just doesn't look right to me. I might change it later on but these Plague Marines need some attention for now.

Glad to see your thread moved to the WIP section. The DG looks great and the new models are awesome, but I remain still a huge fan of your Emperor's Children, such a characterful army!

Thanks very much! My Emperor's Children are still very much my main focus, I just couldn't resist the temptation of the new 8th edition starter set. But I've got a local tournament coming up in August that I'll be using my Children in, and that's always good motivation to get a new unit done. I'm just not entirely sure what I want to do!

Hopeful we will get a re-match again or if not - Winter War?

Also what web do you use for store your photos?  Just photobucket recently changes to terms had a impact on a lot of people :(

I'd definitely love a rematch with you IP! Hopefully we can get one arranged for Firestorm, but if not then definitely Winter War.

I used to use Photobucket, but got quite annoyed with it a few months back. Since then I've been using a similar site called Imgur. It took me a bit of getting used to, but it's been really good once I figured out what I was doing. If you want a hand with it if be happy to help.

Oh dear. Look like photo bucket got me too! Luckily I had already started using a different site quite early into this log so it'll be easy enough to get the pictures back up. Hopefully I'll have that done over the next few days.

On a more hobby worthy topic, I'm finally starting to lean towards 32mm bases. So I'm putting to the vote! What would be better, leaving all my Noise Marines on 25mm bases, or putting them on 32mm's?

Bummer about photobucket. They've affected a great many people recently here, so I don't doubt they've lost at least some business from the Fraters thanks to their recent policy enforcement.

Meh, if they're already on them, and the majority of your planned force is on them, I'd leave them as is. Make the next army project a 32mm one.

Yup, photobucket seem to have really upset a whole lot of people recently, I'm just glad I moved on from it before all this recent hassle kicked off.

I've decided on my next project for the Emperors Children. I've always liked the idea of a squad specifically trained and equipped for tank hunting, so I've begun work on a squad of Chosen. They're going to all be armed with melta guns, and the Champ will have a combi-melta and power fist. Here's how they're looking so far. Well, here’s how some of their legs are looking so far.

http://i.imgur.com/0XnHhSZ.jpg

On the Chosen datasheet, it says that up to 4 Chosen can have a weapon from the special weapons list, and an additional Chosen can have a weapon from the special weapons list or the heavy weapons list. I've taken this to mean that I can have 5 Chosen armed with melta guns, but I'm not entirely sure that's right. Can anyone confirm whether its 4 or 5 Chosen that can have melta guns?

I've also got plans for another project but it's going to need quite a few bits, so it'll have to wait until after pay day.
