DIY BA Successor

Striking from no where giving no quarter this cursed founding chapter using the previously known strain of the blood angel gene seed strikes out of the darkness.

Embracing fully the gifts from their primarch of their vampiric nature. Prec
ision violence and cold savagery coupled with their curse of vampirism has led to many accounts of blood rituals.

The almost albino colouring of unmasked or un-helmeted marines looking like the nightlords of old. However this is more due to sunlight causing intense pain to the marines eyes. This also has another effect of improving marines eyesight during the darkest of hours.

Entirely fleet based all ships in the fleet have very minimal light at all times

Still stuck on the name though ...

I have changed my mind about them being based in a space hulk instead being specialized in clearing them out. They are fleet based chapter.

Any C&C is welcome, any name suggestions are more than welcome.

They will be dark blue with silver accents.

Hello! For an idea on a color scheme that is easy to paint have you considered a black primary color as it covers very well and if you can highlight it right it will look great. Good luck with your chapter I'd love to help but I don;t know much about the BA.

Black is really tempting tbh but I was planning doing my Death Company black too ... :/ I guess I could palate swap do my Death company red with the main color being black ....

Regarding the Founding: Only the High Lords of Terra can authorize the Founding of a new Space Marine Chapter, and it's extremely unusual for Space Marines themselves to ask that a new Chapter be founded. (I'm citing 'Codex: Dark Angels' regarding a Chapter founded specifically to Cypher.) What deals did the Blood Angels make to convince the High Lords to support the Founding?

Regarding the colors: Why are the Marines' left arms painted white? What does that symbolize?

I think the high lords might be interested in a cure for the black rage/ red thirst and as such the chapter was created to seek out the Lamenters.

I'm not sure about the white arm as of yet, I was thinking of having it linked to the marines using blood letting from their left arm.

I've been thinking over the fluff, here's what I've got so far.

The chapter was recently created in an effort to cure the flaws of the BA geneseed. Rumour has it the seed was spliced with that of another legion but it appears to be only rumour for the moment.

The chapter is very young and as such they haven't developped their own chapter badge as of yet, and some of the Veterans served in the BA & their successors.

The chapter has been working on clearing out a Space Hulk that an illfated team of Lamenters Terminators took on. They have yet to retrieve anything from the hulk in regards to the Lamenters. They have cleared out a decent amount of it though and are currently using it as their base of operations. Recruits are often sent into infested parts of the hulk as their initiation.

They recruit from a variety of worlds, the selection seems quite random, it is the high librarian who dictates where the next batch of recruits comes from, as if he "saw" something.

Following their work into cleansing the hulk the chapter has grown to love cqc weapons, meltas, flamers, inferno pistols, shotguns (very popular) & melee weapons. They seem to have few tanks : 1 land raider per company. 1 or 2 BAAL predators per company, 1 or 2 rhinos. They use stormravens and flyers very often and deploy with droppods.

It seems like they have 0 bikes.

They seem to have a different organisation to other BA successors. The 1st company is made up of sanguinary guard, clad in silver armor.

The other companies are set up as following :

1 captain, 1 chaplain, 1 sanguiary priest, 1 techmarine & librarian.

20 terminators (10 shooty, 10 assault)

20 Veterans (10 Vanguard, 10 sternguard)

10 Assault Marines

50 Marines

10-15 initiates.

Their is a grand total of 5 companies. Each controls a different sector of the hulk.

They seem to handle responsability of the search for cure very well, they seem very optimistic. As of yet they have had little success and do have a death company at regular numbers for a BA successor.

Space Hulks are known to enter and exit the Warp at unpredictable intervals, and to follow their own path through that realm. If your Chapter intends to use it as a base-of-operations, it needs some way of controlling when and where the Hulk enters and exits the Warp.

Hm this makes it quite interesting actually,  I guess librarians could do that? Or is that not fluffy?

I presume you need the AdMech to help stabilize a Space Hulk- which will probably involve stripping the entire Hulk of malfunctioning Warp engines from the ships that make up the Hulk- OR a Chaos sorcerer to enact a ritual. The latter is obviously UNACCEPTABLE to a loyal son of Sanguinius.

That sounds pretty good !)

I was thinking of the other "half" of the geneseed being of nightlords origin ... Don't know if that is fluff friendly at all though ...

All the geneseed from traitor legions has been destroyed and everyone who say something different is an heretic.

Alrighty then. Guess I'll have to do something unoriginal then. msn-wink.gif

Thanks for the input.

What about half Raven Guard they fight in the most similar fashion to the Night Lords your Marines however would probably have very pale skin.

That could suit, I do like Raven Guard a lot, I was kind of torn between the 2 to be honest ...

"Chimeric" gene-seed is almost never used in the Imperium- there is almost no reason to use it, as the Imperium has far greater resources than the Traitors. The few exceptions- Relictors, per-Badab War Astral Claws- turned renegade and Traitor.

In fluff, different Primarchs' gene-seed require different techniques for handling and implantation- the Space Wolves require recruits to drink something with a "Canis Helix," without which other organs can't be implanted AT ALL- so it's not practical for the Imperium to mix gene-seed sources. (Chaos Space Marines use Chimeric gene-seed due to desperation, or to insanity- see Fabius Bile.)
