i had a bit of a slow down because... overwatch. but i'm back omn track

i magnetized and started working on his backpack. I think i'll use a few daemon engine bits here for the exhausts. I also started to make his segmented shoulderpad (that heresy style shoulderpad) and wanted to make it reeeeaaaally rusty, the kind that's falling off his shoulders rusty. I wanted to put these 3 ball thingies that nurgle has on their armour (i'm not sure if its functional or just ornamental) and wanted to make it so rotten that its falling off his shoulders

This is an awesome thread with some great conversions/scratch builds. Excellent work, the Daemon Prince is looking all kinds of special already, looking forward to it being done. At the moment it reminds me of a couple of demons from the Darksiders games and that's always a good thing :tu:

aaand a slight update. somethign different - some paint! its just basecolours only, but its a start. rusted metals, the base green, and the bone protusions.... later i'll add propper depth, this is about 25% done so far on the marines.  will get shade, highlight, edging, weathering, chipping, pigment, running rust marks.... 

 

Ugh the cultists are gonna be a chore  just got some khemri brown based and haven't decided the colour scheme for the  cannon fodder yet. maybe browns and beiges with a green accent piece

hi guys, once again showing my lack of focus, i've switched back to finishing my warpsmith.... who i'm worried about  his game value cuz i only built him for the cult of destruction and in a month we won't have formations :P woopsy. i'll try to field him in 7th 1 time at least before formations disappear

 

So anyhow, here is the new warpsmith , AKA "double 3 oblits firepower guy"

Slight update:
i added meaty parts on the oblits (just the base colours - next will be blending on the green armour

and i erased a banner that was just a decal and made a poop beholder banner. Still need eyeballs on the secondary eyes and will blend the brown better and add a green glaze for contrast

Wow those conversions are amazing. My only hint is to get yourself a couple of daylight bulbs and cheap desk lamps, not only are they great to paint under in the evening but will help make the photos a lot clearer.

@mechanist: thank you sir. And you are totally right. actually i own a photobooth foldio, but i'm too lazy to set it up for WIP pics, but for fancy finished pictures, i'll definately bring it up! 

 

So, here we go, i'll call this bad boy finished! (still lazy too set up the booth, final pictures later)
did weathering pigments, chipping with edges and all (that disappear in the deatils), some more washes, and added some veins to the nasty living cape
I'm quite pleased with the first mini i fully painted for this army , i quite like the vibrant orange contrasting to the greens. next guy maybe i'll highlight the green with cammo green instead of gretchin green so its more vibrant yellowy. i just can't stand those lime greens on nurgle, it looks the opposite of rotten and decaying. funbky greens on nurgle are only for radioactive stuff

So, i continued the obliterators! i'm done with the green, next i'll do the fleshy parts and weathering. standard isn't so high as my lord/sorceror, but i'll save the effort cuz the weathering will hide any mistake later :D

Hey guys, seems like the new 40k is up and we got to take a good look at the new shiny stuff! mmm goodies! but then , amid the great rule changes i realized they had neutered the obliterators into some throwback of the bad old rules, the random crap that made posessed unusable and the spawn just relegated to bullet sponge for a lord. That totally killed my nurgle buzz..... And i started playing and making some HQs for my orks, so the past month i barely touched my deathguard cuz they messed up oblits just as i was finishing painting them (grumble grumble)

 

Well, after a bit of a hiatus, i am back to painting cuz there is a farewell 7th edition tournament i am attending in july, so i have to finish because. Sigh....
at least i get to play with oblits that choose their weapons once before the clock turns

 

So here we go, my converted and fancy cultists nurgle damn, these models are so annoying to paint, what a hassle 20 Tabletop quality cultists, i will matte varnish them now that i am done, the shinyness will disapear later

Well, not much done but i got started on the warpsmith. just the metallics and some base colours.

This guy won't be as mutated and freaky as the other oblits he will be hanging out with - he is a warpsmith after all, he has to take care of his gear i mean, rust and chipping is fine, but having a tentacle pop out of his control panel would be a bit nasty haha. 

i think i'll only blend everything with rust and weathering.

Photobucket went to the trash and all pics are lost to the warp. but thanks to some help from fellow community members i got my stuff back on track (thanks @vairocanum @Aasfresser )

 

The last month or so i was preparing for a tournament here in Brazil following ITC rules for 7th edition and we bade our farewell to the previous edition. I repainted my list (cuz it was painted by my friend who sold me the army and i wanted to compete in the painting category) and got my boys up to some nice standards, but didn't completely finish painting it (some details and freehands i wanted to do). 

I flew to western brasil and with many players from many brazilian states, we had a nice tournament with some fancy armies all around. I had a blast! i kinda avoided tournaments in the past cuz i'm not a competitive type but i ended up enjoying myself a lot. Especially because we had 60litres of microbrewery tap beer on hand (wich led to much fun but many tactical mistakes! haha but totally worth it!)

managed to get 4th best general out of 14 , got 3rd best painted army and snagged the trophy for best conversion with my daemon prince. 

 

i'm just disappointed with the prince on the tabletop cuz basically everybody either ran away from him all game (its funny to see 8 crisis suits scattering from behind a building when Rotwing showed his ugly face) or in 2 ocasions he got taken out like a bitch. oh well, at least he did his job and people were terrified of the 2+ jinking psyker prince with a black mace.

 

So, basically i wasn't absent - i just couldn't post for  a while, now that it seems to be sorted i present my daemon prince Rotwing the Pestilencer

i haven't finished the paintjob, just got him up to tabletop standards for the tournament but now i'm ready to move on with the army. With 8th edition and the hype from the tournament my orks and nurgle will get plenty of attention

Really liking the dp! He looks terribly brilliant. The gs work is awesome, really good detail in which you can see muscle fibers through patches Where the skin has rotted away. Look forward to seeing it painted!

 

Ps I think the dp might have more luck in the 8th ed :)
