Thought you'd say that to be honest, the bat helm was my first thought too. As I've mentioned before, not all iron halos are the same (Dante has a "tiara" after all) so who's to say an Angel's Encarmine one wouldn't be any different?

I, Tyriks, rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kit bash another stock DC chaplain, Gabriel Seth (out of competition) and a Captain with a Relic Blade (might try to green stuff it into a Valour's Edge if I feel bold tomorrow), Storm Shield and Jump Pack, on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the Storm Blades, whilst failure is not an option...

Since posting images in the initial 'event advertising' thread I haven't done a whole lot: filed treads into his soles to remove the BA icons there, and smoothed the right shoulder pad flat -essentially making it a Mk.6 pad- for freehand decoration.

Wings are mounted like that on the backpack, cause when i glued them like on the original model, the were looking very odd so i switched tchem around

Mask: Greenstuff with small torchlight from space marine helmets

Torso: Sanguinary Guard

Legs: Saguinary Guard

Arms: Sternguard Veteran

Master crafted combi-melta/Blood Song: Sternguard veteran

Scope: BA Tactical marine

Probably going to paint him up next even though this even does not call for it because it would be easier to paint part by part.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do in regards his Dead Man's Hand (Gauntlet with digital weapons)?

As you've undercoated it and plan on painting it before it gets put together, it will be classed as an out of competition entry. Don't let that put you off though, the model itself looks great and we still want to see it done

Arms/Eviscerator from the ASM set

 

Torso undecided current options. Sanguinary Guard toros, Blood Angel upgrade kit torso, or alternate third option

 

Legs from the Vanguard Veteran Kit option, one with the left knee raised to represent lunging.

Shoulders currently undecided. Options include Sanguinary Guard grail shoulders, Angel with robes, feathered wing motif, also Carmine Blade 3rd party shoulder, as well as Blood Angels upgrade shoulder to represent relic armor from the HH.

 

Thoughts?

Thanks, but I have $0 hobby budget for a while. I'd have to chop up my clampack Sanguinary Priest to get his, which I'm not really keen on!

Tyriks, just brainstorming here, but the old fashioned way to do it involved cutting down a chainsword. From there you need something to act as a needle/siphon, some wire for piping and maybe a melta bomb (no handle) attached to the backpack. Finish off with some green stuff.

Tyriks, I too would recommend scratchbuilding a narthesium. A cut down chainsword as already mentioned. Perhaps the screen of an auspex mounted on the forearm too. You can use a cut down needle/pin for the spike. One slip and you may end up christening it with your own claret ;)

 

Jolemai, I'll be doing pink as the main colour of my raptor lord (which would mean the trim in the case of most parts), with the inset plates of the left side blue. The 'muscle' bits.....likely lilac. Probably an orange Mohawk like my recent Chaos scouts, and tattoos on his bare scalp. As for the colour of the blade...I really can't decide! Any suggestions? I'm tempted to go with something very different, like black or white...or one side one colour and the other side another colour.

 

As soon as the weather warms up a bit I have a lot of undercoating to do!

Great use of bits and I'm rather envious of those GS blood drops! Any advice? Also, can I tempt you to do a Flesh Eater? Loads and loads of time left...

Thanks Jolemai :tu: the greenstuff blood drops take a bit of practice, but u am rubbish with GS so if can, anybody can. I just lump it on there, slightly bigger than I need and flat it off. I then make four cuts to it, two longer ones at the top, two shorter at the bottom so you end up with a diamond shape but upside down, I then just round off the corners :)

 

The one in his knee was a spare one off the back pack I cut the chalice off (the one on his jump pack), flatted off and stuck over his knee. I then just filled the gaps.

 

Oh btw this guy is a Blood Angel not a Flesh Eater this time :tu:

 

I have also cut off the bolt pistol handle and the barrel from his holster, as Zeller rightly pointed out that we can't have the bolt pistol AND the plasma pistol on a Chaplain. I can update pictures if required :)

Definitely put the axe pointing to the outside, as if in a palms upturned position. The way it is now looks odd and blocks the detail.
