57th Goru Fen Riders ' Moss Raiders' - Armoured Cavalry

So hello everyone, starting on my second IG army. Considering the improvement to my painting, I am excited to see what I can do.

The 57th Goru Fen Riders 'Moss Raiders' is a composite armoured cavalry regiment formed from the remnants of the 39th Drookian Fen Guard and the 112th Savlar Chem Riders after the ill fated campaign in the chloride-swamps of Goru.

I have no intention of fielding infantry, a good friend is working on my cavalry so I can cast them up myself and save a) a tonne of time cool.png a tonne of money

So I started working on my

2nd Armoured Company and 3 tanks from my 4th Tank Killer Company.

The picture below is all Ragnarok tanks (3 Battle Tanks, 3 Exterminators, 3 Eradicators, and 3 Vanquishers)

*The Vanquishers are in the 4th company, the 2nd company command tank is going to be a pretty special conversion

There is still a tonne to do. Quick list
Track Guards
Side Skirts (My conversion will need riveting)
Zimmerit(ing)
Barbed wire and chicken wire covers
Tank crew/Tank Riders (Ok I am sneaking in Infantry)

That's a lot of tanks! :D

No other way. I had a lot left over from my previous guard army. What is not seen is my 3 Demolishers, 3 Thunderers, and 3 Destroyer Tank Hunters. The first two I have plans to convert with Atlas Recovery Tank parts to creat a Siege Tank company

Well, would you look at that - a metric crap-ton of tanks. All looking like KV-2's, too. You're my kinda guy. :tu:

Well then you will appreciate what I have lined up

2nd Armoured company

1 Malcaruss Commissar command tank

1 Atlas Recovery Vehicle

3 Exterminators/Punishers

3 Battle Tanks

3 Eradicators

3rd Armoured Siege company

1 Malcador Annihalator Command tank

1 Bridging Vehicle

3 Thunderers

2 Hellhounds

1 Malcador Infernus

3 Demolishers

*Thunderers and Demolishers are being converted and amalgamated with the Atlas recovery vehicle kit.

*Infernus is squadron leader of the Hellhounds

4th Tank Destroyer Company

1 Valdor Tank Hunter Command tank

1 Centaur Spotting Vehicle

3 Vanquishers

3 Destroyer Tank Hunters

3 Devil Dogs

Ah i see, I thought those were storm bolters initially. Neat profile on the Ragnaroks, almost a Panzer meets KV-1 look.

Most of the other tanks dont need the sponsons, I do really like plasmas on my Eradicators though. Just to tackle +2 saves, you could alternatively do a Demolisher variant, the short large bore cannon on a big turret like that would look intimidating as a side bonus.

+++Edit - Disregard just saw thats your intent per above. Thumbs up, gotta post a battlefield pic when theyre painted up.

My Demolishers are not going to be Ragnaroks unfortunately.Forgeworld Death Korp Demolishers in fact so that the engines align with the Atlas recovery vehicles

Here is my army list for those interested http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330006-1850pt-cavalry-list/

Means very little in the scale of things as I start to work through the companies of a regiment (Based upon what I have been able to find on the internet, as well as Imperial Armour books, and some common sense)

The reason for the double post

I need help, or how can I make a 40k Imperial Guard looking Galloper Gun

I will have some Wip of the cavalry conversions soon, that will prob help figuring out how to make 40k versions of ^

For galloper guns i would suggest getting some scale wheels (theres plenty of places online that have them) and some plasticard. Or maybe the WFB Empire guns(volley-something maybe) with the wheels swapped for modern ones. Or some grot guns converted to look less orky. Pick one of those and attach it to a horse. :)

Drookian Fen Guards always seem to have bare heads with respirators covering their nose/mouth. Seeing as the horses have respirators, it would seem rash for the riders not to.

With that in mind, how about something like these?:

Or for something a little more all-enclosing, these?:
