Lucius / Legio Astorum Mechanicum army colour scheme?

Recommended Posts

So I've bought a copy of Taghmata and some Thralls so I guess I'm doing a 30k Mechanicum army next.

The idea is to make them the Mechanicum support of the Legio Astorum Knight Army and Titans I have been building.

Am I right in thinking Lucius is still Mars aligned and would technically wear red in honour of mars / machine god etc? (I've missed about 15years of fluff since 2nd Ed).

I thought red might jar against the blue / yellow Astorum colours and really wanted to use some blues in the robes and uniforms etc. I used Humbrol acrylic No.96 RAF uniform blue for my Titan Moderati (in a nod to the Bomber command and also used cockpit green for the Titan interior) and would like to carry that theme to on to my Mechanicum army.

Would blue robes and uniforms be completely against what's covenant?

I'm not sure how I would paint the armour panels on also the mechanical units as I don't think Ithat the Knight and Titan Blue yellow scheme would transfer. However I was also thinking of maybe trying to use some of the green I used for the Titan interior some where on the mech units (maybe on underside of panels, inner parts) to continue the theme and tie it all together?

There's photos of the Knights / Titan colour scheme further down in this thread:

Clarification on what is accept law and advice on what might work appreciated.

Cheers

While it's 40k - I think it's still applicable:

Generally that's the sort of scheme they wear. Notably more beige than mars (which you green could probably substitute for?)

The Lucius Mechanicum =/= The Legio Astorum. They're connected on all accounts but have their own semi-autonomy as organisations.

NOW - if you were to paint up some Secutarii (Titan Guard) they'd be in the blue of the Legio for sure.

As a lucius player myself I say go for it. The legio Astorum is a well known legio that has been around since the heresy, so it stands to reason that they would have a lot of skitarii for support.

If you really wanna be nitpicky then the colors for lucius in the heresy it used to be that cream color and black metal, and it was only after a schism that they changed to mars like colors to show their loyalty. Personally I use a darker shade of red, more of a khorne red than mephiston. For armor I use eshen gray over black primer as it makes it a little less bland, and soon I will put a wash over that to make it a little more textured. Use blue for some titan guards instead of the red if you want, but I wouldn't suggest you do all of them so you could keep the forces separate.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've thought about it some more and I'm going to build a 30k Mechanicus predominantly Cybernetica army. Because who doesn't like big robots.

I'm going to keep the colour scheme fairly muted so they don't look too gaudy. I'm going to use progressively darker shades of grey for troops, fast atttack (flying fast attack will use the aforementioned pale RAF green colour used on the Titan), elites and heavy support using the blue/yellow as a detail/excentuating colour with more blue/yellow/stripes etc the bigger and more knight/Titan sized the model to fit in with the Legio Astorum knights and Warhound I have built.

Also I've ordered some models to actually paint!
