Supreme Grand Master Azrael has called for a Gathering of Angels at the Rock. Representatives from each of the various successor chapters are requested and with them is a brief data summary of their chapter’s history and past glories to be added to the vast data banks of the Unforgiven.

INTRODUCTION:

The Brotherhood of Angels (BotA) started as a Dark Angels Forum Event aimed at participants creating unique DIY chapter histories. In other words, you enter the event by submitting a written description of a chapter that you have created. This has grown in popularity to encompass a major section of the Bolter & Chainsword Community and to be included in the Liberalia Martiale!

HOW TO ENTER:

1. Make an oath in this thread in the following manner:

2. Write a completely new Index Astartes Article, based on the structure below, on the Chapter/Unit/Warband/Order you have created (or update a submission from a previous competition). WIP threads are encouraged along with spell-check and grammar checking in Word or Pages.

3. Submit it before the conclusion date of Midnight on May 31, 2017. The completed IA must be posted in full in this thread. Links will NOT be considered complete.

ENTRY CRITERIA:

1. The article should have a minimum of 2000 words. The use of a Word Processor like Word or Pages is highly encouraged to help with spelling and grammar.

2. It should include the livery of your chapter/unit/warband/order using the appropriate Painter. A sketch or image of the Chapter/Regiment/Order/Warband Badge is also strongly encouraged.

3. The submission should be of your own creation. Past works that were incomplete can be finished.

STRUCTURE OF THE ARTICLE:

The article should include the following sections, most of which are self-explanatory.

CHAPTER NAME

SUMMARY

▪ GENE-SEED (PREDECESSOR): First Founding or a Successor (can be another DIY Unforgiven Chapter)

▪ FOUNDING: 3rd through 26th or Unknown

▪ CHAPTER MASTER: Current Leader of the Chapter

▪ CHAPTER WORLD: If not Fleet based.

▪ FORTRESS MONASTERY: OPTIONAL - Is the Fortress known by any special name

▪ FLAGSHIP: If Fleet based

▪ MAIN COLOURS: What are the colors of the Chapter?

▪ SPECIALITY: OPTIONAL - Do they excel in a certain type of combat?

▪ BATTLE CRY:

▪ CURRENT STRENGTH: Typically, it will be 1000 Battle Brothers unless they have suffered losses in a recent campaign.

▪ KNOWN DESCENDANTS: Are they mentors or a predecessor to another chapter?

▪ ALLEGIANCE: OPTIONAL - Primarily used if they have turned from the Lion or the Emperor.

ORIGIN OF THE CHAPTER:

What made that Chapter come into being; Are they a Successor of a Successor? If there is a reason the Chapter Colors were chosen, it may be included in this section.

CHAPTER HOME WORLD/FLEET:

Description of the home world or fleet that the chapter considers to be home.

PRESENT ACTIVITIES:

Narrative about the Chapter at the dawn of the 41st Millennium

COMBAT DOCTRINE:

How do they fight? Special Formations (Like the Deathwing and Ravenwing)? Armor Heavy? Air Assault? Night Fighters? Intolerances on Aversions?

Description

Short descriptions of famous battles and outcomes in chapter history. Try to provide at least three different battles.

CHAPTER ORGANIZATION:

Are they Codex Adherent? If they are not Codex Adherent, do they have any special organizations? Are the Reserve Companies organized like Battle Companies? What about the Specialists? This section will probably contain the SM Painter images of the different armor paint schemes of the various companies and specialists.

Description of the chapter’s fleet strength and vessel names.

BELIEFS:

Unique beliefs and practices.

I, Brother Arkley Lothar, Grand Cross of the Blades of Alaric, in the name of THE LION, make this oath of moment to submit a complete history of my Grand Preceptor Brun Vosberg.

CHARACTER NAME :- BRUN VOSBERG 

AGE :- 187

 

SUMMARY

▪ PLANET OF ORIGIN: Mannheim

▪ BASE OF OPERATIONS: Mannheim - Leviathan (Chapter Fortress Monastery)

▪ ORGANISATION:  Blades of Alaric Master Chaplain - Grand Preceptor/Master of Traditions

▪ MAIN COLOURS:- Black Armour, Pale Bone Robes

▪ SPECIALITY:- All round Combatant, Great Orator

ORIGIN OF THE CHARACTER:

 

Brun was born in Sandhofen the northern most continent of Mannheim, at the age of 11 his parents were casualties in the natural disaster that hit Sandhofen, The Blades of Alaric sent a force led by Techmarine Markus included his future Master Kolman to help with the recovery effort. Sandhofen is of great importance as the mountainous region is good for Scout Survival Training.

 

As is common in Sandhofen the people are stubborn traditionalists even before the Volcano, so as much as he mourned his parents he was taught to survive. Helping with the rescue effort instilled the willingness to help others maybe he would have become a leader of his people this was not to be as Kolman seen something in the young boy. Upon the return to the Leviathan Kolman took the young orphan with him.

 

BASE OF OPERATIONS:

 

The Chapters Reclusiam is located on the Ocean going Fortress Monastery known as the Leviathan. The Reclusiam also have small keeps in Sandhofen and the solitary moon of Alban. Before his promotion he would be active in all battle theatres the 4th Company would be at.

 

PRESENT ACTIVITIES:

 

The Rock to handover of 5 fallen. 2 repented 3 dead. (Second Black pearl earned)

Since his promotion he has thrown himself into help training the new recruits with Knight Commanders Keller and Carsten.

Took command of the Hunt for Kolman

 

 

COMBAT DOCTRINE: 

 

Brun is as stalwart as he is stubborn, his speeches inspire his brothers, when he was a Sergeant in the Bladesworn he was the bulwark of his squad, always led from the front his Storm Shield weathering blows as his squad would pick of targets. Any that dares to close would feel his sword.

 

His approach to battle has not changed much he will lead from the front, even when Lothar is leading most of the Chapter, Brun can be seen in the vanguard with the Ashen Brothers Terminators.

835.M41 First Recon

 

Brun as a member of Scout Squad Alfher, were tasked tracking a Ork warband, after 17 days of tracking the Orks orders were given by Knight Commander Johan with a single shot the warband was thrown into disarray as Brun shot the Ork Nob in command. Teleport homers were placed nearby to summon the Ashen Brothers. 

 

Kolman remarked his choice that Brun was marked for greatness.

 

982.M41 Massacre on Geath Prime - Command Position Chaplain of the 4th Company.

 

Considered the darkest day in the long history of the Chapter. Grand Cross Lothar answered the pleas of a local Imperial World under attack by sending the 4th, 6th and elements of the 1st. A Chaos Battlegroup under command of a Sorcerer Lord simply known as The Occulus. One hundred and sixty two marines died in one night sacrificed to the warp. Twenty seven Brothers of the 6th spat on their oaths including Grand Preceptor Kolman overall Commander of the force. The thirty one survivors have sworn bloody vengeance on the traitors.

 

992.M41 Vengeance for Geath - Command Position Leader of the Blades of Alaric forces.

 

10 years after his petition to Lothar, Brun was finally given the chance to seek vengeance on Kolman, he killed his former friend and Mentor. It is noted he yelled “You spat on your oaths Brother, I am your Judgement” as he took the head of Kolman. 

 

After the return to Mannheim Brun exiled himself for over 6 months of meditation and penance for the unnatural rage he felt, his normal calm was broken during the fight. 

 

 

REGIMENT ORGANISATION:

 

Since becoming the Grand Preceptor, Brun has taken to this position with the same ethic he has applied to his life as an Adeptus Astartes, always room to improve, not just physical but mental fortitude. He works closely with all members of the Chapters future mainly the Scout Company he has also been known to spend time with the Reserve Companies, lighting a fire under these heroes in waiting. His speeches are listened to with intent. Brun Vosberg leads by example, a true Mannheim Hero.

 

BELIEFS:

 

Unlike most of Mannheim Brun would be considered as believer in the Emperor being a God, but it is of note this does not define him. His parents were deeply spiritual and it was natural for their son to be of similar disposition, being a Chaplain and caring for his fellow Brothers spiritual and mental well being is something that comes as second nature. Always willing to help his Brothers or citizens of Mannheim, he is well thought of by all. 

 

RECRUITMENT:

 

Brun is a great reader of his Brothers, it has been noted the Reclusium has become more active in the last 10 years as more brothers have become Initiates to the ways of being a Chaplain. Normally there are 2 or 3 but 17 have been recruited in the last decade.

 

PERSONAL RITUALS:

 

As a Master of Traditions, various rituals are carried out, Brun will make sure each is carried out to the letter. He does carry a small aquila made of bone a memento of his parents.

Most Command Staff of the Chapter do not have a personal banner. Brun is no exception.
