Stormcast scale

Recommended Posts

Greetings, mod bros.

So, the new stormcast dudes on their chicken lizard mounts gave me a (potentially) brilliant idea.

I don't like bikes. So, here I see an option for a totally sexy Black Templar marshal and command squad on "bikes". Sure it's a little big, but I guess I don't care.

So, the concern is the scale. The stormcast legs will be critical for this and if they don't mean well with marine scale torsos, then I may be dead in the water. Any thoughts from people who've worked with the AoS models?

The Stormcast legs will appear very large in comparison with power armour – as Major_Gilbear says, they're closer in size to Custodes/Terminator size. I think the conversion will require more work than a simple kitbash. That's not to say it won't work – perhaps using Terminator torso fronts married to power armour backs, or adding a waist spacer, would help?

You could see if Thunderwolf Cavalry legs would fit.

That's a pretty good idea actually!

Failing that, you can chop up and re-glue some legs to get a good pose.

If you trim some plastic Mk6 legs (no knees, fewer joints, so less work!), put a pin in each joint, and then bend them to suit, you should get a pretty good start. After that, fill in the gaps in the joints with some putty to match the original legs' ribbed joints, and done. Although it is somewhat involved, it is a very easy and forgiving conversion to do (even if you are not very confident with GS).

not 100% on this as been a few years since i modelled any TWC, but from what i remember the legs on them were not great/didnt fit the mount properly anyway, so possibly better off just chopping up some PA legs

Black Templars on chocobos, otherwise known as Chocobos of Doom? Tell me more, and do you have a newsletter?

I know, right?  This could be awesome!  It could also be a colossally expensive waste of time and plastic.  I approach with caution.

I've found this wonderfull conversion around our forum. The mount may be different, but the legs should be more or less the same.

Yeah, the Stormcast dino-dragon looks awesome, but I think it highlights what was said by others: That conversion is using an Indomitus-pattern terminator torso with Stormcast legs.  Power armor torsos might be too small.

I had hoped it could be as simple as a waist spacer but I am not sure, not having worked with the AoS models.  That's why I asked the group.  I really don't want to waste a bunch of time on money without a solid plan that I can execute with my skill level.

My green stuff skill is pretty rudimentary (read: non-existent).  I mean, I can use it like putty to seal a gap here and there, but that's about it.  Cutting up power armor legs is a pretty low-risk venture, but if the best I can do is an abortion of plastic, GS, and glue then perhaps it's an idea best left in the mind's eye...
