Kill team campaign story?

Hey all, need some creative help. I'm looking to set up a Kill team narrative campaign and I'm having a hard time getting my brain rolling creatively to come up with the narrative. So I'm hoping I can get some suggestions or ideas or thoughts or bits of thoughts or whatever to help clear the log jam some. Right now the campaign includes 6 players (5 regular players plus me, but I'm the GM so... counts as needed I guess) with the following armies that being used:
Dark Angles
Orks and Orks
Space Wolves
Space marines
 
And then I have Chaos or Space Marines that I can use to fill in the campaign as needed.
 
So.... ideas?
 
My brain is kind of stuck in the mind-set of Dawn of War: Winter Assault story wise (Which was a great game no argument there) but that was a fairly straight forward and simple story and when you get down to it was designed to be a single player experience. So I'm thinking a "Grab the Mulligan device" isn't going to fit the bill for the 5 players. Appreciate any ideas or suggestions you can give.

Orks attack planet, Wolves and the other Marines turn up to give them a kicking. Turns out they are working for Chaos, mysterious robed figures are rumoured to have been seen so the Traitors turn up to cover up their shamefull secret.

Or following the current 40k fluff its your straight up Imperial vs Chaos slobbernocker and Orks turn up just for a good scrap. Tbh you dont really need an excuse for Orks to be anywhere :lol:.

I think you need to look at motivations.

 

Orks are simple, Ork factions in the latter stages of forming a Waaargh so it boils down to the final Warbosses deciding who will be boss.

 

Artifacts are a key plot device and good enough to get the interest of the Imperials and Chaos forces.

 

The you have Space Wolves rivalry with the Dark Angels and there is the fallen. Space Wolves are also very independently minded so you could have an oath sworn by the Wolves to offer assistance to the Governor of the planet dating back centuries or even to the Great Crusade. They come in to assist with the Waaarrgh, Dark Angels are there hunting on the rumour of the Fallen or an artifact that may incriminate them and the Imperials are there under order of the Inquisition to reclaim something or perhaps arrest the Governor under some claim of Heresy.

 

You want to create as much tension between the factions to allow you to have a reason for them all to fight. Lots of chapters have dark secrets they may be willing to go to war with other chapters over.

Ooh the Governators personal Navigator could be from house Belasarus or whatever they were called the Wolves have a long history with those, maybe the Navigator asked his old friend Jarl Buttsniffer for aid?

Perhaps the Navigator is suspected of having come into contact with some information that may incriminate the Dark Angels as well but the Navigator has no idea what it is and has no idea of the true significance of the data. The Dark Angels were believed in official lore to have annihilated a Black Templar fleet on the suspicion of them discovering a Fallen Dark Angel who was present at the battle. Perhaps the Navigator has recovered data tapes from that incident but not looked at the data, there is your SW/DA conflict incentive right there.
