Help building 30k/40k 1000-2000 Iron Warriors/Iron Hand List

Hey there I am relatively new to these forums but I am looking to build an IW or IH list that I can use in both 30k and 40k that is around 1000-2000 points.
I am on a fairly low budget (I dont want to waste much more money on plastic) but I do have a lot of unpainted models sitting around such as a land raider, a drop pod a few fortifications and a Skitarii Dominus Mantiple that I would like to use as allies (but ignore them for now)

If anyone could suggest a basic army list that fulfills one of the legions' ROWs, I would greatly appreciate it!

Under 2k can be tough to do with heresy lists considering how expensive units can be, but it can be done. For IW, you probably want to focus on the ironfire rite. Basic force would probably be two tactical squads supported by rapier mortar batteries. From there you'd want to include units I'd consider "close assault forces" that will excel as your forward force in ironfire, like terminators or legion vets with the marksmen tactic. Add onto that you'd want some sort inexpensive anti armor option, like 2 laser vindicator destroyers.

Iron Hands is probably a bit more difficult to do at under 2k because I think their rite, head of the gorgon, only really shines at higher pts levels where you have room to take multiple land raiders and lots of other tanks. Could still try to build a heavily armor/mechanized list, you'd just have to stick to mostly rhinos for your tacticals, probably supported by outflanking vets/support squads and a solid base of armor like vindicator squadrons or sicarans.

Lastly some general advice about low pts games lists, there's a few choices you can make to reduce your pts cost. For example, preators can get pricey if you load up on good gear for them. Stick to using a delegatus instead, unlocks your rite of war at a lower cost. Another example might be take predator tanks instead of sicarans, since you could consider the predator a poor man's sicaran. You also want to focus on fewer big units opposed to a large number of small units, as that will also drive pts costs down.

I dont think that there are any mortars available to CSM or SM in 40k so I wont be able to use that rite sadly..

Yea I was originally thinking about just sticking a few tactical squads in rhinos and a couple tanks as the anvil and some outflanking units or a deathstar unit as the hammer but I didn't really think that that sort of list would work in IH

Would you suggest bining the idea of using the ROW &/or going for one of the more vanilla legions?

I missed the part about a dual 40k/30k armor, that does complicate things a bit. I think you actually can take rapier batteries for CSM, you'd just need the imperial armor thirteen book which has rules for that. I don't remember how useful they are though, certainly not as good as their 30k counterparts. Haven't taken a look at IA thirteen in awhile.

I wouldn't suggest going for a more "vanilla" legion mainly because I'd always encourage someone to go for the legion they like the lore/paint scheme for, not just the tactics. If you're a big fan of the IH mechanized/robotic theme and black armor, then it would be silly to play say Salamanders which have a completely different focus.

In terms of a list, a deathstar of some sort in a spartan is really difficult to fit in at under 2k, not to mention in a 40k environment their version of graviton is just going to go right through your flare shield, so the spartan isn't quite as good. Tacticals in rhinos are certainly a first good step, but you need something that packs a bigger punch like veterans which would be your ideal outflankers. Also can't go wrong with tanks, and fortunately in 30k there's a wide variety of tanks. Most 30k tanks you can take in 40k using the imperial armor books, but it more limited quantities.

Wow that's great, I would love to be able to use the creeping barrage ROW. Is there any way to field legion basilisks/medusas in 40k?

I'm a fan of EC & WE pre-heresy but I don't like their rules or their lore after they fully devoted themselves to a single god.
I really like the WB both pre/post heresy and they are quite similar to their 40k counterparts + I did do a nice conversion with one of their models that I could use as a Diabolist with a jump pack. How easy is it to run them under 2000 points?

So no smash:cusser prime then? ;) Yea that's kind of why I was thinking about IW, I am a big fan of their lore and I think I would suite their play style (gun lines and artillery - although I do love some good cc every one in a while)
