Not getting the boltgun/chainsword combo on the sergeants, doesn't it just mean one less BP shot on the way in to an assault?

Bolt pistol/Chainsword for an extra attack once you're in makes a little more sense.

They look good, though.

Looks like a boltpistol to me, the version that comes with the Mk3's are larger than the standard versions.

I really wanted to win this game but that did not happen. I also lost the previous game to another Nurgle player with Daemons of Nurgle list. Both of this time were my first time facing Nurgle and Death Guard lists so I had no idea how to play them. The luck was not on my side either. So right now I am at 2 Victories and 2 Losses in the league. 1st Victory was against a Ravenguard player, second one was against Emperors Children war band. Followed by 2 consecutive losses. I still have another 6 players to play against。

Discovered this article by GW on taking photos, this is some proper good advice for camera noobs like me.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2016/11/13/the-model-photo-how-to-photograph-models-for-display/

Seriously, low ISO and appropriate Exposure time are all the difference.

So here is my progress as a painter, Im particularly proud of progression on the bleached bone took me 25 Terminators to get the 26th one right.

I am using this guide to paint my guys http://taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/tutorial-how-to-paint-deathwing.html more or less at least. Basically just got the idea of using XV -88 recess shading and Zamesi Desert for the yellowing of the bone colour. Compared to the way its done in the tutorial my Tartaros has more white and i prefer this transition from bone yellow to grey white.

This are the models Ive done about 3.5 - 4.5 years ago Banner bearer is from second squad and Knight is from the third. So roughly 10th and 15th Terminators Ive painted. I was really proud of this guys back then but I think they will be getting stripped and repainted in the near future.

Now this Cataphractii Squad are the 5th Squad of terminators that I own, respectively they are 20-25th models of terminators that I painted about 2 or 2.5 years ago. And I got really close to getting them right. They were the test bed for trying out XV-88 and Zamesi desert for shading, they came out alright, quite sloppy and messy. but look fine on the table. The metals need some shading and highlights and i missed a chainfist on one guy. also power sword needs to be done.

Now following that;

About a year ago painted up this nice looking FW Tartaros Terminators and I felt I finally got the colour right and was really happy with them. I know they have some problems here and there, but overall Im very happy with the result. I haven't painted terminators in awhile after finishing this squad (like half a year). I kinda got a good/fast/efficient enough way of painting them up now and i got the tricks up my sleeve so painting the last 15 I got primed and base coloured shouldnt take longer than half a year or so XD.

Took some good photos today, picked up black card stock for background, gonna get a white one tomorrow for more photo practice,

Venerable Brother Zariah Ancient of Deathwing.

During his duty to the Lion and the Emperor Eternal, Honored Brother Zariah gained  2 Assault commendations during his 57 year duty in 8th Assault Squad of the 3rd Company, rising to the rank of Sergent and then unto Company Veteran gaining induction into the first tiers of the Inner Circle.

During the recruitment mission in Kaliites system Segmentum Obscurus, a ground team of the 3rd company came under ambush by the forces of traitor Astartes and were systematically captured or destroyed. The traitors were of the Death Guard legion, the ambush was carefully planned and executed.

Just as Dark Angels were deploying the demi-company onto the planet to confront the traitors, Death Guard legionaries were boarding Thunderhawks and making escape to their Light Cruiser Seed of Blight which was waiting in hiding in the asteroid field.  A Dark Angel's Strike Cruiser Sword Of Purgation  has aleady deployed half of the company and which became engaged with corrupted followers and cultists of the Chaos God Nurgle. The Recruitment world was fouled, the taint must be expunged. However the traitors were escaping with valuable Geneseed and warriors of the 3rd company. Leaving 3 of its 7 Thunderhawk gunships to support the half of the 3rd company on the planet Sword Of Purgation gave chase! Traitors ship was a nible fly zig zagging through the asteroid field, for a Strikecruiser of an ancient design such as Sword Of Purgation it was not an option, therefore they opened fire with they Bombardment Cannon shattering the asteroids and using them as shrapnel to rip the ship apart. The Bridge of Seed of Blight came apart as one of the asteroids broke through the void shields and impacted with such force that it went straight through the ship coming out on the other side. The Command crew and the Leader of the Warband  whose name was not recorded in the annals of the  honorable Dark Angels Chapter were instantaneously killed in silent inferno of a thousand killotons of metal being ripped apart. Using the confusion and failing ship systems the remaining members of the original ground team made their break out and held out on the dying and burning ship killing every last traitor on board even as they themselves were being  burned alive in the bursts of plasma energy seeping from the enginarium all across the ship.  The salvation of the last 4 surviving members never came. Their bodies were recovered from the wreck of Seed of Blight after 49 hours of it silently burning in the void of space.  Brother Zariah and 2 others were recovered in suspended animation and entered into Dreadnought chassis following the recuperation process administered by Apothecaries. Due to complications from wounds sustained on the Traitor ship only Honored Brother made it into final stage of interment into Dreadnought Chassis of the 3rd Company.  His service continued with 3rd company for another 189 years, until  the incursion of Forge World Sesta during which Brother Zariah  crushed the back of Emperors Children Daemon Prince  Cecil the Licker. and for deeds of glory and upholding the Chapters honour he was elevatated to Deathwing First Company and granted a Relic Leviathan Dreadnought chassis.

Did a testing recently on a technique I acquired.

Soft dry-brushing using make up brushes (as in medium sized brushes for make up that ladies use) . The results in my opinion were... well quite amazing.  This brushes being really soft and really fluffy manage to prevent the sandy effect and visible brush strokes. You do have to replace them in my opinion quite often, at least every month to keep the smoothness going.

Primed with Tamiya TS-2 Dark Green, Base coated with Vallejo GCO Heavy Blackgreen, midtone drybrush with Warpstone Glow and highlighy dry brush with Moot Green.

Followed by a wash with Coelia Greenshade.

The model doesnt look as bright to a naked eye looking down on the tabletop but shades and highlights are visible. The whole process took ~10 minutes, painting a whole company like this might actually work and wouldnt take a year.

Forgot to fix the mold lines and the botched greenstuff on the wrist, while drybrushing didnt remove enough paint and ruined the helmet, had to repaint the head.

Been using this brush for about a month now, should go try a new one see how it changes.

Been wondering;  Rapier weapon batteries, are they part of the armory, attached to a Company and assigned to Devastators Squad or would they be part of the Devastator Company instead, assigned to various companies as attachments, like RW and DW.

Acording to Codex Astartes a Company must contain 2 Devastator Squads equipped with 1 Sergeant, 4 Space Marines with  4 Heavy Weapons and 5 Marines with Bolt Guns.  Does Rapier Weapon battery count as a heavy weapon? I would say yes its a heavy weapon on tracks. It needs two people to operate a spotter and a crew man.  So a Squad of 10 man could operate 5 Platforms, the squadron however comes in size of 3 platforms, so you would end up having 1 and a half squadron for a single squad. Which just doesnt sound right, not something Guilliman would write, all of his numbers are nice and round. Technically a squad of 10 marines has enough people to man 4 heavy weapons and 3 platforms at the same time. However I dont think that would happen, they are left without protection of smaller arms.

The issue actually stems from the thought of how to paint the shoulders of my Quad Mortars, as part of Devastator Company or part of my 5th Company?
