Lord Marshal Posted April 7, 2017 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Right now, I'm not exactly swimming in funds to throw at everything necessary to make the pinnacle of a 30k force, however the minute I hear the words "power armour" my eyes glaze over. With that in mind, I'm looking to somewhat scavenge together a Solar Auxilia army that can - to a point - pull double-duty with my Imperial Guard and that means an awful lot of Leman Russ' and magnets (though I'm still going to fork out for the infantry as they just look too good). In the long (long) term I'll be able to diversify further but for the time being this is what I'm looking at. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I've only heard good things about it, but my reservations for getting one are simply that I don't want to fork out £97 for a tank I can only use in Horus Heresy games since I live in one of those circles where Forge World in 40k is viewed as a bit... well, not well. It's the same reason there's no Dracosan's for my infantry. In the long term I may invest in one if the game stays alive locally, but right now I'm trying to do the best I can with - aside from the infantry - cross-compatible kit. I think this is a fine example of the cheap path. Tank Commander - 55pts Which tank is he going with? The stormlord? I wish you had the points for another one for the vanquishers. Troops Auxilia Infantry Terico #1 Auxilia Lasrifle Section - 190pts - Aegis Defence Line - Quad gun Auxilia Lasrifle Section - 190pts - Aegis Defence Line - Quad gun That is a lot of points in aegis defense line and very few scoring units. Consider giving the marshal the infiltrate warlord trait so that he can move some guys closer. Auxilia Infantry Terico #2 Veletaris Storm Section - 120pts - Melta bombs Veletaris Storm Section - 120pts - Melta bombs These guys need some kind of ride or they'd be better off as more lasrifles. Fast Attack Leman Russ Strike Squadron - 555pts Leman Russ Vanquisher - Lascannon Leman Russ Vanquisher - Lascannon Leman Russ Vanquisher - Lascannon Neat. I like vanquishers in 30k because they're a good answer to spartans. However, unless you're giving one of them the Tank Commander, there is no reason to have them in a single squadron. The benefits are nearly non-existent and the risks are huge. Heavy Support Leman Russ Assault Squadron - 600pts Leman Russ Executioner Leman Russ Executioner Leman Russ Executioner Throwing small blasts means that the BS 4 upgrade is only marginally beneficial. I'd break these guys up into individual tanks too. Lords of War Auxilia Stormlord - 515pts - Armoured Ceramite I assume that the velentaris are riding here? That'd help them a lot. Consider using the executioners to snip off artificer armor sergeants before this tank shreds the rest of the marine squad. Overall, a cool list with some real potential.
