*Update* - scroll down for Primaris.

Hello folks!

Have just posted this in WIP, but thought i would also post it here as i would value your comments. Cheers all! :biggrin.:

Well, after real life got in the way (as per usual) i have finally had a chance to make some progress on my wolf pack! I have gone for the feel of a great company cast adrift in the warp a long time ago. Finding themselves far from home they continued fighting wherever needed, until the rune priests dire warnings of great danger to the hearthworld caused them to embark of the difficult and dangerous journey home.

The marines are a mixture of Mk4 marines, space wolf and random other bits and I have done my best to give every model its own individual feel.

Please let me know what you think. :smile.:

As some of you may have seen, I have finished Haakon Greymane himself (or at least his first incarnation)...

med_gallery_87416_12060_801414.jpg

And i also completed His trusted adviser, the runepriest Jorek Icehowl

med_gallery_87416_12060_437897.jpg

I have finally re-based my dreadnought (name to be confirmed - suggestions welcome :smile.: )...

med_gallery_87416_12060_642487.jpg

Next up i thought some terminators to guard my Lord. I know terminators get a lot of bad press, but i like them and thought in true wolf fashion, they should be close combat orientated. They still need to be painted but here they are...

med_gallery_87416_12060_180409.jpg

I also thought some fire power always helps, and so the long fangs came to be. Greenstuffing beards and hair is an interesting experience. Unfortunately, also in need of painting, but here they are...

med_gallery_87416_12060_1652987.jpg

...and basecoated...

med_gallery_87416_12060_728323.jpg

And of course, what wolf company is complete without the Gray Hunters at its very core? 50/50 complete on the painting and some still need basing (I'm currently waiting on more slate chips). On a side note though, i'm not sure what colour to edge the bases...

med_gallery_87416_12060_1283852.jpg

med_gallery_87416_12060_184486.jpg

In the construction stage, is another potential lord/WGBL...

med_gallery_87416_12060_1640536.jpg

And to come is a mob of blood claws, another dread or two (including Bjorn),some armour (thinking Land Raider Crusader, razorback and some rhinos) and some wulfen. Maybe a flyer or two? oh and there is a knight lurking in the wings. Still working on some comversion ideas for that... :smile.:

Anyway, i hope you like them so far. And as I say, any comments/feedback most welcome.

Cheers,

GM

Great work Greymane, especially the work on the greenstuff beards. I'm really glad people are using the brownish grey scheme nowadays instead of the blue grey that the studio uses. Seems to have been boosted in popularity since Burning of Prospero.

So, despite my initial misgivings, i have picked up some of the new Primaris marines.

Transpires they are actually very nice models. and here is my first:

med_gallery_87416_13341_337723.jpg

I was quite pleased with the arm scanner/auspex...

med_gallery_87416_13341_186970.jpg

I am considering remaking my pack as primaris. The models are very cool and more to scale for 'real' marines.

Anyways, watch this space for some more in the not too distant future.

Hope you like him and any feedback welcome as usual.

Cheers,

Looks great!  Terrific detail on the arm, very crisp edge highlights and recesses.  That lieutenant has one of my favorite poses from the box.

I find the proportions to be more pleasing as well, and I'll be finding ways to incorporate primaris into my lists.

So, a little update.

I have built some intercessors.

First up, sarge:

And the rest of the lads...

med_gallery_87416_13341_90038.jpg

med_gallery_87416_13341_179942.jpg

med_gallery_87416_13341_178389.jpg

Some greenstuff hair and beard bits needed, with maybe some wolf bits. Any thoughts?

I have also started work on my wolflord in gravis armour:

med_gallery_87416_13341_764511.jpg

I have removed the iron halo and the unfortunate crotch-bone and replaced it with a wolf belt:

med_gallery_87416_13341_70474.jpg

Other parts include Dragongaze's axe:

med_gallery_87416_13341_25379.jpg

And i have replaced the powerfist with Geigor Fell-hand's claw (further greenstuffing required!)

med_gallery_87416_13341_52252.jpg

I'm hoping to modify the terminator wolf pelt and fit it in somewhere, and again some further greenstuffing and parts required. Maybe an eyepatch? What do you think?

I hope you like them so far! :smile.:

Cheers,

GM

The Wolves look great Primarisized!

I am hoping that some enterprising company gets some aftermarket Primarisized arms with chainswords out on the market so I can do a full SW army of this size.

Putting those Primaris on those elevated bases has got to have them just towering over the battlefield.

Closer look at that Gravis Captain and that belt buckle looks like a huge groin protector. Is the bone ornament capable of being shaved off and one of the small wolf skulls pendants able to placed in it instead?

  • 2 weeks later...

So a bit more on my primaris captain. I have been working on putting a bearskin cape on him. I started with the one from the terminators and have cut, pinned and greenstuffed from there:

I quite like how its coming along so far.

However one thing i cant decide is which head to use. I have narrowed it down to these so far:

Any thoughts?

Well i hope you like him so far. Any feedback welcome as usual! :)

Hello folks,

The head in question is from the chaos marauder horsemen set. :)

And the bear cloak is from the Space Wolf Terminator set. The original goes across the shoulders, hence why so much green stuff on this version.

Glad you like it and please steal the idea if you wish. ;)

Cheers,

GM

What are the base heads for these from? They look great with the beards and ive exhausted the (few) heads I like from the base SW range.

med_gallery_87416_12060_1652987.jpg

These are a mix of Norse and Cossack heads from puppets war .

Bit smaller than standard marine heads, but work nicely for old school marines i find. Not tried one on a primaris yet.... :)

Cheers,

GM
