362 Bellemonde Penal Legion

Recommended Posts

I've decided to join in and share pictures of my Imperial Guard so far, and then new pictures as my army develops.  I was pretty focused on this army for about 5 years, but then took a 5 year break from the hobby.  But now I'm back!

The background/history for my army can be found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332077-brotherhood-of-angels-2017/?p=4706333

First, a pic of my army as it usually sits.

As I paint more, I'm going to have to negotiate with my wife for more shelf space. :smile.:

Here it is all set up - all painted except the stuff at the back and about 30 miniatures.

Now, some close ups.

My company command squad:

Some infantry through the sea of men:

My sentinels.  Though not shown, they are swappable between the various weapon options.

My rough riders:

And some vehicles:

Hope you enjoyed!  Let me know if there is anything you specifically want pictures of.

Expect some new stuff soon!

Excellent!

So many cool components to this army... love the stripy fatigues of the convicts, love the camel Rough Riders and the overall unity of this force.

Brilliant :smile.:

EDIT: Just spotted the field police... even more win! :D

Thank you very much, Inso & WarriorFish.  That means a lot to me, especially given the excellence of your own armies.  I'm very proud of them and I'm happy that others like them too. :)

As for next... photo wise, I want to get a better photo of my arbites, as Inso seemed interested in them.

As for new stuff, I'm very excited about the valkyrie I'm working on.  Just have to finish the door gunners and it will be ready for photos - so next week end, hopefully.

Thanks, Tallarn Commander and duz_!  He was pretty easy to do - just swapped in most of an infantry arm (with open hand - to normally hold a lasgun), then glued him in place... there may have been some greenstuff to hold him against the turret, but that's all, really.  Totally worth the (minimal) effort.

I don't field him as a tank commander, though... he's just to make the tank look more real and interesting.  My other Russ has an even more visible "commander" - but again, he's there for aesthetic purposes only.

Pretty productive week, but first the pictures I promised.

My arbites!

Now... my new stuff.  I've finished my Valkyrie - magnatized for all weapon options and to be a Vendetta.  I tried to match the paint scheme I remember from Soviet Hind helicopters in their war in Afghanistan.

As well, I gave some tank crews to my baneblade.

Dude those arbites!

I like the two tone camo on the valk, I went for the same with my stormtalons although I went with a black under carriage. Being night ops / not necessarily have air superiority etc

Looking forward to the baneblade!

Thanks duz_!  I'm glad you like them.

Your stormtalons sound neat - do you have a link to pics that you can shoot us?

Just finished painting the turret of the baneblade... which feels really good, until looked at the rest  of the model and realized that I'd only finished about 10% of the model. :(

Glad you like them and their ride.  The models are (mostly) from 2nd edition, I think - the guy who is looking at his shotgun is older, while the ones with the green visors are enforcers from when GW did the Necromunda re-release about 8 or 10 years ago.  I have another old arbite model that I should get around to painting... a guy with a maul, bolt pistol and a mohawk helmet.

That was actually the first chimera I built, and I lucked out giving it a stubber (this was back in 4th ed., when witchhunters could have stormtroopers, but only pintle stormbolters).  I do wish my skills had been such that I could have given it real lights, but alas they weren't (and still aren't).

Well, still painting my baneblade (about 1/2 done), so no pictures of new stuff to show.  That said, I was going to play Shadow War this WE, so I gathered some of my existing minis into a kill team.  Didn't end up playing, as real life interevened and my friend had to reschedule it to next WE. but I thought you guys might enjoy a picture of it.

Look great

Makes me wonder if Col Schaffers team would be a great collection for SW:A...

Also we dont mind seeing partially completed painting shots. In fact I believe we encourage that here... :)

Thanks.  I think the Last Chancer's would work well model wise, but their equipment would be a bit bland - most of them just have lasguns.

And if you don't mind half painted models, here is my baneblade so far.  Feels wierd posting it unfinished though - kind of like playing with half-painted models, it just feels wrong. :)

I've now finished my baneblade.  It an the valkyrie are the largest things I have painted, so doing them back-to-back may not have been too smart.

(sorry - I forgot to remove the extra gun barrel before taking this

TANK SHOCK!

mOWUH2l.jpg

Also got in a couple of games of Shadow War against my friend's orks.

First game was me being ambushed by the orks.  Managed to take out a couple with my flamer, but then the nob got stuck in with his power klaw, took out my sergeant, and I bottled - just as well, as the nob could have likely taken out my whole gang.  My sergeant got hatred for his nob, and my  flamer got +1 T from my team's after game advance.  His nob got fearsome reputation.

Second game was just a basic fight.  I started in one corner, with the orks split between the 2 corners across from me.  Orks went first, and pegged my flamer in the head with a rokkit, taking him out (T 4 isn't so great against Str 8).  After that, I holed up in my corner and let the orks come to me.  My friend tried to move his nob and two yoofs in 2 early, letting me hit them with a grenade and most of my gang's fire, letting me then concentrate on the flankers.  He failed his second bottle test, fortunately before any could make it into melee.  My flamer got hatred for his rokkit guy, and my plasmagunner got the skill ammo hound (really hard choice between that and hip shooting).  And I captured one of his ork, but the rescue attempt will have to wait until next time, as we ran out of time.

Thanks!  I'm quite happy about it.  Indeed, it can be funny how little details can stick out to a painter as being particularly successful - for me, its the little black half-aquilas on the gas tanks. :)

As for hating orks, its a good long hatred. :)  This is the friend whose orks I started playing against (and painting) back in 3rd ed., back when I was playing sisters of battle.  We'll have to see what the new edition brings for him - currently his speed freak orks are rather lame ducks in 7th.  They work fine in Shadow War, though... that nob is a beast.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, last weekend I picked up a toy from a garage sale that I think I can convert into a heavy IG walker - though I've never done anything quite this complicated/big before, so my imagination may outstrip my ability. :)

Its fairly large... maybe twice as wide as a leman russ.  I've already stripped off all the bits of the toy I don't intend to keep.

I'll post more picks when I start construction.

Thanks for the advice.   I don't think I need to cut it at all, but I will be gluing lots of things to it, so the advice about glue is much appreciated.

Thanks, Nicodemus and Kierdale.

Nicodemus, the paints I use for my vehicles are all Tamiya spray paints.  They are Dark Yellow for the main colour, Red Brown for the dark stripes, and Tan (USAF) for the light stripes.  I think I'll try to find another colour for the light stripes, as the Tan doesn't provide enough contrast - I used to use a different brand, but it ran out and I can't find it in any stores anymore.

Baneblade looks great   Thats a LOT of Model to paint there   i can see being burnt out a common occurrence with those things !!

Good luck with the toy project,it looks like it'll need a lot of bling to look 40k'ified :ermm:

Cheers, Mithril

p.s. i really love your "Camel Backs" :biggrin.:
