What have your Raven Guard done lately?

Feeling under the weather so can't really paint.

Finished my 2 lascannon devs to complete my tournament list. Now just to paint it all...

You can see the FW helmets and shapeways shoulder pads (https://www.shapeways.com/product/KRQSCUQJP/raven-legion-gen7-standard-shoulder-x10?productConfiguration=58649777&etId=152382363&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order-shipped&utm_content=3)

Those are really cool. How much lead time is there from shapeways?

Heres a response I prepared earlier! ;) (Ps I'm based in the states so may change timings)

Well I made the mistake of ordering my wife's valentine's day present at the same time.

So although it looked like the shoulder pads were ready to ship within 2-3 days I had to wait another nearly 2 weeks for the other item to be ready.

Having read the shipping details I now know to order different material products individually unless you don't mind the wait!

I guess had I just ordered the pads it would probably have been maybe 5-6 business days door to door. Im excited though. Most of my marines are missing one shoulder pad.

Due to finances, I've had to focus drive time to necessities, so "lately" my Raven Guard have been in the bags/boxes.  The Grey Knight attachment and recent Tempest cache put me at the end of my budget that needs to go somewhere else.  Damn I need a better paying job ...

But ...

What I have stored over the years is slowly getting painted.  Yesterday saw the preparation of the FW parts on my MkII Land Raider.  Tomorrow will see the other Land Raider get cut off the sprue.

Was that TMI?  I felt like sharing.

Mine got themselves allied with a small detachment of Raptors led by Issodon and managed to secure the corpse of a Fallen Battle Sister that held critical intel for future missions. Despite a sizeable force of Sororitas with the Living Saint leading the charge, the Raptors' cunning and the Raven Guard's swiftness carried the day.

Props goes to Issodon for being generally awesome and, combined with the TSF and Pinion BC special rules, got the Sisters of battle completely thrown back in their battle plan, forced to deal with two fronts. Some cool moments in the game:

- Issodon boldly deployed deep behind enemy lines with a lone scout squad, quickly bolstered by a Tactical squad in Drop pod and full RAG coming in hot for the Living Saint and it's bodyguards. That front eventually collapsed but took a big toll on the sisters and bought time for the rest of my force;

- Repentias led by a priest turned themselves into living blenders, cutting down everything that was in charge range!

- My Thunderfire that failed to account for itself for the first time in at least 20 games! Something when wrong with the targeting devices on that thing...

- Issodon's Infiltrate Isolate and Destroy ability took care of a Vindicare Assassin before the begining of the game. Ninja'd!

- Ignore Cover on Lascannon Devastator and Tactical squad with Heavy Grav. Enough said...

Great game. It was a lot closer than either of us could have thought off after my first turn and as such, probably the best game I had in a long time. We were able to pull most of our cool tricks (Deepstriking RAG for the Win!!!) and the tide of battle was on the edge up to Turn 6.

My army is still mostly grey though...

Well the weather has finally turned and i was able to spray prime most of my army that i built over the winter.

Last night I played a nasty tyranid list. 2 flying hive tyrants, 2 tervigons, 2 mawlocs, 2 shrouded bubble bugs (?), 2x30 gaunts. And a subterranean uprising from gsc. Smashed both tervigons to death turn 2, put a few wounds on the tyrants. I was doing really well through 4 turn when the mawlocs showed up and shredded a couple squads of vanguard. In the end he just out lasted me with too many bodies.

Half a week of gaming and painting, though part of it with my AdMech.

Raptors got painted further. A count-as LotD squad got mostly done, a bit work went into the second LSS, and I recorded a video of the process for a quick wet blending tutorial. Once I figure out how to dub it (original explanation to a friend was German), I'll start throwing together the rest of the tutorial. Haven't done something like this yet, so we'll see how it turns out.

As a first game with the sneaky fellows, they teamed up with a friends' smurfs to beat up the local hive fleet.

  • 2 weeks later...

Played a 2k tournament prep game against dark eldar last night. Tbe guy was running 5 talos, 3 chronos, 4 venoms and some other stuff.

My vanguard were able to take care of the talos and 2 chronos at the cost of 12 of themselves. 4+ FNP on a T7 monster was tough. My storm talons zoomed back and forth across the table destroying anything they came across in the open. I needlessly piled in my warlord and bikes to the taalos combat and he chose to focus on them, killing them to a man.

We went the distance, going all 7 turns. He won claiming 2 objectives and ruining my day with kill points.
