This should clear it all up plasmaspam:

IndexBookSpreadv2.jpg

Of course! The Indexes! These five books are the most requested things from you guys and gals out there; all of you wanted to be able to use your army with the new edition from day one. No problem.

Between them, these five softback Index books provide rules for every single Warhammer 40,000 Citadel Miniature we sell. They are broken down into themed books: 2 for the Imperium, 1 for the forces of Chaos, and 2 for the xenos races of the galaxy.

To start gaming with your existing army, you just need the box set or the Warhammer 40,000 book and whichever Index book has their datasheets and you’re good to go.

Oh, and don’t worry, this doesn’t mean Orks and Tyranids are now on the same side, it just means they share a book for the moment. In the future, they’ll get their own dedicated codexes.

And don't forget these. They'll have rules for all of FW current miniatures.

I might be wishful thinking a little after reading that link you posted Orkinstein, but I noticed reinforcements come in at the end of the movement phase in 8th instead of before the movement phase like in 7th.

Given units can't come in within 9" of the enemy and no longer scatter, I can't help but wonder if specialist wargear such as, I don't know, teleport homers, will allow reinforcements to come in closer. Suddenly we're looking at one two punching RW & DW again but this time with the ability of almost assured charges the turn the DW come down, oh my!

I remember I read some where before, if you want to go to 9" within enemy you will scatter... I might be wrong...

I am thinking about Darkshroud, if it keeps same rule as 7ed. That will be excellent. Darkshroud can DS with DW then DW can charge without facing overwatch.

Not sure if you found this:

http://natfka.blogspot.ca/2017/05/8th-edition-core-rules-battle-round.html?m=1

We can charge after DS. GO! Deathwing GO!

this makes Knights pretty nice. get into combat that same turn. the question would be who rides in LR now vs who is going to deep strike in a DW list

If you don't use a pure DW, I think some units that cannot DS will be best choice. Our Company Veterans Squad, all take combi-weapons with Ezekiel or Azrael. (Ezekiel and Azrael are DW anyways...) Not sure if Azreal can give a 4++ bubble...

Man those US prices are terrible. Compared to the UK prices, we're paying a premium. In fact, I'm fairly certain I could buy from a UK online retailer and pay for shipping and still get it cheaper. Disappointing stuff. GW apparently thinks exchange rates haven't moved since the 90s.

Guys, while there's enthusiasm about new edition we can't forget this is the DA forum and if we're not discussing DA related news of the 8th, there is a thread ( several in fact)in news and rumors section for general discussion. So let's keep this DA related.

Agreed.

I, for one, am very interested to know how the Dark Angels will justify inducting Primaris marines into the chapter, from a lore perspective. These are Roboute's creations, the guy who literally wrote the codex. How will these new children of the Emperor react to the dark secret the Inner Circle harbors?

They should not be in Ravenwing or Deathwing right away.

A reason for Ravenwing could be viable, i.e. a Great bike rider, but being Ravenwing does not automatically say you know about the Fallen.

As for Deathwing there is no way in hell they can justify a Primaris being one...

This is not me hating on the Primaris its purely how Deathwing works.

Marines that have not been indoctrinated by the chapter being allowed in ? No way. They did not undergo the tutelage under the chaplains as scouts to learn the traditions of the chapter, they did not listen to the sermons about the story of the Deathwing.

Dark Angels dont even trust their own Techmarines with any kind of inner circle knowledge. No way this marines created on mars by mechanicum would be even allowed to join the chapter. Hold on did I just say they were created on mars by mechanicum? Did they use geneseed reserves without the First Legions consent? Since when did this go on?

We Dark Angels are suspicious folk, I would not trust another chapter to even board on Angelicasta. implying that I would let some unknown mutant marines join the chapter is just mind boggling.

And given how their Master of the Forge is hardwired into the Rock is quite amusing.

It seems that Guilliman gave the Chapters the means to create Primaris instead of giving them ready-made Primaris, so integration of Primaris in a the DA is almost a non-issue (IMHO) because DA can create their own, without external infuences.

So, basically they are subject to the same rules as a "normal" marine whe it comes to ascension to DW or RW.

Give the premise that DA are free to create their own and not integrating stranger pre-made Primaris, I would recon DA would take the advantage of it.

My 2 cents.

Oh of course we would be foolish not to, I can see any premade ones we acquire being limited to Battle Companys, were as the Upgrade ones it does not matter and the Homemade ones are free to go anywhere they earn.

Yeah it's about 75 to 100 depending on the marine in question and attrition rate.

Let's not forget that marines can be made into primaris marines. That will justify us having a squad or 2 of dw and rw right off the bat. Special marines chosen for a special task and received the upgrade from the chapter first.

I also don't see why homegrown, home psycho indoctrinated, using a proven 10k year old screening process, librarian filtered, superior warriors would not be allowed into the dw, rw, and inner circle. I highly doubt a primaris without the right heart would be allowed in. Remember the story where the marine shothimself while being examined by Ezekiel because his "heart" was not in the right place? It's apparently very obvious to a librarian if your worthy. It's not possible that those primaris will not exist.

On another note. Lieutenants. How do you guys think they'll fit into DA? What naming do you think they'll have?
