Rangaman Posted April 14, 2017 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I've been running variations of Armoured Spearhead lists for a while now, they are fun and look awesome but a lot of my opponents now know to gear up on massed anti-armour...especially my Cybernetica mate who runs multiple Vulturax and Darkfire Castellax. So, I've played around with some alterations that I think keep some of the heavy hitters from my Armoured Spearhead but add increased mobility with two Dreadclaws and a Kharybdis. The plan here is to drop Horus alone in a Dreadclaw first turn alongside the Machine Killer Veterans, I will deploy the three tanks in cover, hopefully blocking LoS, before moving them out at full speed in support of the Primarch. They are all either Fast or have Machine Spirit so their firepower wont be to limited. Finally I have the Kharybdis with a Tactical squad and Chaplain for outnumbering and to kill any rear deployed units like Rapiers or Support squads etc. Cortus Dread drops in to wreck face and distract some shots too. Caillum Posted April 14, 2017 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Looks good - it would be pretty tactical having a mix of armour and pods. :) I don't take a power fist on a Chaplain - the free power weapon is good enough. Why don't you swap 2 combi-meltas for meltaguns on the Veterans? It's only an extra 10 points for 6 turns of melta shots instead of only 1. Can you squeeze an Apothecary into the Tactical Blob? The only other suggestion would be to find a way to run an odd numbers of Drop Pods. 4 is an awkward number. Not sure how you could do this short of redesigning the whole list... So dropping the Tactical blob down a couple of members will get me the Apothecary, maybe I should just do a straight swap for CCW instead of purchasing them extra ones, that way I can afford a full squad. Rangaman Posted April 18, 2017 Author Share Posted April 18, 2017 Small change to the list theme, this is an all out Orbital Assault list using Horus solo in a Dreadclaw and will have 4 pods first turn. Gone for the Dreadclaw over the Dreadnought pod because it is 1) Still unavailable from FW and 2) The Dreadclaw will probably be more helpful in getting a good charge off. Lots of Veterans because that is what Sons of Horus are about, a medium size Plasma Support squad so it isn't points overkill and a pair of Terminator Forgelords with Beamers, they will Deepstrike at either corner of the battlefield and have fun with Relentless S10 blasts from opposite ends of the map.
