Try a lime green visor with yellow highlights. 

The green at the darkest point will tie in with the mini but the yellow will pop.

If that doesnt look right maybe go with a really dark red (think Darth Vadar lenses)

yeah I'm starting to think i should paint up an Orange,Red,Green,Blue and Purple visor'd helm and take pics of all of em to compare... Ha!, maybe that would be a good way to tell platoons apart...

there's always one smarty pants in every regiment... i'm not sure but i think the yellow would clash with the Green and zandri...both of those are my primary colours and seem to have yellow base tones in them, as cool as the idea would be i do actually think it would blend in too much (although iv'e been wrong before...a lot ), OR it could just compliment it massively

Well... i don't have the pic to load with me but i tried all the colours,even turquoise and the clear winner was.... not yellow or purple or Green and Turquoise

Red clashed with the beret but in future it could work on a blue or a green Beret But the Clear winner was Blue so all grunts will be in blue and officers/Sgt's in Orange.

Will be working on some more guys tonight after work, and after emailing some list building advice with Duz i'm going to put an Auto Cannon Heavy weapon team together... Now do i get me some of those awesome juweela sandbags from secret weapons to put in front ?....

From memory there was an aussie ebay store that was selling the sand bags fairly cheap ... just saying. ;)

 

Having seen the Tamiya 1/35 bags in person now I'd have to agree they're definitely on the larger size.

Back On topic though, i worked out to do ALL my army in Beret heads will be somewhat $$$... so i'm thinking that base platoon troopers get the Cadian helmet with a red stripe down the middle (using the red stripe as a link) and just using the Red Beret heads on specialists(maybe),Command Squads and also Veteran Squads... ?... C&C?...

I have to admit I was curious what the investment in doing that was going to be!

 

Maybe spare the heads for SGTs, vets and command squads? The red stripe would work, you could also do the stripe on the ear piece too/instead of the centre? Im not sure if I'd do the stripe the full length of the helmet if you down the middle of it? Maybe just a dash on the front? Sounds like there's at least 4 ways you'll have to trial. ;)

Yeah, Berets for Sgt's,Vet's & Command.

I Painted a test head(helmet) last night and only went from the front over the wings and over to the boxy piece that pokes out at the back (comms box or whatever it is) so not all the way over and relatively fast if you use the winged skull and rear boxy part as a line guide,

I will post him up tonight and then when i'm happy...will throw all the test models(10 of them) into an ice cream container filled with Simple green! as they simply have too many test coats of paint on em to pass close inspection the only survivor will be the test Sgt who only had one change on him .

Luckily I do have a whole 10 Man squad of fresh new Cadians getting cleaned up and ready for the refined procedure (light primer with Corax White then a base coat of GW Zandri spray) it will speed things along real quick...actually as i'm typing this i'm really thinking i should get "2" squads ready and the Hvy weapon team as well to get the most from a can of Zandri dust.

here's a quick job on the grunt,not highlighted but we see how it will basically look last question to ask is the rifles?...keep em black & metal or zandri like the armour?

The grunt looks great! The red stripe nicely ties him into the troopers with visors.

actually from looking around i see others have done similar

i.e. this Perfect example by UltraRich - (if mine ever end up looking this good, i'll be a very happy camper indeed )

I'll try one with zandri and highlight it up to finished stage tonight and see what they look like...

Zandri would probably be the better option. A weapon matching the armour makes more sense than matching the fatigues. UltraRich's is a nice example how awesome green weapons look, but don't forget that your scheme is practically inverted compared to his. If you follow his example, you'll need Zandri-coloured rifles.

...alright! the consensus says i will do the lasgun's in Zandri.

here is todays WiP i did them at work under the desk while it was quiet shhhh - hope to put a lick o paint on em tonight

they will be getting the "Juweela sandbag" treatment and some barbed wire on posts on monday night (hopefully the order arrives then!)
