[SWA] A new "single player" + Game Master campaign approach

Having been a role-playing Game Master for over 20 years, I always liked creating dynamic and unpredictable fights and fighting environments for my players, challenging them, but at the same time ensuring they are not overpowered and the experience isn't soured by an unfair challenge.

In this new idea for an approach, there would be one or many players in a campaign, each with their own Kill Team as usual, but they would not be playing versus each other (PvP), but instead against a common enemy holding the scenario ground (I guess we can say PvE). Whether the main flavour enemy force of the week would be GeneCult or Chaos, that's to be decided by the one person controlling the whole enemy force throughout the campaign - the Game Master.

It would be the GMs job to come up with scenarios, set up and play enemy in an entertaining manner, etc, at the same time it's fun for him to challenge the players' skills and imagination with whatever he comes up with. This way, the enemy force would be consistent throughout and would permit random surprise scenarios, like a known Chaos-held territory being suspiciously empty, until the player grabs the first objective / item and then reality rips apart and a Helbrute assisted by a score of cultists appears and an easy run turns into the fight for their lives :D

This sounds very interesting, with lots of potential.

Such a campaign could be run as a purely cooperative endeavor, a purely competitive endeavor, or as a cooperative/competitive endeavor.

Indeed! I thought of four variants so far:

1) 1 player = 1 model Kill Team

2) classic, 1 player = 1 Kill Team; PvPvE

3) classic, but players cooperate vs GM

4) classic, but players have factions which cooperate against each other

Add to this a Planetary Empires map for progress and territories to fight over, akin to the Necromunda gang campaign, et voila!
