Hey All,

I'm back at it with some 30k Alpha Legion. I'm running a Pride of the Legion list. I decided to do a mix of aqua colored marines and some metallic black Effrit style legionnaires. Trying to split up the colors so I don't get army burnout, ideally the aqua marines are the one's that present themselves to the delegates of opposing armies then the Effrit work in the background.

So... Onto the goodies.

Decided to go with yellow eye lenses. I saw some artwork of a tartaros terminator with them and they just radiate malice.

More to come... Sorry for the washed out photos. I got a portable light box and it uses white LED's and I can't seem to get a good angle with them. Would a net help soften it? Any other ideas?

Glad to see you posting again mate. And with a very different force to last time! What was the big pull of the Alphas, for you? It's interesting you went with them, I assume you've read Praetorian of Dorn?

You've got a really strong vibrant aqua going on - I like it but for Alphas I might wash it down a level, just to take the shine off it (although you might like that, it's a subjective thing and I have a fetish for overly dark shades admittedly). I really like the skull rack on the Lernean, but I absolutely love the texture you have on the cloak for the Effrit. How'd you do that? Works really well and reminds me of the scene when the Alphas emerge from the sands in Legion.

edit: another thing is, on the squad marking on that one Lernean - the chipping effect on the purple squad marking is fantastic. If you could carry that weathering effect over to the rest of the force you'd have serious levels of awesome on your hands.

I also really like the camo cloak.

You should do one of the Effrit squad with a similar look, holding his cloak in front of his face Bela Lugosi style.

Thank you. Praetorian of Dorn really won me over. I loved the adaptability of them and the code words/sneakery. It appealed to my love of espionage and spy movies.

So yes.... On the aqua, I want it super bright. So you would see em and be focused on them while the others are sneaking about. the cloak is super duper simple, I painted on armageddon dust texture paint. A seraphim sepia wash, followed up with a yellow drybrush. The darker one. Yeah, I am doing two 5man vet squads like that as well, but with the aqua.

Funnily enough that's what I was going to do with the cloaked guys. As the planets delegates meet with the terminators they would emerge from the sands to prove the point that we are legion and we are everywhere. The blackout effrit with the cloak was a one off. The aqua with the cloaks looks hawt. Will post up some photos of em soon.

The purple is a squad marking. All I do is make a straight painted line then use a sponge and dab at the sides of it. I'm planning on carrying it over to the rest of the force.

The Hydra's Sons have reemerged with clearer direction. After some play testing and deep meditation (aka covert alpha shenanigans) I'm running a serious gunline style list consisting mostly of infantry and some good ole choom. Plus we're rocking the black armor. Cause we so sexy msn-wink.gif

So right now the vet tacs with heavy bolters are staying. Took a wee bit of a break cause I hate painting mk3 armor... (Dunno why I did that to myself). Plus did some reorganization of my vet melta squad. Due to lack luster performance I axed that and another bolter vet squad to create a tac support squad of mixed mk armor. It'll be a 5 man squad total. 3 newer marines with and 2 half painted ones that will be integrated. With the potential to change the sergeant to carry a melta gun.

I redid my commander yet again... Still named Headhunter Prime Gilgamesh. I've tried beat sticks and have tried dirt cheap centurions but have yet to be wowwed, So... I'm gonna use him as Autilon Skorr. Let me know what you think. May run Alpha's in 8th so he could be continued into it. Before anyone asks, yes I did repurpose Loken.

Also some gaming pics...

Alamo Scene 1 (Militia behind the walls)

hyMpforl.jpg

My buddy ran sacrificial offering with the Bearers of the Good Word, but his legion forces didn't come in for 4 turns. Praise be to the dice gods. The militia actually survived four turns of nonstop shooting behind that stupid aegis defense wall. Although I snuck around and destroyed his earthshaker crew so he didn't pulverize me with it. Also I shot Erebus in the face on overwatch with a melta gun... Tehehe I'm Alpharius.

Alamo Scene 2 (Alpha Legion's turn)

AipGgmgl.jpg

Getting charged by multiple units of gal vorbak getting dropped in and a Mhara Gal dread is not desirable.... Although I put up one hell of a fight. Somehow only lost that game by a single vp due to my choom support squad.

HELP NEEDED: How on god's green earth do I make my mini photo booth not give off such harsh light? Short of me putting my fingers above it I'm not having much luck. Ideas needed.

Looks awesome.

Have you tried some gauze or a thin sheet of paper to diffuse the light.

Either that or a less powerful bulb or move the light source further away.

Also take a look at the white balance levels of your camera before taking photos

Thank you my friend. I can't find the right kind of gauze but i will keep tinkering. For now I'm using my fingers to diffuse the light. As seen in this next unit.

Added a small tactical support squad. With meltas, for when one absolutely needs something or someone slagged. A little cookie, I used the melta gun with an aquilla. Maybe to denote the sergeant's loyalty. Only Alpharius shall know.

0uE8Ew4.jpg

And some built projects for the future. Hopefully i will get to them soonish.

This bad boy I got through a friend. He will serve as a line breaker and some much needed close combat monster. Took some bits from an iron clad kit to beef up his shoulders and cover some chaos trim that i couldn't sand down.
ZmGUJwT.jpg

Finally making a moritat. He shall be my boogie man. I love serpentas but... I love the dual wielding bolt pistol look. I have to clean up the torso a bit, some glue got on my finger... (Sigh) but you get the idea. Scrapped the backpack for the proper huntsman vibe.
gGtDsjA.jpg

Hope you all like the goodies. Let me know your thoughts. Another future add in will be some seekers. With a crowd favorite, ghillie cloaks.
