There isn't even a mention of applying two thin coats of paint. I prefer just working up from layered blues-to-white and avoiding metallics for my glow effects. Magos Takatus Posted May 5, 2017 Author Share Posted May 5, 2017 I've noticed that the Warhammer TV tutorials don't always match the instructions provided with the model. Archaon's steed is a good example where sometimes different paints are used. I think the youtube videos are often slightly easier to achieve than the box art. There's a lot more drybrushing in many cases. They still produce good results so it's a good idea to watch them for good ideas. Specifically regarding the Taser tutorial, the gradient shading with nuln oil is a good idea, I shaded mine the same down the length of the taser equally. They claim it's answering people's questions, but I have to question the minds of people not capable of just figuring this stuff on their own because it is so mundane. Seconded. I guess not everyone has the ultimate mastery of a skilled painter that you clearly do, dogfender! I've found many of Duncan's tuts to be invaluable. I'm quite surprised at the technique in this tutorial. I would have thought they started with a light blue for the skin. The glaze really makes a difference. I didn't include the video of the Galvanic Servohauler since it was a more general terrain video and not directly related to the Adeptus Mechanicus. I hope these are going to be useful to people, I haven't painted any Ruststalkers so I might need to pay heed if I get round to painting some. I personally would follow the box art a bit closer and start with a lighter blue closer to the handle personally, it seems quite a bit lighter than Kantor blue. Where do I stand regarding this thread? Is it okay to post here specifically with Admech-themed videos, should the thread have a more general title? I just figured this could be helpful.
