White Scars in 8th... how awsome will it be?

Recommended Posts

Raven Guard player here... just saying hello and that you guys have an awsome fluff/army.  It was my second choice for a space marine army.

What are you guys excited about for 8th?  I think you guys are gonna rek face with reserve tricks and assaulty bikes.  Speed+Close Combat Brutality.  I might add some WS allies if the allied rules are good.

Speed kills!

Definitely interested in what will happen. They've said WS will have some hit and run strategum available, so that will be nice.

I am waiting to see how bikes are changing before committing to finishing my WS force.

Im waiting to see if the Primaris Marines get a new bike. If they do then I will be totally  making a White Scar Primaris army.

I'm pretty sure, that for every existing Unit-Type we will see Primaris Units that resemble thos existing Units more or less. The new Interceptor Squad is a good Example: On the first look the are a Primaris Version of the Assault Marines, but rumor has it that the are dropped directly from orbit, which would explain the much bigger Jump-Machinery. And I am pretty much sure, that we will see a similar approach to Space Marine Bikes, because the old Models … are so very uncool … have so much potential for improvement …

I really really hope that we'll see Primaris Bikes that look cool, because that would be a reason for me to start with White Scars too.

I think they took away Karo'sarro Khan bicycle in the new codex, is this true?

I'm not sure. I don't have a new codex, yet. Buuut … couldn't that be read as a Herald of new Bikes? "We take away his old bike now, because he'll get a new one in a few months …" :happy.:

On the other Hand: The next Codices that will be comming are Chaos Space Marines, Death Guard and Grey Knight. I'd rather expect new Minis for them, than more Primaris. It's still 20 weeks till Christmas (I assume, we will see all major Codices until then). Games Workshop seem to publish new stuff every weekend. If we assume, that we'll have 2/3 40 and 1/3 Age of Sigmar, we will see roughly 14 new Releases until Christmas for 40k.

  1. Chaos Space Marines
  2. Grey Knight
  3. Death Guard
  4. Astra Militarum
  5. Space Wolves
  6. Blood Angels
  7. Dark Angels
  8. Aeldari
  9. T'au
  10. Tyrandis
  11. Necrons
  12. Orks
  13. Deathwatch
  14. Sisters, Imperial Agents and Assasins

That really doesn't leave to much room for new Primaris Stuff unless the publish several Codices together, add Primaris "along the way" or don't publish all Codices this year … haaa … sweet speculation.

Seriously?!? That's their release schedule? I am a Marine player that is intending to build an entire Chapter using all Marine codexes and it offends me that I have to wait for Xenos players to get their Codices at the end of the release schedule.

Yes it is true, same goes for Librarians, Chaplains and other units that could have access to bikes do not have it anymore...

However, per FAQ GW did mention that if it is not in the Codex you can refer to the Index, using the new appropriate point  cost of course.

So you can still use Khan on his bike :)

No, no, no. It's just specualtion, just as I wrote in the last sentence. We only do know, that they release new stuff every weekend, and we do know that Chaos Space Marines, Grey Knights and Death Guard will be the next codices. And we do know that the other First Founding Chapters Codices will be there befor christmas. That's all. I just added the numbers in the list to have a running count of how many codices there are in the list, in order to see, when I reached 14 - which is 2/3rds of the number of weeks till christmas. So we don't know anything more about the order, nor about the time schedule. I just assumed, that they'll be aiming for christimas in order to have something for every play to put under the christmas tree.

But seriously … if I am not mistaken, they didn't realease all 7th Edition Astartes-Codices, and then the Xenos. And they have good reasons not to because there a probably just more Xenos-Players than Dark Angels or Deathwatch Players. And as ambitious and impressing as you project to build a Chapter from all codices may be … I guess there are not sooo many people who want to do the same.

I was thinking that was the release order since I knew that GW planned on 10 codices by Christmas.

My project is a long term aspirational project. To keep me a little more sane in playing the game I was going to base each Company on different Chapters and play whatever tickled my fancy. Part of the lore of my Chapter is that there homeworld is in a relatively "safe" sector and they are overcommited. They are also highly suspected of doing their recruitment anywhere they happen to be even if it means taking from another Chapters recruitment world.

Overcommited and doing recruitment on other Chapters recruitment world … that's nice! :happy.:
