Thanks to Minigiant for his help. Have a minor little update - got a few different iterations for potential ideas for chapter symbols.

Out of the Omega symbols, I think C (the one with the letter encircling a golden star) looks best. Of the horse heads, I think I (a golden star with thin rays) looks best, the star high above and representing an ideal the Wardens will fight and die for.

Just wanted to post to let everyone know I haven't given up, just got caught up with some stuff. (Mainly a mild cold - damn you, Nurgle.)

Thanks for everyone's input - likely will go with I, but keeping C as a back-up in case my lackluster painting skills can't quite replicate a horse head accurately.

Been mulling around what I'll be writing up on next, mainly focusing on the Warden fortress-monastery. My initial thought was for a base built into a massive cliff face at the end of a torturously long canyon called 'the Great Divide'. Massive gun installations placed in dug-out bits all along the rock, secret underground bays for bike and transport deployment, that kind of thing. Someone had suggested to me something like a fort beneath the surface of Delamar's moon, and while I was originally leaning toward my first idea, my head then generated the phrase 'future space cowboys on the moon' and it has yet to leave so I'm now becoming more enamored with the concept.

You might as well use both. Have an easily defended fortress-monastery/shipyard on the moon, and a training camp/garrison at the end of that canyon.

I like this idea a lot, reaching the Fort in the The Great Divide could be the first leg of a potential aspirant's journey to become an Astartes. I suggest looking to the similarly named Divide in the Fallout: New Vegas DLC Lonesome Road, our Divide could be filled to the brim with hostile wildlife, natural hazards and life-threatening weather that the aspirants have to survive before reaching the Fort where the real tests begin.

Honestly, I'm digging your Chapter name and theme, the background is straight and to the point. Like the others in the forum have said, I too think you should develop an alternate color scheme, more cowboy themed. Also, maybe you should make the Gunslingers a specialist formation within your 1st Company.

(The "Gunslingers" are a specialist formation of Vanguard Veterans within the Star Wardens 1st Company. Consisting of the most experienced and Aggressive close combat Astartes the Chapter has to offer. Every Gunslinger wields dual bolt pistols in battle, slaying foes with wild abandoned, etc, etc, etc....)

Updated the index again - now have entries on Battlefield Doctrine, Chapter Cult, and Gene-Seed, as well as some additions to previous bits (thanks to Bjorn, SanguiniusReborn and BreezyLamar for suggestions), new formatting and visuals.

Doing some more writing, but for this I kind of wanted to place here first just to get opinions. Largely right now I'm trying to focus on notable campaigns and characters.

The following I wrote as kind of a means of perhaps implementing that idea I had about captains within the chapter instead of the unique title-equivalent of "Justicar", which I know will require another edit to the index about further codex deviation. (I'm'a bad Ultra-baby.)

960.M37 – Early into the chapter's history, a demi-company of multiple elements is sent ahead of the Warden's 1st, 3rd and 5th company fleets in response to distress beacons raised on Calvera VII during a massive incursion by an Ork Waaagh! In the time during transit all contact with the planet and their advanced forces had been lost, the chapter master Theron Hawklight grimly presuming he'd sent his men to their deaths at the hands of the xenos. Upon the fleet's arrival Calvera still stood against the Green Tide and were astounded to receive communications from ground forces; though only a fraction of the full force brought that was lost over the course of initial engagements, a band of marines had pulled together, organized by a mix of officers, and against all odds held firm before the greenskins. The might of three battle-companies swiftly saw an end to the conflict, the aftermath of which saw the survivors and their commanders receive significant commendations. The bond shared by these sergeants and specialists was so moving that in time Theron would see that each one would be promoted to a master rank in his reformed chapter command, the Fifteen Justices.

Is "Justice" or "Justicar" a unique title for Star Wardens Chapter Master's advisers, the way "Iron Father" is for an Iron Hands Iron Thane? (As of 7th Edition, the 41 Iron Fathers that make up an Iron Hands successor's Iron Council includes Captains, Veteran Sergeants, Chaplains, Apothecaries, and Librarians, in addition to the Techmarines that dominated the Iron Council in previous editions.)

No, no, like I previously stated, it was an idea I had for a unique name to call my captains. Like how the Dark Angels captains are called "Masters" and the Raven Guard have "Shadow Captains". The "15 Justices" thing was my attempt at trying to come up with a name for their command order/council/thing to reflect the Magnificent Seven concept I had in mind for them being a super-team band of brothers, I'm not entirely satisfied with it though based on how I struggled to think up that.

You can probably do the magnificent seven. Make a story about them, suitably epic for an astartes. Then make them disappear. The chapter venerates these as shining examples of what it really is to be a Star Warden

As the Chapter has only ten Companies (you described it as a Codex Chapter with minimal deviations, after all), who fills the other five positions? The High Chaplain, Chief Librarian, Chief Apothecary, Master of the Forge, and Commander of the Honor Guard?

Another thought, to build on this, is that each of these seven holds the honorary title of 'Magnificent'. You don't need to play the theme too hard but the reference here will be blindingly obvious, so maybe it will be a bit much. ^_^

That was essentially my idea, yeah, except supplant honor guard commander with the chapter master, or 'Chief-Justicar'. The others wouldn't have the same titles, but would hold the same rank as the other Justicars in over-seeing chapter operations.

I do like that idea a lot, but I've been kind of ruminating on a similar idea centered on a scout patterned as a "Man with No Name" character. I'm not sure how many figures of legend I want there to be that are known for basically going off to do their own thing, though I have kind of set that up as being a fairly common thing... never mind, shutting up.

(EDIT)

Think I'll ditch the bit about the specific campaign, have it just be that the commanders over time grew to be a tightly-knit brotherhood. Less in line with the 'Magnificent Seven' actually, and more the Gung-Ho Guns in Trigun.

I think if you want the Man with No Name, make it a local legend, and make the Man with no Name, an apothecary searching for new recruits
