Reading leaked rules

Crimson Fists will be more focused in 8th, Kantor is clearly a boost for CC, and Sternguard get no special benefit. There appear to be no chapter tactics. Out of the 15 or so named characters, 6 are related to Dorn. Drop Pods arrive when you want. Kantor now costs quite a bit more than Lynsander who has probably been the most nerfed. Overall the characters are much cheaper I don't want to link to purloined goods on this messsage board, lets just say you can find the link in various FB groups.

Iron Hands get the worst of it, this books is very much based on using named characters to create flavor. There appears to be no Chapter Specific Wargear I've seen, nor chapter tactics. One reason I think CF will double down on CC is because lacking the Chapter Tactics, they will be getting their best benefits in CC. Also Sternguard have no poison rounds, Kantor has no special relationship with Sternguard either.

These indices are clearly a stopgap measure to get everyone playing, so its understandable that chapter tactics arent in.

And thats a good thing. Let the indices serve as a baseline so that GW can adjust of those to create balanced codices, instead of what we had before where the first codex of an edition ends up sucking because ever codex is just based off that first one's trial and error.

I am most bummed that my sternguard no longer have special bolters on their combi weapons. I have to seriously considerpopping off their combi meltas now!

Yet, all combi weapons are no longer fire the bolter or the one shot combi part, but can fire both weapon types each round with a slight penalty to hit. Why would you need special bolter rounds when you can fire both a bolter or a melta/plasma shot each round.
