I've got about 20 points left that I'm not sure what to do with but I'm liking the basis of this army. Essentially, the conscripts, officers, heavy weapon squads, and vindicare assass (gotta get to half) would deploy at first. In my first turn, everything comes in from reserves, and tries to mess with the enemy. Rough riders hope that there is enough going on to force the enemy to leave them alone (setting up charges), while the scions shoot things and assassins do what they do. There should also be more than enough officers to make certain EVERYBODY is able to benefit from an order (actually, I'm counting that now and might benefit more from an inquisitor.)

This seems pretty nasty to me. Certainly provides a target-rich environment for the enemy, but I think that helps a lot. Strange to see a Guard list without armor.... but still seems great. Maybe try to take out a few Heavy Weapons Teams for a Basilisk? They're decently nasty now...

Only concern would be that everything has to footslog, and that may hurt in objectives.

I think the only one who can order Scions around is a Tempestor Prime. If you're good with that, carry on.

I tend not to be too fond of any list running multiple Assassins, as they really eat into your points. A couple of sniper special weapons squads, or something like that would be good, in my opinion. Or a pair of priests to follow those conscripts around.

A lot of troopers, but life is cheap in 8th it seems! You might have difficulty placing them all you have so many but it's looks like it might be an effective way to get an infantry list going?

I like my IG in two flavors: full mechanized or like I intend to take Verdun and do it now. I kinda like the HWSs and want to try them out. The significant price reduction they got, coupled with the increased effectiveness of lascannons and mortars, means I need to give it a whirl. I will be constantly thinking of bassies though. As far as the footsloging, I intent to reserves a lot (all tempestus, all rough riders, and 3/4 assassins) so I'll be having quite a bit show up farther down the line.

Yeah, that's why I have one tempestor prime and am thinking of replacing one senior officer with another. I'm hoping that four squads showing up and benefiting from orders will give the enemy something to worry about. As far as the assassins, I took them partially to fill the elite requirements, and partially to get a lark. They'll probably be lackluster but, meh. I'll have to think about a priest or two.

This is the guard WF, life has always been cheap. I'm hoping, but time will tell, that not having to worry about templates, plus so much of the army starting in reserves, will help ease my overcrowding problems.

I think to get the most from "templates" that's the way to go - as you can't scatter onto friendlies you can just lob everything you have at whatever you want. I'm starting to be convinced that infantry is quite viable in 8th, the sheer numbers you can get down will go a long way. Sort of like the old stalwart of numbers and firepower dialled up to 11...

I think plasma is the better option for the scions. They have better range and, with over-charge, they can hurt just about anything. The list looks solid and is similar to what I've been toying around with.

The assassins are a bit much. I really only like the eversor and vindicaire.
