jaxom Posted October 23, 2017 Share Posted October 23, 2017 (edited) In my quest to be efficient, i.e. lazy, I stumbled upon ceiling tiles as textured flat things for an army board. EDIT: Update time: two layers of watered down PVA glue, crackle paste to fill the joins and assorted areas, plastic tyranid bits added. Each tile is 12" x 12" and has "Sand Pebble" texture. jaxom Posted October 28, 2017 Share Posted October 28, 2017 ++ Month 5 Vow Complete ++ Cheap, easy, and fast. I have no plans to use this other than for Armies on Parade. If I were making a board with more staying power or really cared about presentation here's what I'd change in the future: 1) Suck it up and spend the money for fresh thing of crackle paste to cover the whole board so it all matches the army bases. 2) The ceiling tiles are light and took the PVA and crackle paste very well. I'd add a thin plywood backing attached with something like liquid nails and then simultaneously lock it in and cover the edges of the board with wooden picture framing. I may paint up another 5 scouts before the change over occurs, but it depends on if I get hooked into Stranger Things season two. Lionofjudah, Iron Within, Iron Without! Iron Bars, nice robots, especially the computer screen display on the heads. Also what weapon is underslung on the fits? My Vow for this month is complete, a little ahead of schedule, which his nice. The middle one is a little mad, so I gave him a second grenade gauntlet and built the brute shield into it. As that gives a 4++ I saw no reason to glad him in the normal bullgryn armour (which would have also interfered with the converted gauntlet placement). Side shots of the mad one. Nothing to bring home, but I expected that going into it, there were some amazing armies and boards. Definitely good motivation to just keep up painting and getting a bit better one mini at a time. Unfortunately, there were no Scouts in the store so I won't be doing a second vow for the month (not in the mood at the moment to do a lot of power armor and a guard unit would take too long). So with this my final vow will be 5x tactical and 5x assault to finish out a couple half squads and then my total vow is complete yay. After that, I will do some touch up on previous character models to bring them more in line with my newer work and add some vehicles. Quick vow to end the month: 8 vanguard of the Sepuloran guard. They are almost finished, but I couldn't post them because of internet problems.
