which Forgeworld to do?! help!

Recommended Posts

Hey team, I have joined the AdMech praise the Omnissiah!

BUT I am stuck, I am finding it SO MUCH HARDER to pick which Forgeworld to pick.... I feel its hard because I want to buy a Titan and paint it up also, however it is hard to find a Titan legion with a cool colour scheme that matches a Forgeworld with a cool scheme....

Thoughts so far:

Mars - an obvious choice - get Belisarius Cawl, and Legio Tempestus, but seems overly done....

Ryza - a little alty - no heroes, but Legio Crucius is one of the coolest, but orange is iffy.....

Metalica - Cool schemes, pale creamy sand colour is nice, but Legio Metalica scheme is dumb IMHO, and nearly wiped out...

Custom - could do a random Forgeworld and build it into my own, but this seems a little lame.... plus what colour?!

Wait for Fires of Cyraxus - cool grey scheme with likely some interesting heroes and units knowing FW. But could be a long wait...

thoughts?

In the end, I went for a variant on mars - Red and Metal primary, just added a more blue and yellow to everything based on one of the old imperial robot schemes I liked - still unsure whether to go hard on the lylac stripes and beige leg :P

Nothing wrong with doing your own CW and building the background to match how you want to play them on the tabletop.  You can still use some established schemes if you want, or blend/swap colours as you see fit.  I'd say as long as you keep some red in there (of any shade) it's all good from a purely-background perspective.

Make your own up - I had two ideas for my own FW one was to make up a colour scheme for Konor in the Ultramar system. My other sillier (or way more awesome) idea was to make up a FW but base the name upon Iron Maiden and give them a dark scheme with some red bits tongue.png

Lucius - Sure it has a colour scheme similar to mars just more cream and darkened metal, but if you are also considering a Titan legion to go with your army, with Lucius you get the Legio Astorum the only Teleport capable titan legion...that we know of (In my head-cannon the Titans who have the flame motif have successfully performed a teleport into a battle/combat zone)

Reading between the Lines here tells me ...You really need to Pick a colour scheme you want to paint your "TITAN" in first cause i'm getting the Vibe that the look of your titan is the most important point of this army for you...and then i guess work backwards and apply those colours to your own ad-mech/skitarii army and either say they're an off shoot of a mars faction (if you have included red into your scheme) or make up a planet of your own happy.png

Good luck with whatever you choose and we hope to see it come alive here in front of us for all to see.

Cheers,Mithril

I have to agree with Mithril.

My paintjobs are usually determined by what I want my centerpiece model/models to look like. This often helps me start thinking of what their lore and story is, which will inform my <Keyword> (to use the new terminology) at the end.

After I determine the centerpiece paintjob, then I create a complimentary scheme for my other units.

Once they're all matched, then I use what I have as far as colour goes, and what lore bits I made up along the way to describe their colours and bases, to decide a House / World.

Of course, do note that WYSIWYG only applies to gear and loadout, not to colour scheme.

Feel free to paint them ravishing pink and yellow if you want and still call them <MARS> when you want to put them down with Cawl or whatever.

I too am joining the Adeptus Mechanicus, so we go together brother! I also am having trouble with the color scheme but since I'm thinking of doing my own forgeworld, I have an idea for a darker color scheme befitting a forgeworld on an ash waste type world rich in metals and fraught with chemical wastes.

I was thinking of black cloth with red gear print and spots of regal coppery metallic to offset the dark "metallic" colors without appearing chaotic. Green and Blue lenses will make those ever delicious spot colors to make things pop. That's just an idea of course. I have others!

I was also thinking of making my Forgeworld rich in reddish metals as to give all my metallic areas a reddish wash and make the cloth white with black gear patterns. Sort of a mix-play on the Mars colors. :)

Of course, you really can't say the original Mars color scheme is overdone because, let's be honest, there is nothing more iconic than red-cloaked mechanicus forces with white details to make the models pop.

Remember, we're a part of a VERY dogmatic and tradition-based sect of the Imperium. An empire unto itself within an empire. There's nothing wrong with making your own forgeworld that sticks with tradition but uses it's own iconography on it's priesthood and skitarii, secutarii and titans. :)

I second this, plus he are hinted to be the most innovative, so it's gives us a little more rein to make some awesome conversions! also aside from the white pants, the color scheme is stupidly simple.
