Quad mortars and allocation of hits

When a opponent uses quad mortars, if the barrage templates only go over 5 of the 10 tactical marines.

Do the hits only apply to the 5 marines covered by the template?

 

Or once the 5 marines that were covered by the templates are dead. Do the excess hits spill over to the remaining 5 marines that were not cover d by the template?
