Tzen's WIP Death Guard Thread

It's me, with yet another WIP thread!

I have been pretty sick today and yesterday, and inbetween bouts of unholy sickness, I have been putting some paint to Typhus as a test model.

Long way to go yet. Just a test mini. For all I know we could be getting a new Typhus model soonish, so I chose this model to make sure I get to paint it before it becomes obsolete!

Thanks Skidman.

Never painted a Deathguard before, so just trying to work out how I want them to look. I really like the 30k scheme, just not sure it will work in 40k! :D

Great stuff.

As usual.

I'm considering how nicely this guy looks when thinking about how I'll paint my own Death Guard when I buy the new starter box.

They'll be my first chaos miniatures since the late '90s but I think they're too cool looking to not keep for my self.

Thanks as always chaps, I am glad you like so far. I am not entirely sold on using the old legion colours on my death guard. Bu tthat's the point in this test mini! I also think the finecast version of this model hasn't helped much. I bought this when FC first became a thing, so the level of detail isn't as hot as more recent fine cast minis.

I think the idea of 40k Death Guard still having their 30k colours makes sense; I can't see a Plague Marine repainting his armour, with it being so far down the laundry list of maintenance issues.

Yeah I agree. I think the idea with the 40k guys is that their armour has decayed into the green colour, but even so I think the traditional colour scheme fits in perfectly with 40k death guard.

Woow! really like what you did with your Typhus! I couldn't the right colour "while" on my own Typhus and ended up going with the green look, so i'm super impressed :O!!!

Totally agree with the traditional colour fitting into the 40k DG especially when you dirty it up some more!

Keep it up and get well soon!

This has been quite an interesting project for me, as I am usually a "clean" painter. So having to dirty up the mini has been interesting. Still nto sure about the grime yet. I may also add some goo to him.

Wow. I was going to comment on your Ultras and ask when we would see some more Chaos from you and you deliver this. Great work. I think he looks perfect in the Heresy colours. I'm planning on a bone colour for my DG when I paint them too.

Also, agreed Nurglings do in fact rock. HARD! :D
