Issodon Inspirations - Help a Brother out

Recommended Posts

For 5 long years I've contemplated how I can represent the most gifted Space Marine Commander to serve humanity since the days the days of Primarchs.

I've seen some superb representations scattered around the interweb (galaxy?) many presented on our beloved forum.

The idea behind this thread is to group as many images together; models, fan art, maybe even other historic, fantasy or Sci fi images that can inspire me, so I can finally complete this task.

I have a rough image of how I want him to look. Hooded, camo cloak billowing out behind and to the side, walking forward steadily with his bolter, two handed but relaxed and moving in sync with his steps. Sword sheathed at his side (back of waist?) and some form of advanced com unit back pack as opposed to anything fancy. However this is no way set in stone.

My main target is he has to be the absolute best miniature I've ever made (that shouldn't be too hard!).

So please post anything you have or can find here and if possible the creator so they can be credited.

Till we meet again at Prime.

I would say when I get off work i'll get right too it, but seeing as how I get off at midnight tonight, chances are I head start for bed... but in the morning stand by for what I've collected in my "study" of the Raven Guard and successors. Plus other tidbits from other related things.

I was going to adapt the new Primaris Space Marine Captain from the box set. Change the arms probably give him a sternguard bolter (one handed if I can help it) with a silencer on it. A left handed sword if I can manage it, otherwise greenstuff a longer combat knife. Take off the iron halo. Turn the cloak into a camo cloak. Give him some sort of tactical digital camo paintjob.

Should work relatively well.

It's been said in one of the previous posts but I'll bring it up here as well.

I think that one of the Mor Deythan models could be a strong base for a Issodon conversion. Here's a link to the model i'm thinking about: Potential Issodon.

The pose is good and the cape is not covering the back pack so that could be interchanges or modified to be more "coms-y"

The challenge will be the arms; the shoulder pads are on the same sprue so you'd either have to do some carving or just swap them completely. The sniper could be converted easily and all you would need to do it strap a PS to his back or one of his hands.

I think this is the route I'm going to go. Issodon is way to cool to not have in a force.

I did this marine back in 5th just for fun but now hes serving a role as my Lias. There are a couple accessories I'd like to add in time.

Well, my inspirations folder doesn't include a single Issodon conversion, just parts that would fit. So at least my two versions:

The first one, actually my second Raptor ever (besides the pushfit guy in the background). Entirely from a deathwatch sprue, besides the gun (custodes spear's bolter, stalker bolter silencer) and the left arm (Calth missile launcher arm, looks like small rangefinder).

The second one is my current Issodon. Torso/legs/cloak/backpack/head/right arm are (again) deathwatch sprue, custodes bolter got augmented with IG sniper rifle barrel/scope and scout bipod and bolter sling. The dagger is cut out of the sheathed custodes dagger (raptors' heads on the hilt), knife sheath is IG, backpack raptors' heads are from an imperial knight (the small decorative ones). Shoulder pad is a terminators pad's Raptors logo casted onto a regular pad.

Here is my Lias conversion. I made one a while ago, but it was really basic. I wanted something a bit fancier for the badass.

He still needs a lot of work.

This is outstanding, hands-down my favourite ever interpretation of Lias Issodon. Is the bird an Aetherwing from the Vanguard-Raptors kit?

These legs…

how?

Thousand Sons Exalted Sorcerer legs

Here's what I threw together with extra bits I had. I keep the power armor black to match my Scouts, they're black as they have no chapter markings or colors so if captured behind enemy lines the enemy will have no way to know where they came from or what the true purpose was.

Here's my counts-as Lias, as I don't play actual Raptors. Knife hand is Sternguard I believe, the backpack is stolen from the Iron Hands Deathwatch character and trimmed down. Looks like he'll be seeing even more play this edition.

I really like that. A nice clean representation, nothing overly elaborate. Also, the paint scheme is ace.
