8th Dark Angels Tactica and Tournament Guide (in progress)

In smaller games with theoretically more room to move on the table, I would recommend LS Typhoons (which just became cheaper in C:SM and will likely follow to us) with Shroud protection and Sammael for rerolls. Staying out of 24" helps with Smite spam and you have the added bonus of getting to multiple objectives whilst constantly pinging off infantry or tanks from range.

Stand fast impervious lists are fine for bigger games where your footprint is limited and SOlrac has done very well with that type of list at 2000pts.

YMMV of course, depends on who you face in your area.

My game in the weekend against WraithKnight/lord/Guard/Blades Scorpions and Avatar with Belial/TDA Libby/DWK/DW/DW/LR/LRC/LRC went really well; I played aggressively and had the resilience to take all his fire and lost one LRC, then the fists and DWKs went to work and I nearly tabled him (one empty Waveserpent got away).

We do have quite a few decent tools now without taking bubble spam; although bubbles do help for sure. ;)

My Konor list was 50 power.

Azrael

Dark Shroud w/ Assault Cannon

2x Dreadnought with Twin Lascannon/Twin Autocannon

2x Razorback w/ Assault Cannon + Storm Bolter

2x Tactical Squad

For the first Konor mission it worked perfect.

Wasn't Smite 18" and even shorter for GK though?

Yep: Those 18" Smites can usually walk 6" too, threat range therefore is 24".

I'd also bubble like Sol, no time and points for healing and fixing, just good damage output at as long a range as possible.

Really like this setup. Fluffy and powerful! How did you equip the tactical squads' Heavy, specialist and sergeant?

What do you think about 2 Repulsors in a Primaris list, regardless of what is inside? We are talking about 287 each at the cheapest, which is a full dakka version and 324 each if you take the 4 LC shots. They are fairly tough though. Thoughts? Too much? Or needed?

Is it worth it though? Here are two example lists. Note that those are made of models I own right now (aside from the second Repulsor).

List 1 (two Repulsors)

Hidden Content

Battalion

PCaptain - Stalker

PLieutenant - Stalker

PLibrarian

5 Reivers - Hooks

PAncient

10 Intercessors - Rapid Fire

5 Intercessors - Stalkers

5 Intercessors - Stalkers

Dark Shroud

6 Hellblasters - Rapid Fire

Repulsor - full Las

Repulsor - full Las

List 2 (one Repulsor)

Hidden Content

Battalion + Vanguard

PCaptain

PLieutenant

PChaplain

6 Aggressors - dakka

Apothecary

Redemptor Dread - Plasma + Dakka

10 Intercessors - Assault

5 Intercessors - Rapid Fire

5 Intercessors - Rapid Fire

Dark Shroud

6 Hellblasters - Rapid Fire

Repulsor - full Las

List 1 has 6 drops if I deploy the 10 Intercessors inside the second Repulsor and Hellblasters with all characters inside the first one. More of a gun-line character. The second list has at least 7 drops (up to 9 depending on Combat Squads) and definitely more aggressive with the Aggressors, Dread, Chaplain and Apothecary probably moving ahead of the rest and ultimately having their own re-rolls in melee when they get out of the range of the Captain.

i think with a shroud giving -1 to hit, certainly makes them more threatning.  Consider adding azrael to give them 4+ invuln now they become extremely good.  Overall i don't feel primaris has it quite yet, we'll see what our codex brings us, but i think they are getting there

The next Tournament list I'm playing around with is:

Azrael

Lieutenant

Techmarine

20 Bolter Scouts

10 Sniper Scouts

Dark Shroud

Dark Talon

3x Repulsor w/ Las-Talon/Twin Las

Decent strength. Be interesting to see how it does

I have ordered my Repuslors from eBay as they were really cheap. I'll report back once I test the list.

Primaris need their equivalent of a Razorback. Then we can start talking about one Repulsor at most. They need another heavy-weapon platform. I'll pay 120-150pts if we get a transport with 5 capacity, option for a Las-Talon and the Fly keyword to keep with the Repulsor theme. Edited by Immersturm

Captain in Terminator Armour

Predator

Vindicator

Whirlwind

Drop Pod

Power Fist

Lightning Claws (both pair and single)

Thunder Hammer (both character and non-character)

Thoughts from an opponent - Sammael's re-roll rule is filth and sick. I faced off against Sammael and three Landspeeder Tornadoes with assault cannon/multi-melta armament yesterday and they tore me a new one. They accounted for two squads of Iron Warriors, two squads of Terminators, and my Sorceror. Which was almost my entire army. I could barely scratch them in return because they depleted my firepower so quickly (and my dice were really poor - so many 1s!)

Land speeders (even with rerolls) might be better with the points from C:SM than the index, but they are not the best we can do. What you experienced yesterday was, from how I read what you've written, more due to your poor dice than assault cannons and multimeltas on speeders (which to my knowledge is a poor combination) and sammael.

I'll grant you it's not a weak constallation, but it's far from being the strongest too.

People can check out my read along on the YouTube for all the pages of the codex if you don't fancy buying it.
