Thanks for the kind words from the two of you!

I hate painting black so hard to get right.

Atia: I used Scale 75 black which is a very flat almost grey.  The Trim is rune lord brass which I use for everything.

I also used some oil washes and pigments. Waiting on more test models to come in.

So nice having the workstation back up getting all types of work done! Also here’s a pic of the pup that’s caused the huge delay haha. Feel like you need to know who’s to blame!

Test scheme looks good, particularly the metallics.

The new shoulders and head are absolutely savage too!

What a gorgeous pup, how old? I hope his teething goes swiftly and is merciful on your hobby collection! :biggrin.:

Haha he’s my little warhound, I put him on the table when I’m losing then I usually win.

Any suggestions for the black? I like it but not in love with it. I’m trying one more gold out at well. I just hate/am awful at edge highlighting so it makes black difficult

Maybe try layering up from grey to black instead of edge highlighting? I did that with Deathwing to get the bone color and it turned out pretty well. For black, I'd go a medium grey/blue, black wash, grey, then black.

Here’s a few more WIP lord with jump pack and a metallic version of Bl which I’m not crazy about.

Also since I’m doing the hounds I want one shoulder pad to be read what do y’all think left or right?

I’m digging that lord! For my BL berzerkers I was thinking of doing their right arm reds. Something about vengeful “red right hands” just seemed fitting.

How are you doing the metallic black? I’m honestly liking what I see. I did something with three layers of scalecolor Black Metal and washes of army painter dark tone. Just can’t remember how. I tried one layer of scale75 black metal followed by washes of army painter dark tone & dry brushesof metallic.

Thanks Mate, I was thinkging about doing the right arm red as well. I have the Khorne shoulder pads from the FW zerker kit so i think that will work.

The black is Vallejo Metallic black, i tried scale 75 and it was too gun metal ish.  The black is followed by a satin varnish and a heacy coat of 50/50 burnt umber and black oil wash then some pigments.

The nice thing with the shoulder pads is you can paint them separate from the body and and see which side the red will look good on.

I’ll be taking some notes on your paint job if you don’t mind. I liked the scale75 black with washes. I can’t paint black to save my life so it helped and I started liking metallic paint jobs for my marines. Just had to do three washes otherwise it looked like a metallic grey that a red scorpion would use.

Looking forward to see the next update.

I used to run two squads kitted out with bolters, a plasma gun, and heavy bolters in my World Eaters army to provide some fire support. I went with the heavy bolter due to the decent range and number of shots. However, I dropped them in 8th because they never really did much and I thought the points were better spent on more berzerkers or havocs.

I personally never kit them out for close combat. I'm not even competitive, but the in the couple of instances I tried this I was very unhappy with their performance. For my own Hounds of Abaddon, I'll probably go with bolters and take an autocannon as my heavy weapon option because, well, I think they are cool. Oh, and a chain axe for the aspiring champ because a World Eater's habits die hard.
